Chapter 1113: Chapter 1140: Hire a Nutritionist (2)

"Do you really need to be so clear-cut with me?" Windsor Myres asked him with a look of confusion, her expression also showing some displeasure.

Did Camden River mean that she would spend her own money and he wouldn’t care?

She had given up such a privileged lifestyle at home to willingly live with him in a three-bedroom apartment, yet he was so cold and indifferent, with no intention, verbally or implicitly, of spending a penny on her?

Camden River understood she might have misunderstood again, and said solemnly, "It’s not that I want to keep things separate with you, nor do I mean for us to live financially equal lives. But I don’t want my future wife to be like a parasitic leech or a spineless shrimp, having no skills other than relying on others."

A parasitic leech? A spineless shrimp? Having no skills?

As these words spilled out of Camden River’s mouth one after another, Windsor Myres’s expression grew increasingly dark, her brows furrowed as she said, "Are all these words directed at me?"

"I hope you can be independent," Camden said quietly.

"Working is independence?" Windsor Myres smirked, her expression inscrutable.

"Earning and spending your own money is barely the first step to independence."

Windsor Myres fiddled with her watch without speaking.

"You think a monthly intern salary of four or five thousand is too little, but do you know how many people work internships without any pay at all, just like I did? Why work without pay? To learn and progress, to ensure smoother and more stable steps tomorrow, Windsor Myres, aiming too high is not advisable."

"But four or five thousand is really too little."

"Your capability is generally proportional to your salary. The money from your mom isn’t really a salary, it’s just like a living allowance she gives you. You think four or five thousand is little, but shouldn’t you first ask yourself, what can you do? What can you contribute? How much can your work benefit a company or an enterprise? Your worth dictates how much others will reward you with..."

"Enough!" Windsor Myres interrupted him directly, "Can you not lecture me with these big principles?"

Camden River: "..."

The two fell into a long silence and stalemate.

Time ticked by, and soon the sky darkened as it approached eight o’clock.

Camden River sighed and said, "Come on, let’s go downstairs for dinner."

Windsor Myres was also hungry, so she got up and followed him. In the elevator, she looked at Camden’s stern profile, pursed her lips, thought for a moment, and relented first, "Alright, don’t be angry. Can’t I just stop spending like this? I’ll definitely find a job tomorrow, earning whatever money is fine."

Camden River glanced at her.

Windsor Myres smiled, "Is that okay?"

"Do you mean it?" Camden River’s expression softened a bit, looking at her he said, "We’re both adults, at the very least we need to be responsible for our lives, right? You can’t keep going like you used to."

"Got it, got it." Windsor Myres took his arm and shook it, "I already said I’d change."

"Okay." Camden River nodded, suddenly remembering something, and changed the topic, "Let’s eat first, then I’ll have to pack after dinner. I need to prepare for a business trip tomorrow."

"A business trip?" Windsor Myres was taken aback.

Camden River explained, "I was officially confirmed last week, and now I’m with the ’News Investigation’ production team. The topic decided this time requires going to the northwest, and it seems like it will take quite a while, at least ten days to half a month."

"That long?" Windsor Myres’s eyebrows furrowed tightly.

Camden River hesitated and asked her, "Will you be afraid to be home alone?"

"Afraid, not really." Windsor thought for a moment, pursed her lips, and said, "But being alone would be really boring. How about I go with you?"
