The Tower's Last Chronicle
The Battlefield That Refused to Lose
Enemy after enemy rushed at him. A crystal wolf, a giant with twin axes, and a snake with mirrored scales. They all had different looks and different deadly skills to use against him.
Yet they all shared one fatal flaw. They were completely predictable. Seo-Jun cut them down one by one. Not because they were weak, but because they still fought using blind, wild instinct.
Minutes passed by, and then hours. The battlefield turned into an endless, bloody cycle. Monsters appeared from the dirt. He watched them, learned their tricks, and then he killed them easily.
Eventually, Seo-Jun stopped ending his fights so quickly. He forced his own body to slow down. He let sharp claws graze past his skin and allowed the endless horde of beasts to surround him completely.
He purposely fought from a losing spot. Every mistake he made became another harsh lesson. Every painful wound gave him another answer. The room wasn't the only one gathering data today.
He was studying the machine just as much as it was studying him. "...Again." A six-armed beast jumped at him. Its heavy fists swung from six different blind spots at the exact same time.
Instead of running away, Seo-Jun stepped right into the center of the storm. The wooden sword danced in his hand. One, two, three times. The beast grew angry and swung even faster. Four, five, six.
A sudden silence fell over them. The monster just stood there frozen before six thin lines appeared across its chest. One by one, all six arms slid off its body, and the beast collapsed into dust.
Seo-Jun lowered his wooden sword and sighed.
"...Too slow." His timing had been off by less than a heartbeat. To anyone else, the fight looked perfect. To him, it was still a glaring mistake.
True perfection wasn't just about winning a fight. It was measured by how much useless effort he could cut away. The ground suddenly shook, and a cold, hollow voice echoed across the wasteland.

Seo-Jun slowly lifted his head. For the first time since he started, the monsters did not rush blindly at him.
They just watched him closely, spreading out and keeping a safe distance. They were waiting and observing him carefully. It was as though the mindless beasts had finally learned to feel caution.
Seo-Jun's grip tightened around the rough wooden hilt. A quiet, genuine smile appeared on his face.
"...Now we are getting somewhere." The battlefield exploded into action once more.
The monsters moved together as one perfect unit. There were no reckless charges or angry roars. The room had learned his habits. The giants marched in a line, forcing him toward the center.
The dragons circled high above, waiting patiently for a single opening. Smaller beasts hid in the ruined forests and broken rocks. It was no longer just a wild horde of beasts. It was a true army.
✦ ✦ ✦
Seo-Jun slowly let out a breath. "...Much better." This was exactly what he had been waiting for. He wanted foes who could learn and refuse to make the exact same mistake twice.
The first giant swung its club. At that exact second, three dragons breathed poison from the sky, while dozens of hidden beasts burst from the ground below. It was a perfectly timed, deadly trap.
Against anyone else, it meant instant death. Seo-Jun's breathing slowed down. The loud chaos of the battlefield faded from his mind. The wind, the noise, and the killing intent all became distant.
Only one thing remained in his entire world. The cheap wooden sword in his hand. His breathing no longer tried to force power into his body. He simply threw away everything that was not needed.
Every stray thought, every wasted move, and every bit of fear vanished. His mind became completely still and silent. The world around him answered that deep silence by slowing down to a crawl.
It wasn't because the monsters grew weaker. It was because his mind had become impossibly clear. The heavy club fell, the poison rained down, and claws rushed at him from every single side.
Seo-Jun took a step forward. His wooden sword drew a quiet, perfect circle in the air, and the first giant fell into pieces. He took another step, cutting a dragon's wing off before it even felt the pain.

He turned smoothly, splitting two beasts in half before their claws could reach his face. He flowed through the bloody battlefield like a calm, gentle river, connecting every single move perfectly.
He used no wasted effort and no extra strength. There was only pure, deadly efficiency. Yet, a deep frown formed on Seo-Jun's calm face. "...Not enough," the words slipped from his lips without thinking.
His sword was getting cleaner, and his instincts were getting sharper. But the enemies around him were still just born from cold math. Their thoughts were trapped by numbers and logic.
They could learn, but they could never create anything new. They could adapt, but they could not surprise him. The disappointing truth settled quietly in his heart as he raised his wooden sword high.
"...Primordial Chaos Qi." The moment he spoke those words, the very air around him began to tremble in fear. An unknown, heavy pressure flowed from his core, feeling endlessly ancient.
It was like the deep, heavy silence that existed before the world was even born. Darkness and light wrapped around the wooden blade together, blending two opposite powers into perfect peace.
It was wild chaos, finally given absolute order and shape. The wooden sword began to shake, tiny cracks spreading across the cheap wood. It simply could not hold this much power.
Seo-Jun swung the cracking blade. There was no loud explosion or bright flash.
✦ ✦ ✦
It was just a single, quiet slash. A silent line cut right across the entire battlefield. For one brief moment, nothing seemed to happen at all. Then, the distant horizon split cleanly in half.
Huge mountains collapsed into dust. The black river was perfectly divided into two streams. Every monster standing in the path of the swing melted into light before they even knew they were dead.
Total silence returned to the broken land. High above the ruined world, the hollow voice spoke again.

