The Villain Reborn as Game's Final Boss

Chapter 290: News [2]

"Fear not, I am what one could call a considerate person. Owing to my consideration, my men had attacked only the places that had been bugging my mind for quite some time."

That was quite the way to take the blame for the attack.

I had to commend Antra’s creativity.

"Charity is something that repulses me to the core."

The tone of Antra’s voice had dropped down, making each of his words feel heavier than the last one.

"This world has thrived on a single rule... that is the survival of the strongest. And to destabilize that law, someone had to take the fall for such blasphemy."

Blasphemy, huh.

I had begun to feel curious about the god that Antra served, or if he was indeed a real being and not some imaginary concept created by these lunatics.

But having witnessed glimpses of Antra’s power, there was no way his god would be a nobody.

Still, if the world had beings like Sovereigns, then what would be the cultivation level of the so-called gods, or did their power work in a way completely different from normal living organisms?

Even in the game, the cults had been formed after the gods that they worshipped, but the identity of the said gods hadn’t even been given the preference.

Maybe that was because the game was focused on the growth of the protagonist.

Only those who had to directly fight with Noah were mentioned along with a little of their backstories.

As for the rest... on my part, I didn’t know the identities of any of the said gods.

"Syma and businesses like them have greatly disappointed me. Working for the welfare... haa, how could someone be so inconsiderate to me?"

It felt like Antra was pouting, just in a way that was kind of creepy.

The tone of his voice had dropped even further than before, making it seem like the guy was whispering at the end.

Still, I couldn’t deny the effect that his whisper had on me.

Though I had already channelled mana through my body to remove any lingering effects, I could guess how others might have been feeling by hearing Antra’s whisper.

There wasn’t any need for me to do an analysis of the people around me. Their frozen faces along with the fluctuations of mana in their bodies were proof enough that Antra’s words... they were affecting the very souls of these people.

I couldn’t help but be curious about how the normal people with no cultivation whatsoever would be faring right now.

Would they be crippled by it?

Maybe not.

Antra wasn’t a fool, and nor were the Sovereigns and the Immortals that resided in the different parts of the world.

If Antra’s words had any direct lethal effect on the general public, then surely their protectors would have intervened and stopped Antra’s influence.

But seeing that no one had interfered until now, it was pretty clear... Antra was just messing around.

Still, the way in which Antra had revealed the existence of his cult was quite impulsive.

He shouldn’t have appeared before the eyes of the world and should have let his subordinates do the announcement.

Haa...

There was no use debating over the choices made by someone with whom I shared little to no connection.

"Now that they had hurt my feelings, I thought it was only right for me to punish them in some way or the other."

Though Antra’s face wasn’t clearly visible, everyone could clearly see his lips stretching into a small smile.

The smile... for some reason, it had begun to send shivers down my spine.

It wasn’t like I was scared of the theatrics that Antra was performing right now—

Honestly, there was no need for me to be scared of Antra, as going by logic, neither of us had any reason to be hostile to each other.

Still, looking at Antra’s smile right this instant, I couldn’t help but feel my instincts kicking in so as to warn me against the possible threat.

"Still, it was my god’s mercy that had let those poor souls survive through the attack that my men had carried out across all the institutions related to the peasants of Syma."

Though I hadn’t asked about it to Antra, I had become curious about his god and that god’s acquaintance who knew about me being the head of D.X.

It was clear that they knew a lot about me and maybe even had the answers behind my soul being transferred to the body of Kael Frost.

There were still many mysteries that were unanswered, but someday or the other I would be able to uncover them.

But for that to happen, I would need to find a way to get this beast under control.

Staring at Antra through the screen, I couldn’t help but evaluate the ways in which he would serve a good use.

But Antra wasn’t the same as Arthur.

It was only because of Arthur’s principled nature that I was able to control him without having my head detached from my body.

Antra, on the other hand, looked like the least trustworthy guy out there in the world.

"I think I have said enough. Just a reminder for the lot of you.... my god’s mercy has its own limits. Praise my lord or be purified by me."

The recording stopped at the end as silence enveloped the entire place.

Though I still found Antra’s speech to be lacking in terms of its effectiveness.

He should have been more direct and should have warned the world about supporting Syma.

Haa...

Well, it wasn’t like I could order the guy around.

I had to be satisfied with the current chain of events.

Looking around, most of the people seemed shocked by the sudden warning, with some of them having begun to panic.

It wasn’t like they were scared of Antra’s words—

No.

The warning itself wasn’t that dangerous.

It was the invisible pressure released on the souls of the people here that had left them in a panicked and terrified state of mind.
