The Trash Guide Awakens: The Youngest General's Hidden Wife
Chapter 36: Project Genesis
The words PROJECT GENESIS remained burned into Rhaevia’s mind long after the terminal had gone completely dark. The glowing white letters seemed to linger on the black glass interface, heavy with an ominous, unknown threat.
Raevor stood silently before the dead terminal, his tall frame illuminated only by the faint red glow of the emergency system indicators.
His physical posture remained perfectly rigid and imposing, but the subtle shift in his aura betrayed his calm exterior. His handsome face was an unreadable mask, yet his dark eyes flickered with a rare, sharp intensity.
For the first time since Rhaevia had met the legendary 3S Sentinel, she could see something unusual beneath his iron composure. It was not fear, nor was it hesitation. It was caution, a deep, calculated vigilance born from decades of surviving high-level military intrigue.
"This isn’t an ordinary military project," Raevor said, his deep voice smooth yet heavy with unspoken gravity.
Rhaevia crossed her arms over her chest, stepping beside him to examine the darkened screen.
"You recognized the classification format?" she asked, her voice dropping into a quiet, analytical register.
"No," Raevor answered immediately, his dark gaze fixed on the empty display. "That’s precisely the core problem."
He turned toward the main command interface, his long fingers executing a series of complex diagnostic commands across the secondary Holo-Table. The holographic interface hummed to life under his touch, casting pale blue light across his strict profile.
"If Project Genesis were a standard military operation, even a highly classified Level Black baseline, my command clearance would be enough to access at least its foundational administration records," he explained calmly.
His fingers moved with practiced speed across the console, deploying advanced decryption algorithms into the local server nodes. "Let’s see how high this authority chain actually goes."
A three-dimensional archive interface materialized directly above the main terminal, flickering with thousands of encrypted Imperial database paths. Raevor entered PROJECT GENESIS into the central Imperial Military database.
The system processed the query for several micro-seconds before flashing a muted gray prompt. Nothing. No records, no archived files, and no cross-referenced logs appeared on the primary screen.
Without pausing, Raevor altered the core search parameters, routing the query through alternate archival sub-grids. He entered HISTORICAL PROJECTS.
Nothing.
He forced the system deeper into restricted military networks, searching under BLACK-LEVEL MILITARY OPERATIONS.
Nothing...
He adjusted the network protocol once more, targeting IMPERIAL STRATEGIC RESEARCH.
Still nothing. The imperial military database remained completely blank, as if the phrase had never existed in human history.
Rhaevia’s brows furrowed as she watched the search filters return continuous empty results.
"Someone completely erased it from the official archives?" she surmised, her dark eyes narrowing into sharp slits.
"Possibly," Raevor replied, his tone growing colder as his fingers moved faster across the glowing keys. "Or it was never entered into the public or standard military networks to begin with."
He connected his terminal directly to the central military archive through his flagship’s highest command channel, utilizing his personal biometric key. A harsh, crimson warning prompt immediately materialized over the Holo-Table, illuminating the sanitized chamber in blood-red light.
[SEARCHING RESTRICTED ARCHIVAL NETWORK...]
[COMMANDER IDENTIFICATION: RAEVOR VEYR]
[AUTHORITY: MAJOR GENERAL]
[CLEARANCE VERIFICATION: ACCEPTED.]
The high-tech system processed his high-level authorization with a series of quiet chimes, clearing through multiple automated firewalls.
Then, a sudden electronic buzz echoed through the chamber speakers.
[PROJECT GENESIS]
[ACCESS: DENIED.]
Raevor’s eyes narrowed. He immediately executed a secondary manual authorization code, routing his personal command override into the central core.
[ACCESS: DENIED.]
He didn’t hesitate. He inputted his flagship’s direct tactical override key, attempting to force the archive open through sheer administrative weight.
[ACCESS: DENIED.]
His unshakeable expression finally changed, a rare flicker of genuine disbelief passing through his dark pupils.
"This is impossible," he murmured, his voice tight.
Rhaevia turned her head slightly to look at his frozen profile.
"Your security clearance isn’t high enough to bypass the restriction?" she asked.
