The Triplets My Ex Never Knew About

Chapter 193: Going to See Mr. Lynch, But Why Is Nathaniel Sloan the One Opening the Door?

Chapter 193: Chapter 193: Going to See Mr. Lynch, But Why Is Nathaniel Sloan the One Opening the Door?

Celestine Pavilion fell silent.

Enzo Kendrick: "..."

He couldn’t help but recall what Nathaniel Sloan had said on the phone yesterday: ’My ruthlessness must be inherited from Laura Jennings. It’s in my genes. Can’t be helped.’

Enzo Kendrick glanced at Estelle Lockwood, then thought of Nathaniel Sloan, and nodded firmly.

’They really are a perfect match!’

Rose Lowell nearly choked. In her mind, who the hell did Estelle Lockwood think she was to dare mock her? This was utter insolence!

She shrieked and lunged forward, ready to strike, her face flushed and her eyes wide with rage. "I am your mother! Let us in, now!"

Unable to come up with any other reason, she could only repeat those four words over and over: "I am your mother!"

Estelle Lockwood raised an eyebrow. She had always suspected she wasn’t Austin Lockwood and Rose Lowell’s daughter, but seeing Rose’s genuinely emotional display... ’Is Rose’s acting really that good?’

It was almost dinnertime, and the entrance to Celestine Pavilion was growing lively. A lady glanced at Rose Lowell several times before whispering to her daughter, "That must be Mrs. Lockwood."

The young lady’s expression immediately turned to one of contempt. "Hah, Mrs. Lockwood? You mean the one who lost her biological daughter, beat and cursed her after finding her, and even let her adopted daughter commit arson?"

With that, everyone immediately knew who they were talking about.

Noelle Lockwood had been quite famous in their social circles, always touting herself as the number one socialite. When she got into trouble, everyone certainly remembered, and they also remembered Austin Lockwood and Rose Lowell, that pair of biased parents.

After she finished, the young lady sneered. "And she has the nerve to say she worked so hard to raise her biological daughter. She only stayed with the Lockwood Family for two years, and during those two years, you bullied her to the brink of death. How shameless!"

The people around them also frowned, filled with righteous indignation. "Mrs. Lockwood, Celestine Pavilion requires reservations. Miss Lockwood has no obligation to dine with you. After everything your Lockwood Family has done, how dare you try to guilt-trip her?"

The relatives from the Lowell Family were instantly displeased. They started clamoring, wanting to curse back, but were cut off by the taunts of the surrounding crowd.

"She’s already cursing at Estelle Lockwood out here in public. Who knows what it’s like at home!"

"I heard that this time, to keep up appearances, Austin Lockwood brought Estelle Lockwood back to the family home, but Rose Lowell and Noelle Lockwood made her live in the servants’ quarters!"

"What? For real? And that’s her biological mother?"

"Yes! Everyone in our circle is talking about it. They say Rose Lowell isn’t Estelle Lockwood’s real mother at all. She’s so desperate to claim Estelle is her daughter, she’s probably just trying to get her hands on some benefit!"

"If she wants some benefit, she should treat her well. What on earth is Rose Lowell doing..."

The surrounding crowd’s speculations flooded into Rose Lowell’s ears.

Estelle Lockwood narrowed her eyes, intrigued. ’I wonder how Ms. Lowell will respond?’

Who would have thought that upon hearing others speculate she wasn’t Estelle Lockwood’s real mother, Rose Lowell showed not a hint of guilt and instead burst into a tirade:

"Estelle Lockwood, are you dead?! You see your mother getting insulted and you don’t say a word! The master was right, you really are a jinx! It was right to kick you out back then, you damn jinx!! You menace!"

Enzo Kendrick glanced at Rose Lowell’s face, then frowned and warned, "Disaster stems from the mouth, Ms. Lowell. If you continue to insult Estelle, you’ll soon face a bloody calamity."

Rose Lowell grew even more agitated, planting her hands on her hips and roaring, "I’ll curse her if I want! So what? The master I hired said Estelle Lockwood has a wretched fate and needs to be cursed often just to survive! And who the hell do you think you are, to... Ah!"

