Chapter 247: Chapter 247: Lan Cangming and Anan 4 (Finale)

"Damn it!"

Su An’an felt her power being devoured, and the transparency of her tail fin began to spread again.

Lan Cangming shielded her, but his blue scales turned a deathly gray in the black mist.

Just then, a faint light flickered in both their minds—the ethereal image of an ancient book glowing with Golden Light.

The four words on the cover, *Mermaid Love Treasure Book*, were exceptionally clear.

"It’s the Spiritual Resonance Technique we cultivated together!"

Su An’an understood instantly, pressing her palm against Lan Cangming’s chest.

Lan Cangming’s icy blue light and her pink Divine Light intertwined into a spiral.

Their spiritual power merged like a tidal wave, and the ethereal image of the ancient book flipped rapidly through its pages in their minds.

"With love as our shield and our hearts as our blade!"

As they shouted in unison, the fused Divine Light cleaved through the black mist like a sharp sword.

The red claws let out a blood-curdling shriek, sizzling as they were scorched by the light.

The humanoid silhouette in the statue’s abdomen shrieked madly before shattering into countless Red Crystals in the brilliant light.

"No!" Chi Ya turned to ash along with the Red Crystals.

The deep-sea canyon began to collapse, debris raining down like stones.

The Sea Witch suddenly rushed out from the shadows, roaring at the dissipating Red Crystals, "My lord!"

Before his voice could fade, a falling piece of black crystal pierced his heart, his dark green carapace instantly stained red with blood.

Lan Cangming wrapped an arm around Su An’an’s waist, his silver-blue mermaid tail cutting through the water. "Let’s go!"

As they shot out of the canyon, a deafening ROAR echoed from behind them. The entire abyssal chasm had completely caved in.

Morning light pierced the surface of the sea, shining on their clasped hands. The Calming Pearl and the Divine Contract Mark lit up simultaneously.

The spawning grounds, once polluted to an inky black, were visibly fading back to a translucent blue.

Even the coral reefs in the deepest parts began to show their vibrant red hues once more.

"Over here."

Su An’an patted his shoulder, her pink mermaid tail pointing toward a sunken grove of coral.

A dozen or so younglings were huddled there. Their deformed scales clung to their bodies like withered leaves, and their tail fins were tattered like gnawed-on seashells.

Lan Cangming stopped. The icy blue light gathered in his palm intertwined with her pink light, and he slowly extended it over the younglings.

In the light, the ugly scales rustled and fell away, revealing newborn skin with a pearlescent sheen underneath.

The smallest of the younglings tentatively swished its newly grown tail fin. The resulting splash landed on the back of Su An’an’s hand, warm to the touch.

"There now."

Su An’an chuckled softly, her fingertips tracing the youngling’s smooth back. "It won’t hurt anymore."

Lan Cangming’s gaze fell on the transparency at the edge of her tail fin that had yet to fully fade. His throat bobbed. "Your tail."

"It’ll heal eventually."

Just as the words left Su An’an’s lips, Lei Ya hurriedly swam over with a squad of Mermaid Guards. Cradled in his eight tentacles was a crystalline vial with a dark green powder settled at the bottom.

"Marshal! I found it!"

Lei Ya’s voice was filled with rage.

"We found this on the Sea Witch’s body. The toxin from the spawning coral is a perfect match!"

"He’s the one who mixed the poison using Red Coral Powder and put it in the younglings’ nutrient solution!"

Lan Cangming took the vial, his fingertips turning white from the force of his grip.

Complex emotions churned in his icy blue eyes—hatred for the Sea Witch’s deception. And even more so, self-loathing.

He remembered the cold interrogations in the Water Prison, the hand he had pressed against her neck, and the words, "Plenty of strength to wait for death, I see!"

"Anan," he said suddenly, his voice as hoarse as if it had been scraped with sandpaper. "I..."

"Stop." Su An’an reached out and covered his mouth, her pink mermaid tail gently hooking around his waist.

"I know what you’re going to say."

She stood on her tiptoes, pressing her forehead against his chin. "When you were controlled by the curse, you could have run me through with your sword."

Lan Cangming’s eyelashes trembled.

"But you didn’t," she said with a smile, the light in her eyes brighter than the morning sun.

