The Undead Calamity Begins with a Graveyard Demon
Chapter 175 - 174: Besiege and Kill
Chapter 175: Chapter 174: Besiege and Kill
A pale white undead torrent and a blue-green tide of Lizardmen, like two equally matched, raging waves, crashed into each other on the scorched and ruined earth. The dull thuds of impact and sharp, piercing roars instantly tore through the night sky, echoing across the entire battlefield.
Unlike before, when the Lizardmen had overwhelmed them with sheer numbers, this time, the blue-green tide could no longer maintain its overwhelming advance. Instead, it was firmly held in check by the white undead torrent.
The white torrent, composed of Skeletons and Death Knights, was like a sharp blade quenched in ghostly fire. Driven by a death-defying fearlessness, it tore through the blue-green tide’s defensive line. It advanced unstoppably toward the rear of the Lizardman torrent, shattering their once-orderly formation into pieces.
The Skeletons and Lizardmen scattered by the charge were strewn across every corner of the battlefield. Unable to keep up with the main force, they became entangled in combat on the spot.
Wooden Spears crossed, and the CRACK of splintering bone mingled with the shrieks of dying Lizardmen.
Some Skeletons, their ribs pierced through, still lunged forward swinging their weapons. Some Lizardmen, their arms severed, still clawed madly with their remaining limb. The battlefield was no longer a one-sided charge but had devolved into a chaotic free-for-all.
Those scattered Skeletons and Lizardmen who failed to keep up with the main forces engaged in small-scale skirmishes all over the battlefield. There was no strategy, no technique—only the most primitive slaughter and collisions. Every swing of a spear, every pounce, was accompanied by casualties and destruction.
Standing atop the wall, Gu Su stared intently at the turning tide of battle below. A sharp glint flashed in his eyes. Without the slightest hesitation, his voice calm yet filled with unquestionable resolve, he commanded, "Attack! Minivan squads, full-force assault!"
As the command was issued, the Suburban Wolf, Plague Corpses, and Broken Bones Undead Squads sprang into action, driving three minivans. Shrouded by Black Fog, they instantly appeared on the battlefield.
Unlike the Five Ghosts Combat Team’s previous tactic of circling the enemy’s perimeter in an off-road vehicle while tossing Poisonous Qi, these three squads showed no fear. They drove their minivans right through the loose Lizardman formation, charging straight for the densest core of the enemy throng.
The Suburban Wolf Squad was the first to strike.
Their minivan, like a bolt of white lightning, sped along the edge of the Lizardman throng, leaving a trail of mangled limbs in its wake.
The doors burst open, and twenty-five pale figures leaped out. Wielding Bone Swords, they charged directly at the nearest group of Lizardmen.
Suburban Wolf led the charge, the Bone Sword in his hand carving an arc through the air that sliced three oncoming Lizardmen in half at the waist.
Next came the Plague Corpses Squad.
Their minivan plunged directly into the densest core of the Lizardman horde. Before the doors were even fully open, a cloud of dark green mist was already billowing out from inside.
When the Walking Dead Warriors jumped down from the van, their entire bodies reeked of the pungent stench of Corpse Poison. Every swing of their Warhammers was trailed by a faint green glow.
Any Lizardman they struck collapsed on the spot, its wounds rapidly festering and turning black before it could even let out a scream.
The Broken Bones Squad flanked them from another direction.
They charged into the very spot where the Lizardmen were attempting to regroup.
The Lizardmen who had just gathered together were smashed from the flank by twenty-five Skeleton Warriors and scattered before they could even form ranks.
Broken Bones himself led the charge, every thrust of his Bone Sword precisely striking a throat or an eye socket.
What was even more terrifying was that the moment a slain Lizardman fell, the Skeletons of the Broken Bones Squad would casually snap a bone from the corpse and embed it into a damaged spot on their own bodies.
Cracked ribs, pierced shoulder blades—all were patched up mid-combat.
The three minivan squads were like three sharp daggers, simultaneously plunging deep into the Lizardman formation from three different directions.
The Lizardmen, who had already been scattered by the Skeleton Team, now fell into complete chaos.
They didn’t know which side to fight first or which direction to flee, driven by instinct to simply scurry about in a panic.
Meanwhile, the Bone Dog team, newly summoned by the Gravepile, followed the sounds of slaughter and pounced on the enemy like bolts of white lightning. With fangs bared, they snarled as they tore at the Lizardmen’s limbs and throats, becoming a significant force in pinning down the enemy.
And the Skeleton Team, which had already punched through the Lizardman ranks, unhesitatingly wheeled around under the lead of eight Death Knights. They charged back with the ferocity of tigers returning to their mountain, catching the Lizardmen in a pincer attack that trapped them completely in the center of the battlefield.
’Gu Su knew that these pathetic Lizardmen were only Level 0. They had only managed to suppress him for so long by relying on sheer numbers; their individual combat strength wasn’t high at all.’
Now that his Undead Team’s numbers had surpassed the enemy’s, the tide of battle had naturally and fundamentally reversed.
The Lizardmen could no longer charge forward recklessly as they had before. They were forced to turn around and engage in a desperate struggle against the Undead Team pincer-attacking them from front and rear.
But even so, the Lizardmen had no chance of winning.
Every single Undead under Gu Su’s command had combat strength far exceeding these Level 0 cannon-fodder Lizardmen. Even the Ordinary Skeletons temporarily summoned via Soul Summoning were Level 1. As long as they gripped their weapons, they could overwhelm the Lizardmen with their superior Power and more resilient bodies.
Furthermore, the Death Knights and the Undead from the Suburban Wolf, Plague Corpses, and Broken Bones squads were like life-reaping machines. Every Attack they made claimed the lives of several Lizardmen.
More critically, Skeletons possessed a unique advantage: they had extremely high resistance to piercing attacks.
After all, the crude Long Spears wielded by the Lizardmen could, for the most part, only pass through the gaps between a Skeleton’s bones, failing to inflict any fatal damage.
This unique advantage allowed the Skeleton Team to be completely in their element. They charged forward heedlessly, right into the Lizardmen’s Long Spears. Even fighting with all their might, the Lizardmen could not fully repel this pale white offensive.
The initial charge gradually devolved into a chaotic melee. Like wheat before a scythe, the blue-green Lizardmen fell one by one to Gu Su’s Undead. Corpses piled up rapidly on the battlefield, and the stench of blood and burnt flesh grew ever stronger.
Watching the one-sided battle below, Gu Su, still standing on the wall, finally let out a slow sigh of relief as his tense nerves began to unwind.
He looked down and scanned the battlefield’s surroundings but did not rush to order his troops to clean up the aftermath.
The night had yet to recede, and the horizon was still pitch-black. He couldn’t be certain whether other waves of Lizardmen were lurking nearby. If he rashly sent out a unit to clean up the battlefield now, not only would they be unable to collect the corpses efficiently, but they might also disrupt the flow of battle and even lead his troops into a potential ambush.
Of course, Gu Su didn’t remain idle. He leaped off the wall, ran to the still-incomplete cockpit, and sat in the main driver’s seat. He began to Control the Graveyard Demon, slowly turning it and making it lumber toward the battlefield.
