Chapter 1161: Chapter 1188: Nothing to Do With Me (1)

4:30 PM, Ward Family residence.

Caiden Ward parked the car, opened the back door, and carried Maeve out.

Immediately after—

He personally made a shopping list, instructed the housekeeper to go to the supermarket to buy fruits and snacks Maeve liked, told the chef to start preparing Maeve’s favorite dinner, carried her upstairs to the bedroom, and called the family doctor to come over immediately.

In short, everything was prioritized for Maeve.

It was still early.

He coaxed Maeve to lie down and rest, then took some clothes and went to the bathroom to shower himself.

During this process, he had basically forgotten about Rosy Harris.

Rosy sat awkwardly in the living room on the first floor. Although she and Caiden Ward had been dating for two months, every meeting was pretty much just a meal. Today was actually her first visit to Caiden Ward’s outside residence.

Of course—

She had been to the Ward Family mansion with Caiden Ward once.

The other members of the Ward Family were quite satisfied with her and basically acknowledged her relationship with Caiden Ward.

Otherwise—

Caiden Ward wouldn’t be preparing an engagement ring.

Thinking about this, Rosy felt even worse.

Originally, she was supposed to go with Caiden Ward this afternoon to look at engagement rings. But now, Maeve suddenly appeared, turning things into a mess. Never mind the engagement ring; Caiden Ward probably had even forgotten about her.

Rosy picked up the hot tea on the table and took a sip, feeling annoyed.

Should she inform Madam Ward?

She hesitated for a while, then temporarily dismissed the idea, deciding to observe for a while longer.

No mother-in-law likes a daughter-in-law who complains too much. She needed to figure out how to hold onto Caiden Ward herself, after all, there are no secrets that walls can’t leak — if word got back to Caiden Ward about her complaints, it would backfire.

Thinking it over, Rosy’s heart gradually calmed down.

But—

She never imagined that from this moment on, things would spiral completely out of her control.

Maeve stayed with the Ward Family temporarily, supposedly because her fever kept coming back. Caiden Ward was very concerned, staying home with her most of the time. When he had to go to the company, he would take her along and let her rest in the CEO’s office.

She mentioned the ring once; Caiden Ward said he didn’t have time, they’d talk when he was free.

The plan to publicize their relationship was also put on hold due to Maeve’s sudden interference. In outsiders’ eyes, she was no different from Caiden Ward’s previous girlfriends; even visiting him at work required his consent before the receptionist felt comfortable letting her up.

It was extremely frustrating.

But these weren’t even the worst parts.

The worst part was that Madam Ward found out Maeve had come back to be by his side. Madam Ward, naturally unhappy, scolded Caiden Ward harshly, yet couldn’t make him send Maeve away.

Madam Ward inexplicably shifted the blame onto her.

Her words implied that since Rosy knew about it first, she should have informed her.

Rosy felt wronged.

When she came to Cloud Capital, Maeve had already left Caiden Ward’s side.

She knew that Caiden Ward had pampered Maeve before, but not seeing it with her own eyes, she didn’t quite take it seriously.

Now that she had seen it, she didn’t know what to do.

She felt very aggrieved.

Moreover, there was an unspeakable depression and frustration, with no outlet to vent. On the weekend, she went with a few work friends to a popular bar in Cloud Capital to release emotions and kill time.
