THE SYSTEM IS NOT MINE
Chapter 101: The Execution of the City Lord Shua
The morning arrived in Ebonreach, but it was not peaceful.
Everywhere, on every street, people discussed the upcoming war.
And along with the war, they discussed the execution of Lord Shua today.
Within the city, some rushed and waited at the entrance of the gate, waiting for the traitor.
The giant gate was pushed open. The crowd anticipated the arrival of the traitor, but all they saw was a group of soldiers coming in and standing aside.
The public began to gather around. The soldiers acted and maintained order.
Thirty minutes passed.
"Is the traitor not here yet?" A man wearing white clothes in the crowd spoke.
"No," the man next to him, who wore a red hat, spoke.
Right at that moment, the giant gate opened again.
A man chained with black collars and cuffs was being dragged by a horse. His mouth was tied with a cloth.
A woman was riding the horse. Her hand held a chain attached to Shua's collar.
"Isn't that General Hecta?" someone recognized the woman on the horse.
Behind General Hecta, Commander Leo and other soldiers followed.
The capital was very well packed. Shua kept his head down as he was dragged by chains.
He looked up when he arrived at the castle gates of the Royal Palace, the black building reaching the sky with a giant leaf floating above.
He glared at it with red eyes, then he turned sideways, where a platform was already prepared.
A large blade hung above the platform, suspended by a rope attached to a pulley. Beneath it was an opening large enough for a human head.
After a few moments, the palace gate opened.
A man came out, wearing black robes covered with the leaf symbol. He was holding the hand of a boy around the age of ten, who similarly wore royal robes.
Immediately everyone knelt and bowed toward him.
"Stand up!" King Xia Shin ordered as everyone stood up, while the prince looked at them all.
Right then, another unit of soldiers reached there. Han Defu stood in front, and behind him, Luma, Chen Yu, Yan, and other soldiers walked.

King Xia Shin looked at Han Defu and the others and said, "Han Defu, you are late."
Han Defu immediately bowed. "My apologies, Your Majesty. I was drunk with the sadness of Chu Feng passing away yesterday."
"But I couldn't let go of this opportunity to see the death of the traitor who acted against Sir Chu Feng. I forced myself to be awake and reach here as soon as possible."
The King glared at Han Defu and did not say anything.
"People of the Kingdom are so lazy, they don't even know to arrive on time regardless of the reason." But the prince said.
Han Defu kept his head down, even from the crowd, no one dared to say anything.
Then the prince's eyes fell on a man behind Han Defu, he looked up at his father, and grabbed his hand, and started pulling the dress on the hand "Father, Father, Chen Yu is here.."
"Xia Ding, We are outside, behave yourself." The king reprimanded as the prince stopped pulling, corrected his posture.
"Ahem!" He brought his hand to the mouth and straightened his back.
Then the King turned toward Shua and said, "Let's begin."
The soldiers came forward and pushed Shua toward the guillotine and inserted his head into the hole.
The King walked in front of Shua and pulled the cloth out of his mouth. "Any last words?"
Shua coughed out papers from his mouth.
"You bast—" Before he could say anything, the blade descended, and his head separated while his mouth was still open.
"Sorry, my bad! My hand slipped." The one holding the ropes spoke.
The King looked at the executioner. "Why? Can't you hold it a bit steadily?"
"No matter how much of a traitor he was, he served the Kingdom all his life. He could have revealed the reason to betray the Kingdom as his last words."
The King sighed.
"Soldiers, arrest this man and put him in prison."
The soldiers moved forward and grabbed the executioner. The executioner did not resist but went along with them.
Then the King turned toward the crowd and said, "Justice is served."
"Long live Your Majesty!" one among the crowd shouted.
"Long live the Kingdom of Noir!" the other shouted.
"Long live Your Majesty!"
"Long live the Kingdom of Noir!"
The chants spread everywhere. Then the King turned towards the place, held the hand of Xia Ding and left the place.
Once king reached inside the palace, the place gate was shut.
"Father, Do all criminals are fed papers before execution?" Xia Ding looked up at his father.
"Not all, sometimes it's needed, you will learn once you grow up." Xia Shin rubbed on the top of Xia Ding as they walked inside.
After about twenty minutes, people began to leave.
"Sir Han Defu, Yan is new to the capital city. I would like to show him around," Chen Yu asked as Yan and Chen Yu stood in front of Han Defu.
"Go ahead," Han Defu said. Then he left with the others, leaving Yan and Chen Yu behind.
Chen Yu and Yan then started walking through the streets of Ebonreach.
First they halted in front of a large cream-colored mansion with an open garden and three fountains.
Multiple wagons and carriages were parked to one side inside the garden.
The mansion had a board hung on it: "Saint Merchants."
At the gate of the mansion, a long line of people stood.
"They must have come to join the Anti Green Foundation," Chen Yu said.
Yan looked over and saw familiar faces. Hua Fain stood at the front, inspecting the crowd.
Mutai carried an axe on his back, folding his hands, he stood beside Hai Mazi, who was noting names and giving out forms.
Yan stayed still. Some thoughts ran through his mind, and then he said to Chen Yu, "Let's go somewhere else."
"Shall we go to the Resonance tower?" Chen Yu said.
"What's that?" Yan asked.
"It's the place which measures our spiritual lines and resonance color, Don't you know about it ?" Chen Yu looked at Yan as it was pretty common knowledge among the people.
"I come from a remote village, " Yan replied.
Chen Yu did not ask further as he led the way.
"My resonance was orange, and I have six spiritual lines, what about you?" Chen Yu asked.
"I don't know." Yan replied, but Chen Yu did not buy the answer, there was no way one started cultivation without knowing that they are capable of doing it without measuring resonance.
Soon they stopped outside the small hut, the board hung on it was broken and cracked, clearly, the words Resonance Tower were written on it.