"To hold on to that last shred of reason at a time like that... you’re already incredible, my Marshal."

「Sunlight trickled through the glazed dome of the Empire Palace.」

Su An’an and Lan Cangming had just stepped into the main hall when the Four Great Beast Husbands came to greet them.

Seville was holding a youngling in each arm.

The six-month-old Swan Priest, their son, was quiet and calm.

But his sister, the Monarch Butterfly, was flapping her wings and reaching for Su An’an, gurgling, "Mother Empress!"

The little fox infant in Fei Zhao’s arms was sleeping soundly.

Ying Jiuyao and Night Abyss stood off to the side, one with his arms crossed and a cold expression, the other leaning lazily against a pillar.

"What took you so long on this mission?" Ying Jiuyao raised an eyebrow. "Is Hong Chengtian dealt with?"

Su An’an and Lan Cangming exchanged a look, their expressions grave.

"We found the statue of Poseidon."

Su An’an said in a low voice, "Everything was going smoothly, but just as we were about to seal it..."

She paused, her fingertips unconsciously rubbing the golden mark on her wrist that hadn’t completely faded. "We were cursed."

"A curse?" Fei Zhao frowned. The little fox infant in his arms seemed to sense something and let out a soft whimper.

"Amnesia."

Lan Cangming added coldly, "We forgot each other. We even... nearly killed one another."

The Four Great Beast Husbands’ expressions all changed at once.

"Hong Chengtian’s power is getting stranger and stranger."

Night Abyss narrowed his eyes. "I’ve never heard of his curses being able to manipulate memories before."

Su An’an nodded, gathering a wisp of Golden Light in her palm.

"The most troublesome part is that I can feel his remaining three hearts have fused."

The hall fell silent.

The Monarch Butterfly sister in Seville’s arms suddenly burst into tears. WAH!

But her Swan brother reached out a small hand and gently patted her wing as if to comfort her.

"So this time,"

Su An’an looked around at everyone, her voice firm. "We must all act together."

Ying Jiuyao sneered. "It’s about time." ℴ

Just then, Little Pink suddenly popped up.

"Master! The ultimate battle plan has been calculated! To completely eliminate Hong Chengtian, two conditions must be met:"

"First, all Beast Husbands must upgrade to Level 4S!"

"Second, we must gather the Energy resonance of all five Divine Beast younglings!"

The hall immediately erupted into chaos.

Ying Jiuyao shot to his feet, his black and gold vertical pupils shining with a frightening light. "Finally, the day has come."

Night Abyss’s snake tail slapped happily against the floor. "Looks like I need to hurry things up."

"Wait!"

Fei Zhao suddenly bristled. "Seville and I have already completed our missions. Does that mean we don’t get our turn with Anan?"

Seville interrupted with a grim face, "At least you got a honeymoon."

He held up the twin younglings. "Aside from changing diapers, I haven’t even touched Anan’s little finger."

Fei Zhao’s fox ears immediately perked up happily.

’Alright! As long as the Swan has it worse than me, I’m happy.’

"Ahem!"

The tips of Su An’an’s ears turned red, but her face was serious.

"Next, the priority will be to help Night Abyss and Lan Cangming upgrade, and also..."

She glanced at Ying Jiuyao. "...to complete the set of Divine Beast younglings as soon as possible."

SNAP! Little Pink instantly projected a holographic screen. "To ensure fairness, we will use a random lottery system!"

Night Abyss’s scarlet vertical pupils contracted sharply. "I don’t need a lottery."

DING! The screen flashed: [First in line: Ying Jiuyao]

The Big Cat’s tail slapped happily against the floor. "My luck isn’t bad!"

DING! [Second in line: Lan Cangming]

The Night Abyss Dragon Tail went rigid in an instant. "Wait!"

DING! [Third in line: Night Abyss]

Fei Zhao, holding the fox youngling, burst out laughing. "HAHAHA! Serves you right!"

"I don’t accept this!"

Night Abyss gritted his teeth, but Su An’an cut him off. "For the next year: upgrade, conceive, and prepare for war!"

Ying Jiuyao eagerly wrapped an arm around her waist. "Then let’s start tonight..."