Reconstructing Battlefield...
The fake world shook violently. The broken mountains grew back up, and the dark rivers changed their paths. Thick, green forests bloomed where the dead dirt used to be, and rain suddenly began to fall.
Then the rain turned into freezing snow. A moment later, burning heat chased the cold away. The room itself was changing and evolving, desperately searching for a place where Seo-Jun would lose.
Seo-Jun slowly looked around at the changing weather. A faint smile touched his face.
"So you have finally started thinking." The next brutal battle began, and then another one right after.
Time completely lost its meaning in that room. Hours melted into days, and the days blended together. The fake sun rising and setting became nothing more than a painted background to his endless war.
Sometimes, Seo-Jun won the fight easily. Sometimes, he died a painful death. An arrow he missed pierced right through his throat. A hidden killer struck him when his tired mind lost focus.
A massive wave of attacks left him with nowhere to run or hide. Each painful death came without a shred of mercy. Each time he woke up again, he did it without a single complaint.
Again. Again. Again. Every brutal loss carved away another weakness from his soul. A small moment of fear, a bad habit, a useless step, or a single wasted breath. They all vanished one by one.
The Seo-Jun who stood up after each death was never the same man who had fallen just moments before. Little by little, he threw away all his flaws until the room itself stopped announcing his wins.
Instead, the voice simply said....

The machine had completely stopped caring about who won or lost. It had simply started measuring his endless growth.
✦ ✦ ✦
On the fourth day, the battlefield finally grew perfectly quiet. The wind blew away the last glowing ashes of the dead monsters. No more beasts crawled from the dirt, and no more warning signs flashed.
Seo-Jun stood all alone in an endless land of ruins. The wooden sword still rested easily in his tired hand. The blade was completely covered in deep cracks now. One more hard swing would shatter it forever.
He looked down at the ruined, cheap weapon, gently wiping the dust away from its cracked surface.
"...You did very well." Getting a stronger sword would have been an easy choice.
But that had never been the point of this training. A legendary weapon could never hide the mistakes of a bad swordsman. The real flaw was always the person holding the hilt, never the blade itself.
His dark eyes slowly swept across the quiet, empty battlefield. The room had beaten every single expectation he had. It could build worlds, change the weather, command huge armies, and learn from its losses.
Yet, something very important was still missing. Something no smart machine could ever hope to copy. True experience. It was not just combat data, but the messy, unpredictable weight of a real life.
The fake monsters only fought because they wanted to win. Real humans fought for messy, painful reasons. They fought for fear, hate, greed, pride, or pure, blind desperation.
Some threw away logic entirely. Others would gladly sacrifice their own lives just to create a single opening. Those crazy, illogical choices were exactly what made real people so incredibly dangerous.
Machines could perfectly copy the moves of a battle, but they could never copy the heavy weight of a human life. Seo-Jun closed his eyes. Old faces from his deep memories slowly floated back to the surface.
Some of them held sharp swords. Some burned the world with fire. Some stood at the very peak of human power, while others were not even human at all. Each one of them had pushed him to the edge of death.
Each of those past enemies had left behind a painful lesson written in his own blood. Slowly, Seo-Jun opened his eyes again. His calm gaze settled on the hidden control screen floating in the fake sky.
"It seems..." his quiet voice echoed across the empty, broken land. "...I have reached the limit of what this machine can teach me." The room answered him instantly.
Awaiting New Combat Parameters.
Seo-Jun's fingers lightly tapped the glowing screen in the air. A faint, knowing smile appeared on his tired face. It was a smile that held no wild excitement or foolish pride. It only held quiet anticipation.
"If this room cannot make foes worthy of my time..." His eyes grew dark as bloody memories from his past life woke up inside his mind once again.
"...Then I will just have to provide them myself."
The fake battlefield fell completely silent. It was as if even the smart machine understood his words. His true, deadly training was only just about to begin.
