Chapter 65 - 66: I Really Am the Boss
Chapter 65: Chapter 66: I Really Am the Boss
Li Yang’s heart skipped a beat as his gaze drifted down to her ample chest.
"Boss Lady, you shouldn’t play with fire," Li Yang said with a straight face. "If you get burned, it’s not my problem."
"Then light me up!" the proprietress giggled. "I’m not scared of a little fire. I’m just worried you’ve got no spark!"
’Holy shit, don’t tease me like this!’
’I might actually take you up on that!’
Li Yang was reaching his breaking point.
But just then, the proprietress’s phone suddenly rang.
"Who in the world could that be?" The proprietress had no choice but to stand up and answer the phone. "Hello...?"
"Ah!" Just as she spoke, Li Yang landed a firm slap on her ass.
"What are you doing?" Her seductive-sounding yelp immediately raised suspicion on the other end of the line.
"It’s nothing, nothing..." The proprietress glared at Li Yang, who was grinning mischievously after his little prank.
Li Yang had already made a run for it.
"Boss Lady, you can raise the price on those wild onions now, right? Tally up what you owe me and send the money online." By the time he finished speaking, Li Yang was already gone.
After taking care of that, he still had to go see Zhao Xuechu.
He followed his GPS to Zhao Xuechu’s Xue Chu Medicine Restaurant.
The red sign featured golden characters in an elegant clerical script.
It had a certain charm.
Li Yang immediately walked inside.
The restaurant wasn’t officially open yet, but it was in the final stages of preparation, with quite a few staff members inside.
As Li Yang entered, he heard a very familiar voice. "Everyone, be careful! Move those chairs properly..."
Li Yang froze. He saw Liu Qian of all people, directing the other workers.
’What the hell? What is she doing here?’
Liu Qian had clearly seen him too. She was startled for a moment, then a cold sneer spread across her face.
"What are you doing here? We’re not open yet. Get out!" Liu Qian clearly harbored a special kind of hatred for Li Yang, and her tone was incredibly rude.
’Looks like Su Yunmeng fired them.’ He thought.
’In reality, I never targeted them. I wouldn’t have cared if they kept working there.’
"Did you think we wouldn’t be able to survive just because you got Su Yunmeng to fire us?" Liu Qian lifted her chin arrogantly, her voice laced with disdain. "Let me tell you something, I’m a college graduate. I can find a job anywhere. See? I’m the assistant manager of this restaurant now. With my skills, I’ll be promoted to manager in no time."
Li Yang looked at her arrogant and prideful display and said quietly, "I have some bad news for you. Actually... I own a stake in this restaurant."
"Haha..." Liu Qian stared blankly for a second before bursting into laughter. "Why don’t you just say you own the whole place? Li Yang, give me a break. You think you can do whatever you want just because you’re Aunt Rong’s kept man? You, a shareholder? You’re full of shit!"
Li Yang looked at her twisted expression and said with a sigh, "See? I tell you the truth and you refuse to listen. Last time, I told you I wasn’t at Yunrong Cosmetics Company to see you, but you insisted I was. And what did the facts prove? That I wasn’t there for you, right? This time..."
"Last time was last time, and this time is this time! Do you think you own businesses everywhere you go?" Liu Qian spat viciously.
Li Yang sighed.
Just then, Zhao Xuechu came out from the back. "You’re here. Come on in. Perfect timing. Let’s discuss the menu."
Li Yang stood still.
Liu Qian froze. "President Zhao, are you talking to me?"
Zhao Xuechu looked baffled. She shook her head and pointed at Li Yang. "I’m talking to you. Come over here. We agreed when you invested that this would be your responsibility. Are you trying to bail on me already?"
’What!’
Liu Qian’s knees felt weak, and she almost collapsed.
"Alright, I’m coming!" Seeing the look on Liu Qian’s face—like she wanted to cry but couldn’t even manage that—Li Yang finally felt a deep sense of satisfaction.
’Sorry, I’m just that petty.’
"Boss..." Liu Qian suddenly covered her face and burst into sobs.
’What did I do to deserve this? Is there no getting away from Li Yang?’
’How are you my boss everywhere I go?!’
After they went inside, Zhao Xuechu looked at Li Yang. "You know her?"
"High school classmate," Li Yang said with a smirk. "I guess you could say we know each other."
Zhao Xuechu understood the situation. "Should I fire her?"
"That’s your call." Li Yang shook his head. "You’re in charge of operations. I’m not getting involved."
Zhao Xuechu understood. She nodded and took out the medicinal cuisine recipes. "Here, take a look. These are the backup recipes I’ve drafted. What do you think?"
Li Yang took them and glanced over them for a moment before speaking. "These recipes of yours are quite impressive."
Zhao Xuechu smiled faintly.
Of course they were. She had good reason to be confident in opening a medicinal cuisine restaurant.
"But they’re clearly a bit too traditional," Li Yang quickly added, shaking his head. "Many of them are outdated."
Zhao Xuechu was taken aback. "You’re saying my recipes are outdated?"
"Just because a recipe is old doesn’t mean it’s good," Li Yang said with a light chuckle. "Some of these are useful, some are useless, and some... some could even make people sick."
"What?" Zhao Xuechu stared at Li Yang in shock. "That’s impossible. These medicinal cuisine recipes are..."
She trailed off, her words stopping abruptly.
