"Hahaha, I didn’t expect you to be an academic type!"

Lü You pointed at Gu Su and laughed with abandon, his face alight with wild amusement, as if he’d just heard something hilarious.

After laughing for a good while, he slowly shook his head, his tone a mixture of resignation and a barely perceptible hint of smugness.

"What you’re asking for is pretty difficult to arrange.

Once you’re out of school, it’s next to impossible to go back for a formal education.

And out here, knowledge in the Game World is priceless. No one’s going to teach you for free."

He paused and began patiently laying out the options for Gu Su. "You can either sift through the various scattered books in the game, painstakingly searching for useful knowledge and slowly teaching yourself.

Or, you can join a reliable gaming Guild and pull some strings to find a mentor. Only then can you learn things systematically.

Besides those two options, there really isn’t another way."

At this, Lü You reached down and pulled open a drawer under his desk with a soft CLANK. His tone softened. "Ah, forget it. Seeing as you’re genuinely trying to learn and you’re so sincere about it, I’ll give you a hand.

Whether you have a Mobile City or a stationary one, at their core, they’re both just ’cities.’ The fundamental principles are the same."

He took a thick, yellow-paged book with worn corners from the drawer and gently pushed it across the desk to Gu Su. He gestured with his chin. "This book should be useful to you. Take it. Once you’ve read it, make sure to really think it over. It’ll help you manage your city."

Gu Su quickly looked down. Inked in a bold, black script on the cover were the words *Circulation, the Foundation of the City!* The calligraphy was strong and forceful, and it was clear the book was old, its pages bearing the distinct marks of frequent use.

It was obvious the book’s previous owner had treasured it dearly.

He immediately accepted the book with both hands, clutching it carefully to his chest. A look of sincere gratitude spread across his face as he hurriedly thanked Lü You. "Thank you so much, Brother Lü!

I’m so grateful. I’ll never forget this favor!"

Lü You waved his hand dismissively, his expression nonchalant as if he’d just handed over something trivial. He continued, casually giving out instructions.

"All right, all right, enough with the thanks.

I’ve already made the arrangements. You’ll be stationed at Section 72 of the Southeast Defense Line.

Your Defense zone will be an area stretching eight kilometers deep and ten kilometers wide."

He paused, and although a hint of impatience crept into his voice, he continued to explain the mission details, knowing he had to make things clear.

"Your task is simple: clean up the stragglers that the main city guard units up ahead fail to eliminate.

Remember, within your assigned zone, all the loot from any enemies you kill is yours. No one will fight you for it."

"Later, head over to the processing plant to the west and collect your Deployment Fee. That’s your supply budget for manning the defense line.

If your Mobile City needs any repairs or reinforcements, you can have the folks at the plant handle it. They have the professional tools and materials."

"You’ll head out first thing tomorrow morning. I’ve already sent the exact coordinates for the defense line to your game panel. When you’re ready, just send the signal. Someone will come and tow you to the precise location, so you don’t have to find your own way."

Gu Su nodded quickly, committing every word Lü You said to memory. He then seized the chance to lay on some praise, his tone enthusiastic and sincere. "Thank you for going to all this trouble, Brother Lü. You’re incredible, you’ve thought of everything!

With you in charge, we’ll handle this Beast Tide with ease!"

The flattery made Lü You grin from ear to ear. He waved his hand, dismissing Gu Su.

Clutching the book, Gu Su thanked him one more time before turning, gently pushing the door open, and leaving the inner office.

The moment he stepped out of the office and back into the main hall, the other players who had been waiting immediately crowded around him. Their faces were alight with curiosity as they all started asking questions. "Hey, man, how’d it go?

Where did the big shot in there assign you? What’s the deal?"

Gu Su smiled and waved his hand, briefly telling them he’d been assigned to Section 72 of the Southeast Defense Line. He didn’t mention the book Lü You had given him. ’It’s best not to flaunt your wealth. In this Game World, being too flashy can easily attract trouble.’

"The Southeast Defense Line? That’s a great spot!"

Bu Ping couldn’t help but exclaim in envy after hearing this.

Seeing the confused look on Gu Su’s face, Bu Ping realized he didn’t understand the situation. He casually picked up a piece of charcoal from the floor and began sketching a simple map of the defense lines on a nearby sheet-metal wall, explaining as he drew.

"The DT-501 District, where we are now, is on the outer edge of the Ring Moon’s southeast corner. It’s part of the second defense line.

Because of our southeastern position, the area further out is the DT-601 District. That’s the territory of Elemental Series players and the main battlefield against this Beast Tide. Most of the powerful enemies will be stopped by them there."

"The core mission for our DT-501 District is to deal with the enemies that break through the main battlefield’s front lines and slip past.

And in front of your post at Section 72 of the Southeast Defense Line, our own district’s regular Defense forces are holding the line. They’ll clear out most of the tougher enemies first."

Bu Ping paused, then patted Gu Su’s shoulder with a relaxed smile. "So, the chances of any heavy hitters showing up at your position are extremely low. Anything that makes it through will just be weak little grunts.

To put it bluntly, your job is basically just to clean up the battlefield—mop up the trash. It’s safe, and even though you’re only facing grunts, there will be a ton of them, so the rewards won’t be bad at all. It’s a cushy gig, a real bargain!"

After listening to Bu Ping’s Explanation, Gu Su finally understood the whole picture, and a weight was lifted from his shoulders.

’I was worried the defense line would be too dangerous. I never thought it would be such a safe and profitable post.’

At the same time, he instantly understood why the conscription order hadn’t been widely circulated in Ghost Valley. ’That region must be much farther back,’ he thought. ’The Beast Tide can’t even reach it, so naturally, there’s no need for a large-scale mobilization of players for support.’

"All right, my friend, your Luck is really something else, landing such a great spot."

Bu Ping clapped Gu Su on the shoulder and offered a friendly reminder, "When you go to the processing plant to collect your Deployment Fee, have them craft you some practical Defense tools and stock up on reinforcement materials."

If you don’t really need tools, then have them prepare plenty of ammo instead. You can never have too much of that stuff during a Beast Tide. It could save your life in a pinch."
