The Surrogate He Discarded
Chapter 326: His Lady Luck
At the Dalton Realty headquarters,
Kristoff leaned back in his executive chair, a satisfied smile playing on his lips as he examined the share transfer agreement placed before him by the company’s legal counsel.
Five percent.
That was how much of Dalton Realty’s shares John Ascott had agreed to transfer to him.
He heard about what happened to John. Did he sympathize with him?
Of course not. John Ascott was the man who did not play by the rules. His wealth come from playing dirty and what happened to him now must be karma!
Kristoff picked up his pen and carefully filled in the beneficiary’s name before signing the document. He took his time, almost savoring the moment.
What a satisfying deal.
He had not only secured a valuable stake in the company but had also managed to turn the recent controversy into an unexpected business advantage.
His gaze shifted to the summary of trending topics displayed on his laptop screen. His AI assistant had compiled the latest online discussions, along with the public sentiment surrounding the people and companies involved.
Isobel was undoubtedly the biggest winner.
Aioryx had also benefitted from his scandal, driving their sales to a crazy high. Its reputation had received a considerable boost, and public interest in its technologies had skyrocketed.
Kristoff chuckled.
The moment he noticed that the online conversation had shifted toward Isobel and her inventions, he had recognized an opportunity he couldn’t afford to miss.
Without wasting time, he instructed his team to release an announcement across multiple online platforms, officially unveiling Dalton Realty’s partnership with Aioryx.
His latest development project, an exclusive high-end residential community in the upscale village of Aldea, would incorporate Aioryx’s advanced technologies into its security and safety systems.
But that wasn’t all.
Every villa would come with its own KitKat companion, adding another layer of smart security and convenience for future homeowners.
The announcement had created an immediate buzz.
What had initially been a marketing campaign quickly turned into a frenzy of inquiries. Reservations poured in, and the expensive villas were being snapped up almost as quickly as they were released.
Kristoff had even confirmed that the partnership with Aioryx was not a one-time arrangement. It was a long-term collaboration, with the same advanced security features to be integrated into all of Dalton Realty’s future developments.
The impact was already evident.
Public confidence in Dalton Realty had strengthened, its corporate image had improved, and its share price had begun climbing.
Kristoff’s smile widened as he glanced at the figures on his screen.
Who would have thought that a controversy involving someone else’s name could turn into such a profitable opportunity?
He had secured a five-percent stake, strengthened his company’s market position, and given Dalton Realty a technological edge over its competitors.
Three victories in one move.
He placed the signed agreement aside, looking thoroughly pleased with himself.
Sometimes, the best opportunities didn’t come from carefully laid plans.
They came from knowing exactly when to strike.
...
Isobel was about to settle down at her desk when she noticed a carefully wrapped gift box placed neatly at the center of her table.
Beside it lay a single-stem bi-color rose.
She paused, her eyes lingering on the unusual flower. Its inner petals were a deep, velvety crimson, while the reverse side shimmered in silvery white. The striking contrast made it look almost unreal, as though two different roses had somehow been fused into one.
Curious, she picked up the small card attached to the box..
The moment she read the message, her heart gave an unexpected flutter.
You are my Lady Luck.
Kristoff.
A faint smile tugged at her lips.
She carefully lifted the lid of the gift box. Inside was a folded document, secured in an elegant envelope.
Her curiosity turned into confusion when she unfolded it.
It was a share transfer agreement.
And the beneficiary’s name was hers.
Isobel Lancey.
Five percent of Dalton Realty.
Her eyes widened.
For several seconds, she simply stared at the document, wondering if she had misunderstood what she was reading.
She read it once.
Then again.
And a third time.
There was no mistake. Kristoff had transferred five percent of Dalton Realty’s shares to her.
"How could he do this?"
She immediately reached for her phone, intending to call Kristoff and demand an explanation.
But before she could dial his number, Morgan walked into her office.
His gaze fell on the document spread across her desk.
"What’s that?"
"Bro, Kristoff sent this to me." Isobel held up the agreement, her expression still bewildered. "But I can’t accept it. This is too much."
Morgan glanced at the document before giving her an amused look.
"Why not? Take it. You deserve it."
"But this is five percent of Dalton Realty!"
"And?" Morgan shrugged casually. "It’s not as if he had to buy those shares."
Isobel frowned, clearly unconvinced.
"What do you mean?"
"Kristoff won them from a bet with one of Dalton Realty’s longtime shareholders. Besides, if not for you hugging the headlines with your inventions, how could he win?"
"Oh..."
Isobel could not still understand why Kristoff had given her the shares. Probably it was because she was Alexander’s mother.
Morgan’s expression turned slightly mischievous as he glanced at the rose and the gift box.
"Besides, I doubt he would appreciate you returning his gift."
Isobel looked down at the card again.
You are my Lady Luck.
For some reason, those few words suddenly seemed more significant than the five percent shareholding.
She pressed her lips together, trying to suppress the smile threatening to surface.
"Still, it’s a very generous gift," she murmured.
Morgan chuckled.
"Then accept it. Kristoff wouldn’t have sent it if he didn’t want you to have it."
Isobel looked at the document once more.
Since Morgan believed she deserved it, she finally decided to accept the gift, albeit reluctantly.
However, she couldn’t help wondering whether Kristoff had simply wanted to share his good fortune with her...
Or whether there was something more behind his unusual declaration.
