Chapter 673: Chapter 308: Spring Day Interlude (4)

The female bodyguard looked surprised.

Uncle Ah Lai chuckled coldly as he watched everything.

Gu Weijing suddenly felt bored.

The military police’s apologies were boring, and the station chief’s kindly smile as he greeted Mr. Chen on his behalf was also boring.

The misunderstanding was fake.

Everywhere, the fear and trepidation of small power colliding with great power was real.

Money makes the mare go.

The true top tycoons, with the influence they wield in this city, are as fearsome as Brother Hao.

Right or wrong does not matter; their attitudes are what matter in the end, and this is the terrifying aspect of power.

Among their group, only Miss Sakai seriously accepted the apologies from the military police.

She had heard about the chaos in Myanmar.

However, given her social circle and the surroundings of the Aman Hotel, the security situation wasn’t that bad.

Today, Koizumi Katsuko got a glimpse of another side of this place.

Usually gentle, Shengzi uncharacteristically kept a straight face, listened to the patrol’s apology without a smile, nodded, and turned away.

The trouble had just been resolved.

Gu Weijing’s phone rang again.

“Flamboyant genius always affectionate, little friend Gu Weijing. To be honest, managing to woo Yakai Ichiro’s beautiful daughter is even more enviable than painting with Mr. Cao Xuan.”

The collector’s voice came over the line: “Bringing glory to the nation, congratulations.”

In their brief contact, Gu Weijing remembered Chen Shenglin as a dignified, learned, and serious person.

He didn’t expect such an interesting side to him in private.

“Mr. Chen, thank you—”

“Call me Uncle Chen. I like interesting youngsters; you’re the most interesting person of your age group I’ve met.” Chen Shenglin remarked with great charisma, laughing: “I just finished talking with the Japanese suppliers and have to arrange for them to be entertained at the banquet, inviting some young girls to join. The air is filled with the scent of decayed money and sex. I want to chat with young people to clear my mind.”

Some uncles tell dirty jokes at the table, their crudeness suffocating.

But when Chen Shenglin spoke so bluntly, it surprisingly sounded not distasteful.

“These things are always disgusting, making me feel like, even after all these years of hard work, I’m still an unrefined pimp. A pimp takes a few hundred Myanmar Kyats from between a young girl’s parted legs; I rake in a couple of Toyota production lines; fundamentally, there’s no difference.”

The sound of the wind came through the receiver.

It sounded like Boss Chen was in a car on his way to the banquet: “When I dialed your number, I thought in my heart, the reason these wealthy men don’t get puked on by the young, beautiful girls they’re kissing is only because I’ve paid them. A young man like you being able to date a beauty like Miss Sakai is due to your charm and excellence.”

“With luck, opportunity, or a good father, anyone could be as wealthy as me. Someone with true personal charm, however, is very rare. In this respect, you’re better than me.”

“Mr. Chen, you’re too humorous.”

Gu Weijing was amused by the collector.

“Uncle Chen,” the middle-aged voice corrected over the phone.

“Uncle Chen, thank you.”

Gu Weijing knew there were a million young people in this city who would love to call this industrialist uncle.

He was respected, and only for that would he speak to him this way.

He was not someone to disrespect such goodwill, so he obediently changed his words.

“No, you’ve made me genuinely feel that we locals are superior to the foreign investors, so I ought to thank you. Prepare well for your painting, I have high hopes for you, but I still anticipate being amazed by it. Remember our agreement.”

Chen Shenglin chuckled lightly: “Oh, apologize to Miss Sakai for me. Yangon is a beautiful and gentle city; Maum, Orwell Kipling, and André Malraux were all moved by the natural beauty here. I’m sorry she saw another side of our city, hope it didn’t scare her.”
