the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart

Chapter 1509 - 1499: Let’s Go Home, It’s Cold Outside

  • Next Chapter

Constantine Stewart waited in the cold wind for half an hour, then saw the Shaw Family people quietly leave the scene. He stepped forward to greet the old lady and then looked directly at Chloe Winston, who was wearing a down jacket.

Chloe Winston wore a snow-white rabbit fur hat and gloves, her whole being looked like a little penguin, with her face slightly reddened by the harsh winter of the Imperial City.

The old lady, sensible as she was, took her entourage back home, instructing Constantine Stewart to see Chloe Winston home properly.

"Are you cold?" Under streetlights as bright as daylight, Constantine Stewart glanced at the sky where snowflakes were gently falling again, reached out to take off the scarf from his neck, and wrapped it around her.

The scarf, still carrying the man’s body heat, instantly warmed her chilly neck.

"The snow is really big in the Imperial City this year." Chloe Winston lowered her gaze, her thick and curly lashes casting a crescent-shaped shadow on her translucent skin. She spoke softly, then walked forward, stepping on the thick snow.

"Mm." Constantine Stewart looked at the cars going in the opposite direction, remained silent, and quietly walked alongside her, strolling slowly in the snow.

"Have you been well these three months?" The man asked in a deep voice. Although he often saw her updates on social media and knew she wasn’t hiding, and even rushed back to the Imperial City on Chinese New Year’s Eve, despite Constantine Stewart’s outward calm, his heart trembled slightly.

His little girl had rushed back for the New Year, warming his heart, and he suddenly realized he liked her more every day.

"Quite good. I went to my parents’ ancestral home, helped them build a memorial tomb, and before returning, I went to pay my respects." In the past three months, Chloe Winston had returned to her previously cheerful self. "Then I traveled south, where it’s not cold at all, and everywhere was in bloom. I went diving, cared for sea turtles, and even saw coral reefs. I took lots of photos. But I posted them on social media, so you must have seen them."

After she finished speaking, she smiled shyly, feeling somewhat unaccustomed to the current Constantine Stewart, as if he had become a different person.

Her former foster husband, once proud, inscrutable, temperamental, seemed to transform overnight into a steady, courteous man, with the only downside perhaps being that he talked a lot more.

At least he wanted to talk to her for an hour or two every day.

"I saw them. It seems your life has been quite fulfilling, better than mine in the Imperial City." Constantine Stewart said with a slight smile.

"The Imperial City is nice too." Chloe Winston looked up at him, and both laughed as they looked into each other’s eyes, the past grievances seeming to dissolve in that shared smile.

Having loved, hated, and regretted, finally, standing in the heavy snow on the deserted street on Chinese New Year’s Eve, exchanging gentle smiles was indeed an inexplicable fate.

"Let’s go home. It’s cold outside. I have a New Year gift for you at home." Constantine Stewart noted the snowflakes resting on her long lashes, which made the girl appear even fairer. He wanted to brush away the snowflake but restrained himself, merely brushing the snow off her shoulders.

"Okay, it’s been quite an exciting evening. Let’s go back." Chloe Winston smiled slightly, seeing that even though she hadn’t mentioned she would return, Constantine Stewart had prepared a gift for her.

In the early years after being adopted, regardless of her behavior, Constantine Stewart would prepare a New Year gift for her every Chinese New Year’s Eve, as if it were a kind of ritual.

"Why do you prepare a New Year gift every year?" Chloe Winston asked.
