Chapter 71: Chapter 72: The Negotiations Fell Through
A "fishing guide!"
Although it was the first time Li Yang had heard such a title, he could guess what it meant.
’Who knew a job like this even existed if you weren’t in the business!’
"Well, how about this? Why don’t we meet up?" Li Yang said.
"Sure!" the person on the other end replied crisply. "The Moonlight Cafe in the city, you know it? Come here and we’ll talk!"
"Alright!"
After they finished talking, Li Yang was grinning from ear to ear. He immediately drove to the Moonlight Cafe.
By the time he arrived, it was already past two in the afternoon.
Once there, Li Yang didn’t recognize anyone, so he sent a private message, "Where are you?"
"Over here!" Just then, a middle-aged man across the way raised his hand and waved at Li Yang.
Li Yang walked over.
"How should I address you?" the man asked with a smile.
"My name is Li Yang," he said with a nod.
"Liu Jinsheng!" the man said, smiling. "You like to fish, too?"
’Like hell I do!’
’The only fish I like catching are suckers like you.’
Li Yang gave a sly chuckle and said, "Mr. Liu, let’s skip the pleasantries. Let’s get straight to it. How are we going to cooperate?"
Liu Jinsheng smiled. "I’m guessing your place is in some remote village in Ruizhou. I don’t know the exact location, but I could probably find it with a little digging. The reason I wanted to meet is because I need someone to handle lunch. We bring people out there to fish, usually arriving around eight or nine in the morning and heading back at five or six in the evening. They need to eat a meal in between. There are no restaurants in the countryside, so that’s a problem. We can cooperate. I’ll give you ten yuan per person for the meal fee. You solve their food problem, and I’ll bring people over to fish."
’He’ll share the meal fee with me?’
Li Yang understood.
"If you don’t mind me asking..." Li Yang thought for a moment before speaking. "Since you’re the fishing guide, I’d like to know, how much do you make from them per trip?"
Liu Jinsheng looked displeased. "That’s none of your business. I’m just asking if you’ll take this deal or not."
Li Yang thought for a moment and said, "Ten yuan is too low. How about this: thirty yuan per meal. I can give that a try."
"Thirty?" Liu Jinsheng shook his head. "Impossible. That price is too high. If you’re taking thirty, how am I supposed to make any money?"
Li Yang knew the man was definitely making a hefty profit.
"Then let me ask another bold question, how many people can you bring at once?" Li Yang changed the subject.
"At least a busload. A bus holds about fifty people, so that means at least fifty people per trip!" Liu Jinsheng said with a dry chuckle.
’Fifty people!’
’If he charges one hundred yuan per person, that’s five thousand. Subtract five hundred for their food, plus the cost of the driver and bus rental... he’d make at least three thousand from one trip.’
’Damn, that’s a ridiculous profit margin!’
"How about this, Boss Liu? Why don’t we just become partners?" Li Yang was getting excited. "I’ll provide food and lodging over there, and you’ll be in charge of bringing people. What do you say?"
"Partners? On what grounds?" Liu Jinsheng was instantly dismissive. "I’m the one who finds the people. Why should I partner with you? In your dreams!"
’Heh, so you won’t even hear me out, huh?’
"I really can’t do it for a ten-yuan meal fee!" Li Yang chuckled and stood up. "If you like that price, go find someone else to do it."
With that, he walked away without a backward glance.
’Ten yuan for a meal... does he really think I’m some gullible country bumpkin?’
Liu Jinsheng was stunned for a moment. "If you don’t do it, you won’t even make that ten yuan."
"Is that so?" Li Yang chuckled. "Then go find someone who’s willing. In any case, I’m not."
After saying that, Li Yang didn’t say another word and quickly left.
Liu Jinsheng spat on the ground. "Just some country bumpkin, putting on airs in front of me. Giving you ten yuan was already doing you a favor. Damn it!"
After Li Yang came out, an idea had already formed in his mind.
’Since this fishing business is so profitable, why should I let someone else take the lion’s share?’
’Damn it, I’ll do it myself!’
With that thought, Li Yang immediately went to a fishing tackle shop to have a look.
The selection was quite complete; they had everything.
Li Yang picked out a few things, paid, and headed home with the fishing gear.
He parked his car and went to Xia Lian’s house.
"Aunt Lian..." Li Yang grinned, finding Xia Lian playing with her child. "The mushroom house is quiet right now, right? Come on, help me with something."
"What is it?" Xia Lian asked, confused.
"Come on, you’re going to record a video for me!" Li Yang grinned. "Hurry up. I’m going fishing, and you’re going to film me."
"Huh?" Xia Lian looked completely baffled.
But Li Yang led her to a good fishing spot, pointed, and said, "Aunt Lian, help me record this, okay? I’ll fish right here. You just hold the phone and film me. Make sure you don’t get distracted."
"O-Okay, sure!" Xia Lian didn’t know what he was up to, but she nodded and agreed.
Soon, Li Yang officially started fishing.
He cast his line into the water and began to wait for a bite.
It turned out there were indeed a lot of fish here, and the spot was basically untouched. It wasn’t long before he got a bite.
