The Villainess Is My Cute Daughter

Chapter 409: Lorcan’s Mission

Just as Adrian had expected, the thing had happened.

He closed his eyes and used the Dungeon Door ability to sense every single door that was connected to his dungeon. He felt one exactly in the direction of the Ironhold Kingdom. While his dungeon itself was in that same general direction, he felt this specific door far, far away. Much farther away compared to his dungeon’s actual physical location.

Adrian smiled slightly as he looked into his dungeon using dungeon link and saw one of the members of the Shadow Squad casually walking over towards the dungeon exit. A few seconds later, the man took a step and emerged directly into Oresfall.

Seeing him exit the dungeon and arrive safely, Adrian could not help but chuckle.

"Ha! Having this dungeon door is probably my best fucking skill ever. Just makes things so, so convenient for me."

He got up from his bed and walked out, heading straight to the underground prison area.

This was the place where Lorcan was currently training the new mages. It had basically become their official hideout in Oresfall since there were no actual prisoners at the moment. Every single prisoner had already been converted into citizens of Oresfall anyway.

Adrian walked in and headed over to the main hall. He saw Lorcan sitting on a throne-like seat that looked very similar to the one he used back in his cave before he began working under Adrian.

When Lorcan saw Adrian, he stood up and raised his hand. Every single person in front of him stopped moving immediately.

Adrian had expected Lorcan to be teaching them some spells, but all they were doing right now was brutal physical training. But Adrian didn’t bother digging into the methods since this was not his area of expertise.

Instead, he walked straight over to Lorcan.

"You are still a fourth-circle mage, right?"

Lorcan nodded. "I have tried pushing through to the fifth circle, but even though I have reached the limit of the fourth circle, I am just unable to push through the wall no matter how many times I try."

Adrian nodded slowly.

"I see. I will find a solution to your problem. I am also a fourth circle mage right now, so you never know, we might just rank up at the exact same time."

He looked past Lorcan at the sweating mages.

"I have a mission for you. Do you think you are up for it? It is an infiltration cum assassination mission."

Lorcan bowed his head. "I will do anything for you, my lord. My life belongs to you."

"Well, your job is to basically infiltrate their palace and the royal grounds," Adrian said. "I will give you a pathway directly to the capital of the Ironhold Kingdom. Scout their armies, look into their nobles, look into the royalty, the layout of the palace... everything basically, and bring me a full report. I want it done as soon as possible, and I also want you to tell me how much time it might take. You should have some experience in this, right?"

Lorcan nodded, but frowned slightly.

"Well, what is your main goal, my lord? I do not think that you actually need all of this information unless you wish to fight a war on the front lines face-to-face. But if you do that, I do not think you would need information on the internal layout of the palace. You would only ask me for the size of the armies and the capabilities of the nobles and generals. And if you want to set up an assassination plan, then you wouldn’t ask me for the size of the army."

Adrian nodded.

"Well, I basically want to set up two plans. First one is to basically assassinate the king and maybe finish off his entire family. But if that doesn’t work, I might go with a frontal war. So yeah, I just wanted to get information on both fronts."

Lorcan looked at Adrian seriously.

"What if I just kill the king for you? That should be fine, right?"

Adrian looked at him and thought about it for a second.

"If you think it is possible without endangering your own life, then sure. Kill him. But I want you to do something else too. Whether you can kill him or not, find a timing, place, and situation where you can safely set up a cubicle."

He pulled out a small spatial storage ring and held it out.

"A cubicle is basically a small enclosed room, and there’s one inside this ring. I want you to set it up somewhere safe. When you set it up, I will be coming out of that cubicle along with a few others. So I want you to make sure that there is no dangerous situation."

He handed the ring over.

"Of course, if you do end up getting into a situation where you are in a critical state, then do use the cubicle to escape yourself. There is no need to get yourself killed over a mere door. We can always redo the mission later. Do whatever you can and tell me when you are ready."

Lorcan took the ring and nodded. He looked at the mages standing at attention.

"Continue your training," Lorcan barked. "I will be back in two days. If I find out that any one of you has been slacking, I will show you hell."

He turned back to look at Adrian.

"I am ready to go now."

Adrian nodded and snapped his fingers. A large wooden cubicle appeared right beside them out of thin air. Lorcan nodded once and walked straight through the door of the cubicle. Adrian closed the door behind him and sent the entire cubicle back into his storage space before looking at the mages that Serena had hired a few months ago.

They looked like they were suffering. Or well, training well. And seeing them ’training’ so well, Adrian felt like the wages they were getting was a valid number.
