The Villainess Is My Cute Daughter
Chapter 427: Who Is A Better Chef? Me Or Him?
Adrian looked at them. "Anyways, I will go give this to Cassius and tell him to deal with the rest. He does need gold while we are gone, right? There is no way that he can get things going without massive funding. After all, there are so many projects that I have planned, and he is going to be responsible for almost every single one of them."
Claire nodded slowly. "Do you want me to go and talk to him? I will go threaten him so that he will never betray you with all that money."
Adrian chuckled. "I mean, sure, but you guys should just rest for now. Did you forget that he can’t betray me no matter what? Even thinking about it will cause him pain."
He winked at Claire before turning around and walking out of the bedroom. As he walked down the hall, she could hear his voice trailing back to them.
"I don’t want you limping over to him."
Claire’s face basically just went bright red again. She looked at Serena and gave her an exasperated look before shifting her gaze to Aria.
"Adrian is pretty frustrating, isn’t he? He doesn’t even spend enough time with us."
Aria nodded. "Yeah. Papa needs to spend more time with us."
But then she immediately looked at Claire and glared at her. "He spent so much time with you for the past three weeks! Why are you complaining? I should be the one complaining!"
Claire immediately stopped talking and after a few seconds, looked at Aria guiltily.
"Actually, you are correct," Claire admitted softly. "Adrian needs to spend more time with you. Let’s get him to play with us. Let’s all play together today. After all, tomorrow we need to head out."
Aria shook her head. "No. Papa is busy. He needs to deal with everything so that he can peacefully go with us to the different continent. If not, he will be very worried the whole time."
Serena looked at Claire with a smug smile. "Look, even a seven-year-old is more mature than you."
Claire glared at Serena. "What do you mean me? You were the one who basically begged me last time to make sure that he spends more time with us!"
"I don’t know what you are talking about," Serena said innocently.
She turned away and limped over to the bathroom. Even though she had rested for an entire day, it wasn’t enough to fully recover yet, but it was much better than yesterday.
Another day passed with Adrian frantically dealing with the plans and talking to some of the figureheads of his territory.
Once he was finally done, he headed back home and plopped onto the bed at midnight.
Adrian let out a soft sigh as he stared up at his ceiling. "I shouldn’t have been this lazy for three whole weeks."
Right at that time, Serena, who was sitting right in front of the study table across the room, looked at him.
"Do you regret spending those three weeks with us?"
Adrian shook his head immediately. "Not at all and not one bit. I just wish I had a few extra days."
He looked over at Claire, who was sitting on the edge of the bed. "Still resting or have you started training?"
Claire looked at him and immediately did a perfect backflip off the bed, landing smoothly on her feet.
"I am perfectly fine already."
"Oh, that is great then," Adrian smiled.
He looked back at Serena. "Well, if Claire has managed to heal this much, then you should be fine too."
Serena nodded. "Yeah, it was a little hard in the morning, but all I had to do was walk a little and it felt much better. It still tingles a little, though."
Adrian chuckled. "Well, I am pretty sure it will get better."
He lay back and stared straight up at the wooden ceiling.
"Where is Aria?"
"She said she wanted to cook you dinner since you are working so hard for the people," Serena said.
Adrian looked stunned. He looked at Serena, and then looked at Claire, almost as if he was trying to confirm whether Serena was pranking him or not.
Claire nodded. "Yeah, she did say she wanted to cook something for you."
Adrian immediately sat up. "You guys let her go alone?"
"No, no," Serena said quickly. "We did not let her go alone. She said she would get the help of Wang Lei, and we made sure that she first met up with Wang Lei, and then we came back here. We tried to lend a hand, but she said she wanted to do it alone, so we decided to come back."
Adrian nodded slowly. "Oh God. Alright, I just hope nothing wrong happens."
He suddenly frowned.
"Wait. Why did she go and ask Wang Lei when she could have asked me? Does she think he is a better cook than me?"
He felt a little bit of irrational jealousy, almost like he was losing his daughter’s admiration to someone else.
Serena giggled. "No, that is not it. She wanted it to be a surprise, but I guess it is not a surprise anymore since I ran my mouth."
Adrian nodded, but he couldn’t help but think about it.
"Wait," he said, looking between them. "You guys have eaten the food that I have made, and you also recently ate the food that Wang Lei has made. Be honest with me. Who do you think cooks better?"
Both of them looked at each other hesitantly, and then they looked at Adrian.
The first one to speak was actually Claire.
"Well, the two of you are pretty much on the exact same level," Claire admitted carefully. "But I feel like you prefer making your food a little bit more spicy, while he sort of likes to use salt a lot more often. Like, what I mean is not that he makes his food too salty... It is just that he uses only salt to highlight his dishes, and you use a lot of different spices. It is a sort of distinction, I guess. I personally like yours more."
