Chapter 1122: Chapter 1149: Cat and Mouse (3)
Unexpectedly, we ran into some familiar faces after just a few steps.
Daniel Davis was helping Tong Tong choose study guides for the national exams. He looked up and saw the two of them, smiling, "What a coincidence, are you here to buy books too?"
"Yeah."
As soon as Koa Jackson uttered the word, Daniel Davis and Tong Tong noticed the books in his hands.
The one on top was "One Hundred Pregnancy Taboos."
Uh.
The two of them were taken aback, pleasantly surprised. Daniel Davis hesitated and asked, "Good news already?"
Pregnancy isn’t something to be embarrassed about.
Koa Jackson smiled calmly and nodded, "Not long now."
"Congratulations, congratulations!" Daniel Davis’s smile widened, and then he teasingly asked, "So there must be a happy event coming up, when can we celebrate with wedding drinks?"
Though he said it casually, his tone carried a hint of inquisitive concern.
Koa Jackson politely replied, "The wedding should be at the end of November, the exact date hasn’t been set yet, but we’ll let you know once it’s decided."
"We’d be honored," Daniel Davis laughed cheerfully, "We’ll be waiting then."
"Thank you."
Koa Jackson maintained a polite and courteous smile, exchanged a few pleasantries, and then took Mia Ginger away.
Tong Tong had also picked out her study guides.
Daniel Davis paid at the cashier and walked out with her.
Once they got in the car, he sighed nonchalantly, "Another double happiness event."
He was a year or two younger than Koa Jackson, but around the same age as Denver Petal. At this point, almost everyone around had gotten married, and many even had children.
He and Tong Tong had been together for just over a month, but they’d known each other for over two years.
He had always believed she was his destined wife, his relationship had been aimed towards marriage from the start.
Now—
Daniel Davis glanced at Tong Tong.
Tong Tong had been looking at him, but hurriedly looked down when she noticed his gaze, not saying a word.
Daniel Davis didn’t say much more and drove to a nearby western restaurant.
He rented an entire floor, dined with Tong Tong, treating her with utmost kindness and care. At 7 PM, they left the restaurant, and he drove Tong Tong to Cloud Capital University.
It was still early, the night was just settling in.
Daniel Davis parked the car along the tree-lined road, got out, and walked with Tong Tong for a bit, kissing under the sycamore trees.
Tong Tong was shy and didn’t let him kiss her for long, even at night. They soon parted, but Daniel Davis, feeling unsatisfied, gently held her arm as she was about to turn away, and softly said, "Why not stay the night, hmm?"
"Brother Davis." Tong Tong was taken aback, her face turning red.
Daniel Davis touched her face, his tone even softer, coaxing, "We won’t do anything, trust me, okay? I just want to spend a little more time with you. You don’t know, I..."
He couldn’t continue; he’d been holding back quite a bit in certain ways.
Tong Tong was very conservative, the most traditional woman he knew.
The most open-minded woman he knew could suggest going to a hotel over a cup of coffee, while a slightly more reserved one could become quite intimate in a little over a month, even if not going all the way, touching was no issue.
Not Tong Tong; after over a month, she’d only let him hold hands, caress her face, or give her a peck on the lips.
If he went further, she would instinctively pull away.
The game of cat and mouse was originally supposed to be fun, mostly for the cat’s perspective. In his relationship with Tong Tong, he’d always thought he was the cat, but over time, he realized he was actually the mouse.
