The Surgeon’s Studio

Chapter 630 - After Surgery, He Would Visit The Patient

Chapter 630: After Surgery, He Would Visit The Patient

After talking for a while, Zheng Ren finished his silhouette and the professor took him to the Radisson Hotel near the Stockholm waterfront.

The place was relatively close to the old city of Stockholm, so the professor gave Zheng Ren a brief tour and history of the place.

However, Zheng Ren had no interest in such things.

He was not interested in the old city or any sort of buildings of history that told a story through the passage of time.

After he checked in, Zheng Ren took a shower and chatted with Xie Yiren on WeChat for a while before he went straight to sleep.

The day was quite torturous.

He flew from Southern China to the Imperial Capital, then to northern Europe to even do brand-new surgical training…

However, there was one benefit of performing surgery at the Carolyn Medical and Surgical Research Institute in Stockholm, which was that he did not have to worry about the patient’s postoperative care.

If they could not perform the surgery and the postoperative care could not keep up, then the place would no longer be used as a judging body for the Nobel Prize in Medicine.

Sleeping there was not like sleeping back at home and thinking about the patient’s condition in the middle of the night.

Zheng Ren slept very soundly. When he woke up, it was already around two o’clock in the afternoon.

He had jet lag… Zheng Ren was a little troubled. It was better for him to go back as soon as possible.

After getting up and having a wash, Zheng Ren gave the professor a call. Soon, the professor came to the hotel and picked Zheng Ren up for dinner.

“Boss, Dr. Mehar can already eat liquid food. He has recovered very well.” When they met, Rudolf Wagner summarized the doctor’s recovery with one sentence.

“Oh,” Zheng Ren replied.

Should he not recover well?

All three coronary arteries were opened and the heart muscle was no longer ischemic. As long as the acute phase was over, Zheng Ren felt that Dr. Mehar would be able to be discharged by tonight or by next morning at the latest.

“The doctor said that he wants to see you.” Rudolf Wagner’s eyes flickered with something burning behind his gaze.

“He wants me to visit my patient after surgery?” Zheng Ren smiled and said, “We should go. Do you want to eat or see Dr. Mehar first?”

The professor hesitated for a moment before Su Yun said impatiently, “Of course I want to eat first. I’m starving. Foreign doctors also operate on an empty stomach. Do you want to see the patient?”

There was no need to hesitate. Although Professor Rudolf Wagner was impatient, he had to eat when it was mealtime.

Otherwise, if Brother Yun was unhappy, only God knew what kind of nasty words he would say in front of Dr. Mehar.

The professor had an inexplicable fear of Su Yun. He did not know how it had formed.

“Boss, I thought about it and the surgical method you chose is really awesome!” Su Yun said as he was sitting in the car after yawning.

“Huh? Are you talking about the recyclable stent?” Zheng Ren was puzzled. Why was Su Yun still thinking about it?

“Yeah,” Su Yun said. “You don’t even know that when I told Mrs. Mehar about the surgery yesterday, those people had weird expressions on their faces.”

“There’s nothing special about it, right?” Zheng Ren said, “In Dr. Mehar’s case, a recyclable stent was the best choice.”

“Yes, Lil Fugui… In our case, a recyclable stent was the best choice,” Su Yun said. “Boss, you don’t even know how strict these people are in reviewing our documents. Lil Fugui has been settling it for us. If we do it ourselves, I’m afraid that the timeline would be extended to about five to ten years.”

“Don’t think too much. The award declaration has nothing to do with the choice of the surgical method.” Zheng Ren naturally knew what Su Yun meant and shook his head.

“Keep pretending.” Su Yun blew a disdainful breath. The black hair on his forehead fluttered in agreement. “At least Dr. Mehar would have never been able to live without you.”

“That’s not what you said. If someone’s surgical skills improve by leaps and bounds and catch up with mine, it’s possible they can operate on him too,” Zheng Ren said flatly.

Su Yun was stunned. He looked at Zheng Ren and could not say a word.

After a long time, he said with heartfelt emotion, “Boss, what I admire most about you is your inexplicable confidence.”

‘That’s not really the case, right?’ Zheng Ren thought to himself. His skills came from training for dozens of days in the System’s operating theater. How could he say it was inexplicable?

Su Yun shook his head. His pupils dilated slightly as his eyes were void of emotions. No one knew what he was thinking.

Professor Rudolf Wagner did not interrupt. He also had his own thoughts.

Soon, the professor brought Zheng Ren and Su Yun to a western restaurant. The professor introduced Zheng Ren to the steaks here, on how good and authentic they were. The steaks there…

Zheng Ren did not listen to a single word. To him, what the professor said was irrelevant. If it were not for Su Yun’s insistence, he would have been in the ward of Karolin Medical and Surgical Research Institute in Stockholm by now.

Su Yun recognized the restaurant as being famous but because he was about to meet Dr. Mehar, he could not drink and felt a bit unhappy.

It was always wrong to eat steak without drinking some red wine.

The professor did not think that was the case.

Just a drink for someone like him was nothing. Normally, Germans who liked to drink beer would not give up on drinking even if they had a hangover but the professor refused to drink with Su Yun and Chang Yue, even if Su Yun did not drink at all that day.

Since he did not drink, Zheng Ren was also not interested in western-style eating and the meal ended quickly.

Little Oliver drove the three of them all the way to the intensive care unit of Karolin Medical and Surgical Research Institute in Stockholm.

The professor led the way for Zheng Ren and Su Yun into yesterday’s ward.

Through the glass of the intensive care unit, Zheng Ren saw an old man half-sitting on the bed. He was wearing presbyopia glasses and looking at something in his hands.

Professor Rudolf Wagner knocked on the transparent glass door out of courtesy. Dr. Mehar looked up, smiling as he waved.

The three of them walked in. Zheng Ren saw that Dr. Mehar’s ECMO had been removed, and only his vital signs were still being checked by the ECG monitor.

The ECG waveform looked like a complete sinus rhythm. It was especially perfect.

However, he tried to do some ‘intense’ exercises, such as getting out of bed and taking a walk.

Zheng Ren did not understand what Dr. Mehar said, so the professor acted as his interpreter.

“Young man, I’m glad to meet you. I think that the Lord does not want to take in a devout child like me so that I can continue to spread his glory to the world.” The professor translated Dr. Mehar’s words.

“Hehe.” Zheng Ren smiled.

Professor Rudolf Wagner was stunned.

How would he translate that? However, it didn’t seem like something that needed translating.

However, would it not be too impolite to just respond to Dr. Mehar’s words with a chuckle?

The professor was conflicted and depressed, wanting to pull his hair out one strand at a time.

“Sit down. I saw the silhouette of you performing the surgery on me. The surgery was done exceptionally well. I heard from Rudolf that you have a pair of hands that have been kissed by the heavens. Now that I look at it, it is indeed so,” Dr. Mehar said.

“Hehe.” Zheng Ren chuckled again.
