Chapter 214: War Between Dungeons
Chapter 214: War Between Dungeons
The bombs dropped out of the portal and bounced loudly across the rocky ground right outside the cave entrance. They rolled to a stop in a massive, scattered pile.
The high elves and the elf looked at the spheres, and out of years of habit, the two high elves immediately extended their invisible mana threads to probe the strange metallic objects. It was something they did to check if something was dangerous or not.
It was exactly what Adrian was betting on.
The exact moment their mana touched the steel plating, the runes activated.
The spheres that were touched, instantly detonated.
A massive expansion of pure, superheated fire erupted on the rocky ground. And because the explosion was fundamentally made of magical fire, it acted exactly like foreign mana.
The wave of magical fire instantly washed over the other spheres lying on the ground.
Every single bomb was triggered at the exact same time.
What started as a medium sized explosion instantly transformed into a catastrophic, blinding inferno. A colossal pillar of fire erupted at the base of the mountain. The flames burned the surrounding trees and vaporized the falling droplets.
The two high elves reacted with inhuman speed. They threw up their hands and instantly summoned their thick, hexagonal mana shields to block the blast.
The heavy shields successfully blocked the initial burst of the first explosion. But the compounded, overwhelming force of fifty magical bombs detonating simultaneously was simply too much for them to defend against.
The raw force of the shockwave hit their shields and while they could negate the kinetic energy of the shockwave, the heat was a completely different problem. The two high elves were violently thrown backward through the air and Adrian watched as the two of them crashed into trees and fell to the ground with their clothes burning.
But the short elf girl didn’t have the reflexes or the mana to pull off a block like that.
The flames instantly surrounded her and she was dead in just a few seconds.
Adrian did not wait for the flames to die out.
He immediately walked out of his dungeon and landed right inside the cave, completely bypassing the burning area outside.
He sprinted straight toward the large oval stone. He reached out and slammed his hand flat against the surface of the rock.
The surroundings changed and he was instantly teleported to inside the dungeon.
As his vision shifted, multiple system notifications appeared in front of him.
[Quest: Find the masterminds behind the abnormal monster invasion.]
[Quest Complete!]
[Rewards:100 grams of Orichalcum.]
Adrian had completely ignored this message when it first popped up, but now he glanced at it and nodded to himself before pushing it to the side. He remembered ignoring a few other notifications but he didn’t think too much about it and moved on.
[Chain Quest #2: Kill The Mastermind]
[Quest Complete]
[Final Quest Activated.]
Adrian did not pay attention to the quest logs. He just looked at the main system screen floating right in front of his face.
[Would you like to take control over this dungeon as a Dungeon Master?]
[One Slot Remaining.]
’Okay it can work.’ he thought and finally paid some attention to the notifications that were around him.
[Second Chain Quest Complete: Kill The Mastermins]
[Reward: Reward Modifier - Increase the level of rewards for the Final Quest.]
[Final Quest: Take over the SSS Rank Dungeon.]
[Reward: Dungeon Link Upgrade.]
Adrian read the words ’Dungeon Link Upgrade’ and his eyes widened slightly.
’Okay.’ Adrian thought.
"Take over this dungeon."
[Affirmative.]
The screen glitched for a second, turning a bright, angry red.
[Warning. The dungeon has a consciousness. It is fighting back against your will.]
[Would you like to tame it and become its master?]
Adrian frowned. He was a bit doubtful about exactly what he was supposed to fight a conscious dungeon with.
’Yeah.’ Adrian confirmed.
The moment he agreed, his surroundings changed before he could even sense it.
He was transported into a massive, bizarre looking empty space. The floor beneath his shoes was pure, glowing white. It was perfectly smooth, and he could tell that it was not made of tiles or concrete. It was just a solid, unidentifiable material that stretched out infinitely.
There were no walls and no ceilings either. The white floor just expanded infinitely into the horizon until Adrian’s eyes couldn’t see it anymore.
He looked behind him and saw a glowing blue portal.
He looked in front of him and saw a massive, glowing red portal.
The system screen materialized in front of him like always.
[The War Between Dungeons.]
[Win against the opposing dungeon’s army to take over or consume its core.]
"Okay." Adrian muttered to himself. "So it is a literal war between dungeons."
[Yes.]
"Okay then." Adrian sighed.
He looked at the massive red portal. A loud, rumbling noise began to come out from it.
The noises went on for a few seconds and then, the monsters started pouring out.
It was the exact same types of monsters that he had been fighting on the wall all day. Thousands of massive green ogres carrying spiked clubs walked out through the red portal. They were followed by endless swarms of goblins.
Then came the massive packs of dire wolves, most of who were just drooling like they hadn’t eaten for ages and finally found some meat. Huge, muscular orcs walked out from behind them, roaring loudly as they glared at the blue portal behind Adrian. And finally, massive red horned boars stomped out.
Adrian stared at the endless sea of monsters coming out from the red portal and blinked a few times, feeling hopeless.
"Am I supposed to fight all of these myself?" Adrian asked as he glanced at the system screen helplessly.
[Yes.]
[Enemy Count: 1,000,000 Monsters.]
Adrian felt his stomach drop when he saw that number.
He immediately used dungeon link.
’Well.’ Adrian thought quickly. ’Since I can do this... System, with the massive amount of mana that I have stored up right now, how many monsters can I spawn to fight for me?’
[Error. You cannot use your maximum stored mana.]
[You can only use the maximum innate mana capacity of your dungeon’s current level.]
[You can only create real monsters.]
