Chapter 78: Chapter 79: A Meeting with Qin Gang
Toward the end of the afternoon, Li Yang and Liu Jinsheng stood by the car, waiting for them.
"Everyone, listen up!" Li Yang said, waving them over. "I see you all caught a lot today. How about this? To show our appreciation, you can leave one of your fish in our pond. A week from now, you can come back to fish again, and I’ll knock ten yuan off your meal and cook a fish for you. How does that sound?"
The men exchanged glances.
"I don’t mean anything else by it, it’s just a way to thank you all!" Li Yang told them. "Of course, if you don’t want to leave a fish, that’s fine too."
"I’ll leave one!" one of the men said with a laugh. "I caught five fish today, so I’ll leave one for you. I’m coming back in a week anyway. Just make sure you cook a fish for me then."
"Rest assured, you’ll definitely get your fish!" Li Yang replied with a smile.
Many people chose to leave a fish. After all, they were quite satisfied with the place and had caught a good number of fish. What was one fish in the grand scheme of things?
Liu Jinsheng watched in utter confusion, having no idea what Li Yang planned to do with these fish.
But then again, ’I’m probably not smart enough to figure out what Li Yang is up to. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have let him screw me over so many times.’
’Instead of wasting brainpower on this, I might as well focus on being a good gofer.’
These fish were not to be underestimated. If each person left one, that would amount to over a hundred fish.
Li Yang put all of them into the adjacent pond.
After he was done, Li Yang got two large bags of feed from Zhou Liyun.
"Will the fish eat this?" Zhou Liyun asked, looking a bit lost.
"They’ll eat it!" Li Yang chuckled. "That pond of mine is as clear as a mirror; there’s nothing for them to eat. If they don’t eat this, they’ll starve, won’t they?"
Zhou Liyun thought about it and realized he had a point, so she left him to it.
Around three o’clock the next afternoon, Li Yang received a call from Zhao Xuechu.
Over the phone, Zhao Xuechu’s voice trembled slightly. "Our restaurant opened today."
Li Yang paused for a moment. "Huh... today? I didn’t even show up. I got busy and completely forgot."
"It’s fine, that’s not important!" Zhao Xuechu forced herself to calm down before continuing. "Do you know what our revenue was just from the lunch rush?"
Li Yang had no idea.
"Eighty-seven thousand!" Zhao Xuechu could no longer contain her excitement. "Just this morning, our revenue hit eighty-seven thousand! And everyone who ate here raved about the food, especially your chicken. They all said it’s incredibly delicious."
Eighty-seven thousand!
Li Yang’s eyes lit up. "Is that a lot?"
"Of course it is! Where are you going to find business this good right from the start? I’m sure of it now—this restaurant of ours is really going to succeed."
Li Yang clapped his hands. "That’s great! Just focus on running the business, then."
"The menu is too limited. You need to get me some other kinds of meat, quickly. Fish, duck, anything," Zhao Xuechu said with great seriousness. "And by my estimation, if our medicinal cuisine is genuinely effective, we’ll get a lot of repeat customers. Our business will only get better from there."
Li Yang agreed. "That makes sense. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of the ingredient supply issue for you."
After hanging up, Li Yang couldn’t help but smile. ’This was a good move.’
Just as he was thinking this, he got a call from Qin Susu. "Li Yang, are you free? If so, could you come over to my house?"
"What’s up?" Li Yang asked, a little confused.
"It’s my dad. He has something he wants to ask you about. He said it’s a medical matter, but he won’t tell me the details. He just asked me to invite you over."
Li Yang suddenly felt an urge to laugh. He knew exactly what this was about.
’Qin Gang, so your day has finally come!’
"Sure, I’ll head out right now!" Li Yang chuckled. "Consider it done."
In high spirits, he got into his little pickup truck and headed for the city.
He had just pulled up outside Qin Susu’s villa when Qin Gang walked out. Forcing a smile, he said to Li Yang, "Let’s go out to eat today. We can talk about... man-to-man stuff."
Li Yang glanced at him. "We’re not asking them to come?"
"No, no..." Qin Gang said with a hollow laugh. "Just the two of us."
"Alright!" Li Yang nodded. "Where to?"
"Let’s go to Hidden Dragon Manor!" Qin Gang said, then got into his car.
’Doesn’t matter to me where we go!’
Li Yang got back in his truck and drove to Hidden Dragon Manor.
As soon as the proprietress saw Li Yang, she rushed over excitedly. "Are you here with the wild onions? You’d better be quick, we’re almost out."
"Sorry, I forgot!" Li Yang slapped his forehead, looking apologetic. "I’m actually here to talk business with someone."
The proprietress gave him a playful glare. "You just love to mess with me, don’t you?"
"I’ll have them sent over! Someone will bring them tomorrow!" Li Yang said, glancing over at Qin Gang, who had just walked up.
The proprietress said no more.
The two men entered a private room and sat down.
Compared to the confident, high-and-mighty man from their previous two encounters, Qin Gang was clearly much more subdued this time.
"Mr. Qin, I heard you got divorced?" Li Yang asked, intentionally broaching the subject.
Qin Gang froze, a flicker of embarrassment crossing his face.
"Oh, right, I heard from Susu... those two kids aren’t yours?" Li Yang asked, his mouth agape in feigned surprise. "Your wife actually had children with some other man, and you raised them for more than ten years... Wow... that’s gotta sting!"
Qin Gang nearly coughed up a mouthful of blood.
’I know it stings, but you don’t have to twist the knife like that... Damn it, you’re going to kill me with these jabs!’
’Besides, weren’t you the one who fucking caused all this in the first place? You’re doing this on purpose just to mock me, aren’t you?’
