Chapter 1135: Chapter 1162: A Life-or-Death Decision (3)

The ringtone startled him.

He fumbled in his pocket and found his phone.

Mom?

Camden River steadied himself, glanced at Windsor Myres, and while pulling on his clothes, said evenly, "Mom."

"Where are you now?" Chloe Smith’s voice was very soft.

"At home."

"Then why has no one opened the door no matter how long we knock? Your dad and I are right outside, come out and open the door."

"..."

Camden River was completely dumbfounded.

Instinctively, he turned his head to look at the bed.

Windsor Myres was lying under the quilt with a bare, fragrant shoulder showing; he hadn’t even properly put on his clothes yet, how was he supposed to open the door?

But—

He had already said he was at home.

"My parents are here." Camden River put down the phone and said, quickly finished getting dressed, yanked a long dress from the wardrobe for Windsor Myres, bent over to straighten the bed, and as he pulled up the quilt, said, "In a bit, no matter what they say, you keep quiet, got it?"

Windsor Myres put on the dress and got out of bed, agreeing with a sulky face.

Camden River took a deep breath and went out to open the door.

As soon as the door opened, he was met with Chloe Smith and Troy River’s livid faces. He hurriedly called, "Dad, Mom, I was exhausted when I got back and fell asleep, didn’t hear it."

As the words left his mouth, his own expression changed.

Troy River said nothing, shot him a stern look, then turned sideways and walked in, the air pressure around him freezing.

"You, you."

Chloe Smith scolded him under her breath, then quickly followed them in.

She only felt a headache coming on.

Troy River was a man who cared a lot about face. Last time Cherry Lewis had humiliated him like that, she’d had to talk him round for ages before he finally calmed down.

This time there was an antiques exhibition in Cloud Capital, and the organizers had invited Troy River. He hadn’t really wanted to come. It was she who had coaxed him a bit, and with Tong Tong’s father chiming in, showing great interest, he had only reluctantly nodded and agreed to come.

On the surface it was to see the exhibition, but wasn’t it actually because of Camden River?

They were never very satisfied with this girlfriend to begin with, and with a mother like that, she was definitely no good. Lately she’d been thinking that Rosy Harris was a decent girl, but who knew, Rosy’s mother had already said that after she came to Cloud Capital, a boss of a big corporation took a fancy to her. The other party had a huge family business and was young and promising. Their girl was already seeing him, and they’d be getting engaged in a while.

Well, everything went up in smoke.

As a mother, of course she felt sorry for her own son, and just wanted to come to Cloud Capital and pay more attention to his love life.

Who could have thought—

At the exhibition, Troy River ran into a few old friends from his circle.

Among them was one who happened to be Camden River’s university professor. Not only his professor, but someone who had long been in a circle like Cloud Capital, and knew quite a lot about the Myres Family, and about Windsor Myres.

It was an absolute disaster!

Chloe Smith simply didn’t want to recall what Troy River’s face had looked like all afternoon.

Never mind him, even as his mother, she felt her dignity had been trampled, utterly ashamed.

The son they had always treated as their pride since he was little, how did he end up falling for a girl like that?

It was a complete disgrace to the River Family!

As Chloe Smith was stewing in her anger, Troy River, walking in front of her, suddenly stopped. She was taken aback and just about to speak when her gaze fell on a certain spot; her whole body instead jerked back a step in fright.

Windsor Myres was wearing a long dress, her long hair loose over her shoulders, standing at the bedroom door. She bit her lip and said, "Hello, Uncle, Auntie."
