Chapter 310: Nemur’s Gaze [2]
"Cough... cough"
Haa...
Hm?
Looking at my hands, there was no blood on them.
Maybe I had recovered from whatever was happening with my body.
Was it the result of overextending myself?
I had to take a good rest, but first there were some important things to do.
I had a decent idea about what kind of person the headmaster was, and as I hadn’t revealed the identity of the parasite to him... he would be sure to focus his Gaze on me, at least until I was on the grounds of Namda.
After going to the Levaith Duchy, the headmaster wouldn’t be able to monitor me, as that would risk the intervention of the Sovereigns under the banner of the Veltran Empire.
At the end of the day, focusing his gaze on someone else’s territory was equal to invading them.
The headmaster wouldn’t risk the misinterpretation of his actions being turned into the very reason for some new war against him.
Though the headmaster should have no reservations about monitoring me closely in the academy... so I had to be good enough to use his gaze to intimidate someone.
After all, I had to level the playing field.
Walking through the hallway, I made my way towards Diana’s dorm.
It was time to forge a new deal and get a new... tool to play with.

Remembering the day’s events, Diana couldn’t help but chuckle to herself.
The kid surely had a knack for saying things that could very well result in the end of his life.
Calling her a weakling... Diana had to use all her willpower to stop herself from taking off the kid’s head from the rest of his body.
Diana knew that it was her body that Kael had referred to as a weakling.
And no matter what, it was the truth.
The body was merely at Silver 1, something that was realistically a pathetic rank to have.
Though she couldn’t blame the little girl, as reaching Silver 1 at a young age was a feat in itself, at least according to the current era.
During her time, she had reached the rank quite easily, without expending a lot of effort.
After all, she had always been one of the greatest talents in the history of this world.
Still, Kael’s words had somehow been able to overwhelm her sense of logic and made her truly upset enough to kill the poor soul.
It was Kael’s luck that she had changed her mind at the end, or else the Frosts would have been mourning their son’s death at the moment.
Though Diana wasn’t foolish enough to kill someone who was an important piece on the greater board.
Then there was the matter of her identity being revealed if she, as a Silver 1, had indeed killed Kael, who was a monster even in his own rank.
If given enough time to live, Diana was sure that the kid would achieve Immortality.
Knock. Knock.
Diana’s thoughts were interrupted as someone knocked on her door.
"Come in."
Sensing Kael’s presence behind the door, Diana uttered the words as if she had been expecting him.
Click.
"Do you always leave it open?"
Though Kael had asked the question, Diana wasn’t able to process any of his words.
Her eyes had frozen and so had her breathing.
"Are you okay?"
Kael’s voice felt soothing, but before Diana could reply to him, she felt the warmth of his hands on her shoulders.
Knowing her reaction could be a disaster for her, Diana quickly composed herself, though her heartbeat had raced for the first time in a while.
Just now Diana had felt it, and she was sure of that.
Nemur... it was Nemur’s gaze that had been on her... no, maybe it was meant for him.
Looking at Kael, his face was now closer to her, as he slightly raised her chin with the index finger of his hand.
His eyes were extremely close to her, and for the first time Diana observed their beauty.
Those dark pupils of his eyes were far darker than what the average humans had.
It was as if the colour was meant to distinguish his bloodline from the rest.
"Diana... are you okay?"
Kael once again repeated his question, though the tone of his voice had turned even softer than before.
Diana wanted to ask him about the events that could have led to Nemur focusing his gaze on this very place.
Though logically Diana knew that Nemur’s attention was on Kael, she couldn’t help but feel a tinge of anxiety thinking that her existence had been revealed to Nemur.
Fighting Nemur now meant that all her attempts to stay hidden from the eyes of the world would go to waste, and Diana couldn’t afford such an extreme loss.
"I am fine."
Placing her hand on Kael’s shoulder, Diana pretended to stabilize herself, as she distanced herself from the former.
"Are you sure?"
"Huh?"
"Your face looks a little pale."
Kael’s words were followed by another episode of warmth on Diana’s cheeks as he cupped them in both of his hands.
Kael’s actions were out of the box for Diana, but she didn’t let the events affect her sense of logic.
Knowing her body’s original nature and personality, Diana quickly willed her eyes to water... not to the extent of crying, but just enough to make them naturally moist.
At the same time, Diana increased the protections around her body to not let her presence be discovered by Nemur.
Though it wasn’t difficult for her to do so, she still had to be extra careful so as to not make Nemur suspicious of her.
Because the only reason she had been able to hide from the eyes of the world until now was that no one knew that she had possessed some living being to live on without being detected.
The moment Nemur became even remotely suspicious of her... a single gaze from him would be enough to eliminate all her protective formations around the current body of her existence.
To maintain her secret, Diana could in no way use her actual powers, as that would leave the traces of her presence in the areas that she had been in.