In her fury, she didn’t watch her step, tripped on the stairs, and pitched forward. The crowd heard a loud THUD. When they looked again, Rose Lowell’s forehead was bleeding, and she had knocked out two teeth. Her face was twisted in pain.

Enzo Kendrick was perfectly calm. "Well, there’s your retribution. Estelle, let’s go."

Estelle Lockwood blinked. ’I haven’t even done anything yet. How did Rose Lowell end up in this half-dead state all on her own?’

Estelle Lockwood thought for a moment, looking down at Rose Lowell and sizing her up before suddenly speaking.

"Ms. Lowell, although we’re supposedly mother and daughter, there are some areas where we’re not alike. For example, our brains."

She let out a light breath. "If I were you, with the Lockwood Family’s reputation in ruins and its influence waning, I would be hiding and keeping a low profile. Ms. Lowell, how could someone as foolish as you have given birth to me?"

After saying her piece, she walked away gracefully, not caring what expression Rose Lowell wore.

As they walked, Enzo Kendrick said, "From what Rose Lowell was saying, it sounds like she hired some ’master’ to tell your fortune? What a hack. An ignorant charlatan out to harm people!"

Estelle Lockwood shook her head. "I don’t know, but from the way Rose Lowell is acting, she seems utterly convinced that she is my biological mother."

Enzo Kendrick also found it strange, but he couldn’t figure it out at the moment.

So, he decided to change the subject. "Estelle, so what do you think? It was the right move to listen to me and come back, wasn’t it? Everything has been resolved perfectly now."

Before returning to the country, Estelle Lockwood had sought out Enzo Kendrick, who had specially flown to the USA to give her a divination reading.

Enzo Kendrick muttered, "Someone like me is a real master. What kind of hack did Rose Lowell find..."

Before he could finish, a waiter hurried past them. "Hurry up, don’t delay. Mr. Lynch is a distinguished guest."

"Hasn’t this Mr. Lynch always been very low-key? Why the sudden high profile, acquiring Celestine Pavilion and holding an auction?"

The manager of Celestine Pavilion rushed out. "Enough chatter. What Mr. Lynch does is none of your business. Get a move on, and be quick about it!"

Estelle Lockwood froze. ’Mr. Lynch is here, too?’

In her memory, Mr. Lynch was indeed low-key. For him to act so out of character now... ’Did something happen?’

’Since Mr. Lynch is also here, should I take this opportunity to meet him and thank him in person for his help over the past five years?’

Enzo Kendrick noticed Estelle Lockwood was distracted. "What’s wrong?"

Estelle Lockwood told him about Mr. Lynch, and Enzo Kendrick looked completely bewildered. "If you want to see him, then go see him. It’s not a big deal."

’She’s just going to see her own husband, why is she so conflicted?’

He had done a divination reading before coming, and the hexagrams clearly indicated that the misunderstanding between Estelle and her husband would be resolved. Why was she hesitating now just to meet him? ’Could there be something I failed to predict?’

’That won’t do. I need to get a look at Nathaniel Sloan’s face.’

So Enzo Kendrick said with a serious expression, "I’ll go with you."

Estelle Lockwood asked the manager for Mr. Lynch’s private room. The manager gave her a curious look, then said respectfully, "It’s at the end of this hallway. My, why are you being so formal? You can go whenever you please."

Estelle Lockwood: "..."

Estelle Lockwood felt that something wasn’t quite right.

’Is my relationship with Mr. Lynch so good that the whole world knows about it?’

Reaching the end of the hallway, Estelle Lockwood looked at the room number, composed herself, took a deep breath, and prepared to push the door open.

She had been in contact with Mr. Lynch for five years. They were pen pals, good friends, comrades who had overcome hardships together. Meeting him should be a happy occasion, but for some reason, she had a strange, subtle feeling in her heart.

’...Oh well, I’m probably just overthinking it.’

Estelle Lockwood knocked on the door and heard a voice from inside say, "Come in."
