the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart
Chapter 1686 Marcus Quinn’s Dominance
Marcus and Ah Dan returned to the Holiday Village. They didn’t even have time to tally up the expenses from their trip to the Imperial City. Irving Spencer’s family and Old Man Weng, along with Oliver Zolotov, who hadn’t had Marcus’ cooking in a week, came rushing in upon hearing the news, crowding the place once more.
"You little rascal, how could you keep such a big thing from us?" Old Man Weng was furious, almost jumping up and down. He wasn’t prepared at all, thinking where in this secluded mountain could he buy wedding gifts.
"Exactly, marrying such a beautiful and capable wife, yet you’re acting all shy." Oliver Zolotov said with a hearty laugh.
Marcus was unpacking some deliveries from the Imperial City, all of which were wedding-related beddings and such. Caught right in the act, he had to bear the teasing from everyone around.
"Alright, you guys are really something. Marcus and Ah Dan finally got their marriage certificate, you are all elders, and it’s fine if you haven’t prepared wedding gifts, but teasing the younger ones—watch out, or Marcus might not cook for you all anymore." Auntie Shui quipped at Old Man Weng and the others, while Uncle Spencer happily rapped his tobacco pipe, his face creased with smiles.
Ah, Irving is married and has kids, and now even Marcus has a wife. The Holiday Village’s business is getting better and better; it’s really a double blessing.
Marcus and Ah Dan didn’t talk about what happened in the Imperial City. They just briefly mentioned that a restaurant was going to be opened there, and the village’s lands would be utilized to expand the planting base. People here still didn’t know about the Duncan and Yarn family affairs.
"Wait, wait, wait! I’ll have my son prepare some wedding gifts and send them over right away. I am still looking forward to staying a bit longer. If I return to the provincial capital, life will be tough." Old Man Weng thought about how the provincial capital couldn’t compare to the countryside, with its traffic and noise.
"Old Man Weng, why not inquire if Green County can attract investment for high-end nursing homes?" Oliver Zolotov had gotten addicted to this rural life during his stay. He leisurely conducted his research every day, enjoying meals better than those at a five-star hotel and living comfortably, allowing his health to flourish.
After all, Marcus dotes on his wife, using the best ingredients without sparing any cost, so they get to enjoy as well.
"Haha, you got a point there. I always thought I’d end up in a nursing home anyway and not live with my son and daughter-in-law to avoid any conflicts." Old Man Weng’s eyes shone bright with the idea. Even without a project, they could still work connections to attract investment to Green County.
"Then you quickly go back and discuss." Uncle Spencer noticed the conversation was veering off course and wanted to send people away. He still needed to talk to Marcus about arranging the wedding.
"Marcus, are you cooking tonight?" Old Man Weng clung to Oliver Zolotov as he left but remembered to turn back and ask.
"Yes." Marcus nodded. After a week in the Imperial City, he couldn’t take a lot of the self-prepared ingredients from the village, so he needed to prepare something delicious for Ah Dan in the evening.
"Great." Old Man Weng walked off happily.
"Marcus, what are your plans for the wedding?" Uncle Spencer asked with a smile.
Marcus glanced at Ah Dan, seeing her still a bit shy in front of others, he smiled and said, "It’s nearing the end of the year, so definitely not this year. We plan to pick a good day next year. But as for where to hold it, Ah Dan and I still need to discuss."
Originally, they decided to hold it at the Holiday Village, but after their trip to the Imperial City, they owed a lot of social debts. When it comes to weddings, there are many people they need to invite, and most of them are from the top families in the Imperial City, so it required careful consideration.
"You could have two ceremonies," Irving suggested with a smile. "I have many college classmates who hold one ceremony at their hometown and another in the city where they work. You could host a banquet here at the Holiday Village for the entire village, which would give the leaders from Green County and Suton a chance to attend and also promote the Holiday Village. Then, you could have another ceremony in the Imperial City."
Ah Dan’s eyes lit up; it made sense. It takes the experience of someone who’s been through it. She hadn’t thought of holding a wedding in Seacoast. The complexities of human relations made her wary; some noble families she knew were like wolves in sheep’s clothing, and her Aunt’s family had long been envious of theirs, turning kinship into enmity. To her, Seacoast held little nostalgia. Holding weddings at the Holiday Village and the Imperial City would suffice.
However, with this, the wedding guests would mostly be from the groom’s side. Ah Dan felt a bit disheartened.
Seeing this, Marcus reached out and held her slightly cold hand and smiled, "Yeah, we need to prepare well in advance. Uncle Spencer, how’s the Holiday Village faring this week while we were away?"
