the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart
Chapter 1465 - 1455: A Man’s Jealousy Grows Stronger
Chloe Winston’s facial features are well-proportioned; with just a simple light makeup, she looked stunning. Constantine Stewart noticed her dress was not revealing; it was a cute and fresh floral skirt that showed off her long, fair legs. He nodded approvingly, thinking she had a good taste in selecting her dress.
Constantine Stewart, in principle, is not a conservative person. Compared to Richard Shaw, he could be considered quite open-minded, but perhaps after spending too long in Imperial City, he’d been influenced by these conservative people, and recently felt he was getting stingy.
"It’s not good for the two of us to attend the wedding together; when we’re close, drop me off, and I’ll walk there myself." Chloe saw the man scrutinizing her once he got in the car. Uncertain if her outfit was inappropriate, she discreetly checked several times before confirming there was no issue and finally spoke.
Constantine responded lazily, naturally not bothering her over such small matters.
"Your necklace doesn’t match your dress," the man suddenly spoke, his voice calm, "Though Richard’s wedding is not public, there will definitely be media reporters from various families outside. These people will photograph the guests attending the wedding, and your outfit will expose your taste."
The man blatantly lied while staring at the beautiful necklace on her collarbone, finding it somewhat obtrusive.
Chloe felt a bit pale; today’s attendees at Vice Admiral Shaw’s wedding were the elite of the elite from Imperial City. If her outfit wasn’t suitable, wouldn’t that be quite disrespectful?
"Why don’t I take it off? After all, this dress isn’t off-the-shoulder; without a necklace, it won’t feel bare." As Chloe spoke, she took off the necklace, looking at it somewhat reluctantly, thinking it really was quite beautiful.
Constantine’s gaze darkened slightly, his lips curled up as he said nonchalantly, "Not wearing jewelry would be more disrespectful; a woman should not be without jewelry. I’ll lend you a set, and I want to eat your cooking tonight when we return."
Chloe: ???
The man retrieved a jewelry box from the car, opened it, handed it to her, and raised an eyebrow, asking, "Hmm?"
Chloe looked at the pair of earrings in the jewelry box, instantly breathless; they were so beautiful, the sophisticated pearls perfectly paired with dazzling red diamonds, appearing somewhat luxurious, but such important occasions indeed called for such jewelry.
"I’ll help you put them on." At some point, the man had gotten close to her, his long, warm fingers touching her small earlobes as he selected one of the earrings and helped her put it on.
Constantine was so close that Chloe could feel his breath; her earlobe tingled with a slight itch when touched by him.
"Is it on?" Chloe dared not move, feeling the air inside the car was stifling, and began to struggle to breathe.
"Yeah, the earholes were somewhat blocked." The man’s long fingers touched her cute little earlobes, knowing they were her sensitive spots. He most liked to nibble on her little ears, and after what felt like an eternity, he finally finished putting on one earring. Looking at her fair little face, he brushed her hair behind her ear, observed the dangling red diamond earring, which accentuated her beauty, and then retracted his hand satisfied.
"Have you not worn earrings in a long time?" The man spoke as he took out the other one.
Chloe nodded; she naturally didn’t have pierced ears. Constantine had once bought a pair of earrings and found out she didn’t have pierced ears, which led him to take her to get them pierced, but she struggled with wearing them as they felt heavy; she typically didn’t wear accessories on her hands or neck, keeping it simple.
"It will be a bit heavy; just use a hot towel to soothe it tonight." The man lowered his gaze, inhaling her subtle fragrance, feeling tense and somewhat self-inflicted.
The second earring was put on quickly; Constantine withdrew without a trace, glanced out the window, and said casually, "No manicure either; you’re quite the tomboy."
Chloe bit her lip in annoyance; as if she was the bride, why should she look so good? Besides, she wasn’t one of those privileged beauties; how could she film with a manicure?
The upcoming film was a 90s-themed youth movie, with a nostalgic and retro style; forget manicure, even beautiful clothes weren’t allowed.
Due to this little incident, Chloe quietly moved a bit further from Constantine and, when the car reached the entrance of the wedding estate, quickly asked driver Zheng Gu to stop. She then got off the car, holding her clutch while stepping in high heels.
"Mr. Stewart, are you really letting Mrs. Stewart walk?" Zheng Gu felt a bit awkward, not continuing to drive. Privately, he referred to Chloe as Mrs. Stewart, hoping this appellation might brighten Mr. Stewart’s day.
Constantine watched as the young lady carefully held her clutch, pressing down her fluttering dress, displaying a fresh and elegant demeanor, saying lazily, "There are reporters ahead; you should follow her. No men are allowed to approach."
He was a man too. Zheng Gu’s heart fluttered with anxiety; hesitantly, he got out of the car, cautiously keeping three steps away from Mrs. Stewart to protect her.
Mr. Stewart’s jealousy was growing stronger, and this alarmed Zheng Gu.
Constantine checked the time; Richard Shaw’s side was already immersed in busy activities. The Shaw family had arrived long ago, and the old lady repeatedly asked him about his arrival. He maintained they’d be there shortly, and at this moment, they couldn’t delay any longer, driving straight into the wedding estate.
Richard Shaw and Leah Squire’s wedding was held at a suburban estate, relatively low-key, but the attendees were anything but subdued. As Constantine got out of the car, he saw a procession of military-uniformed individuals assisting, some attending to reception duties and others handling errands. They were all dressed in brand-new, sharply fitted uniforms, and their military ranks were intimidatingly high; perhaps there was nothing left for him to do?
Constantine curled his lips in a meaningful, slight smile. Just like this, why limit it to eight tables of banquet seats? Half the Military District seemed to have found a way to squeeze in here, right?
Richard Shaw was talking with Ignatius Leclair; today, Ignatius was also dressed in a military uniform rather than a suit, his handsome and stern face rarely showing a smile, with a hint of visible nervousness.
Ignatius Leclair’s two little kids, one cute as a doll and the other graceful as a little gentleman, stood obediently holding little flower baskets, hiding behind Ignatius to avoid the flood of uncles and aunts who kept pinching cheeks and tapping their little heads.
"Benjamin, go see what your mommy is doing." Ignatius saw his pair of kids become the most beloved presence of the day; feeling a bit proud, his lips curled up. His youngest son was too little to bring along, or else everyone would be so envious they might hang themselves when they returned.
"Daddy, Benjamin has run there thrice today; Mommy is still with the pretty aunt." Benjamin sweetly and warmly said, unable to resist pouting. Daddy just wanted her to run around so everyone would know the Leclair Family has two adorable babies. Who knew Daddy’s vanity would be this heavy, huh!