"Not merely that," Raevor stared directly at the flashing red denial prompt, his posture rigid. "Project Genesis is classified far above my standard military clearance."
A heavy, suffocating silence descended over the private medical bay.
Rhaevia’s gaze grew exceptionally serious as she processed the terrifying weight of his words. Raevor Veyr was thirty-five years old, officially the youngest Major General in the long history of the Empire, and a legendary 3S Sentinel whose name commanded respect across star systems.
He commanded an elite military fleet, governed thousands of battle-hardened soldiers, and possessed access to high-level strategic military intelligence that lower-ranking officers would never see in their lifetimes.
Yet, Project Genesis stood completely out of his reach, buried beneath authority higher than a Major General’s command.
"How many people in this galaxy can actually access something classified at this level?" Rhaevia asked, her clear voice breaking the quiet.
Raevor didn’t answer her immediately. His eyes remained fixed on the red warning text hovering in the air between them, analyzing every potential political variable.
"Very few," he finally spoke, his deep voice echoing quietly against the metallic walls. "The highest imperial authorities belonging to the Moongrey bloodline."
His handsome face darkened, his expression turning thoroughly cold. "Certain senior members of the Imperial High Command’s internal council."
He paused briefly, his jaw tightening. "And potentially the highest executive authorities of the Imperial Church."
Rhaevia’s dark eyes sharpened like honed blades. "So Project Genesis is controlled directly by either the throne, the military’s highest command structure..."
"Or the Church," Raevor completed the thought flatly, closing the glowing archive interface with a swift swipe of his hand. "Possibly all three working in unison."
The staggering political implications were enormous.
If Project Genesis had actively existed for years, then someone possessing unimaginable authority within the interstellar hierarchy had been watching Rhaevia since her early childhood.
Someone had deliberately ordered her natural mental energy suppressed using chemical agents. They had systematically falsified her official registry to classify her as an E-rank failure.
They continuously monitored her physical coordinates for years. And someone had eventually authorized her to be covertly transported and abandoned on Planet V-17.
Raevor’s expression hardened into pure, unyielding steel as he looked back down at her.
"They knew exactly what you were from the beginning," he stated, his voice laced with suppressed fury.
Rhaevia remained silent, her mind was spinning.
A faint, suffocating pressure suddenly began to spread quietly through the sanitized air of the room. Raevor’s 3S Sentinel instincts reacted first, his battle-trained reflexes flaring before the flagship’s internal sensors could sound an alarm.
His head snapped toward the communications terminal on the far wall.
"Someone is forcibly accessing our private command network," Raevor warned, stepping swiftly toward the console.
An incoming transmission had completely bypassed the flagship’s multi-layered security firewalls, routing directly into their private room. Raevor immediately slammed his hand onto the interface, activating the room’s localized security barrier.
The primary holographic display flickered erratically, casting jagged lines of static across the floor. No military identification seal appeared. No noble crest materialized, and no transmission origin coordinates were displayed.
Only a single, stark line of glowing white text hovered in the center of the dark glass.
[STOP INVESTIGATING THE GIRL.]
Raevor stared silently at the message, his posture rigid and unmoving. Rhaevia stepped directly beside him, her calm face unbothered as she read the warning.
The ominous words remained motionless on the screen for several long, quiet seconds. Then, with a soft static pop, the text shifted, and another line materialized beneath it.
[THIS IS YOUR ONLY WARNING, MAJOR GENERAL VEYR.]
With a final electronic hum, the communications terminal went completely black, plunging the room back into deep shadow.
The medical bay fell into total, suffocating silence once more.
Rhaevia slowly turned her head to look up at Raevor. His handsome face remained completely calm, his breathing slow and perfectly measured.
Then, the corner of his lips slowly lifted. A cold, dangerous smile appeared on his face, a look belonging to a seasoned general who had just been handed a declaration of war. He looked directly at the dead, black terminal, his dark eyes glittering with absolute defiance.
"No," Raevor spoke softly, his deep voice carrying a lethal promise.
Rhaevia’s dark pupils narrowed into sharp, satisfied slits.
Raevor’s dangerous smile deepened, his Sentinel aura humming with quiet power beside her.
"No," he repeated firmly, turning back to face her. "Let’s dig deeper."
