Chapter 62: Chapter 63: Li Yang’s Revenge
Wu Juan had just put the money away. When she came out and saw Qin Gang holding the door shut, she was completely bewildered. "What are you doing?"
She immediately stepped forward.
SLAP!
Qin Gang spun around and slapped her across the face. "You bitch! Look at the mess you’ve made!"
With that, Qin Gang stopped trying to force the door open and stormed off in a rage.
Wu Juan was still in a daze, not understanding what had just happened. She scrambled to her feet and finally saw Mr. Tang inside the room.
"You!" Wu Juan’s mind went blank. "What are you doing here? What are you doing here! You idiot!"
Mr. Tang, still standing there, shot a look at Li Yang. "It was him! He did this on purpose!"
Li Yang chuckled and stepped brazenly between them. "Oh, right, stepmom. What was that you were saying earlier? That I’m just a ’small farmer’ who couldn’t possibly make you regret anything? Tsk, tsk... now that the cat’s out of the bag about your affair, I’d love to see what you’ll do."
"You peasant! I’ll kill you!" Wu Juan snarled, gritting her teeth.
But Li Yang just gave a triumphant smirk and promptly left.
’This really had nothing to do with me, but you just had to pick a fight. Well, how do you like me now?’
Feeling refreshed and invigorated, he returned to Zhao Xuechu’s private room to find she was still waiting for him.
"What was all that commotion outside?" Zhao Xuechu asked.
"Oh, nothing much. Just a classic domestic soap opera," Li Yang said with a sly grin.
"Mr. Li, now that we’re partners, we should probably outline each of our responsibilities," Zhao Xuechu proposed.
"Of course!"
"I’ll handle the company’s operations. You’ll provide the medicinal herbs and the herbal cuisine recipes, as well as help us improve the quality of the dishes..."
"I have no problem with the last two points, but you still have to pay for the herbs," Li Yang said, shaking his head.
Zhao Xuechu was getting annoyed. "Mr. Li, you’re walking away with a forty-percent stake in my company without spending a single penny, and you can’t even cover the cost of the herbs?"
"Boss Zhong!" Li Yang didn’t even bother to negotiate, he just called out.
Zhao Xuechu felt like she was about to cough up blood from sheer frustration. Defeated, she could only say, "Fine, fine, fine! I’ll buy them! But you’d better give me your best quality goods!"
"No problem!" Li Yang grinned. "Then we’ll call it a deal."
Once everything was settled, they immediately signed the share transfer agreement.
Li Yang’s forty-percent stake was officially in his hands.
They had just finished signing when Boss Zhong pushed the door open. She took in the scene, understood what had happened, and said with a hint of regret, "Mr. Li, are you sure you won’t reconsider partnering with us?"
Zhao Xuechu, now confident in her victory, said nonchalantly, "It’s not as if Boss Zhong has the means to keep him anyway. Alright, I’m heading back to the company. Take your time and finish your meal. And get me those herbal cuisine recipes in the next couple of days."
"No problem!"
The moment Zhao Xuechu left, Li Yang asked, "So, what happened to those people who were causing a scene earlier?"
"What on earth happened?" Boss Zhong’s inner gossip was burning to know. She asked eagerly, "What was that all about? How did things blow up like that? Was it an affair or something?"
Li Yang grinned slyly and gestured toward her chest. "I don’t know about any affairs, but I do know you’re having a bit of a wardrobe malfunction."
"Oh, it’s fine..." Boss Zhong was completely unfazed. "If you like the view, I can pull it down a little lower."
"No, thanks!" Li Yang stood up. "I’m afraid you wouldn’t be able to handle me. Anyway, Boss Zhong, thank you for your generous hospitality. I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll be going now."
"Hey, but what about our partnership..." Watching Li Yang leave, Boss Zhong wore a look of pouting disappointment.
After leaving the restaurant, Li Yang thought for a moment before calling Qin Susu. "So, uh... I might have just accidentally destroyed your family."
"What?" Qin Susu was completely baffled.
"Just giving you a heads-up. Your younger brother and sister... they might be your stepmom’s kids with another man. And your dad may have just found out. So... all hell is about to break loose at your house. I won’t say any more. You figure out how to handle it." With that, Li Yang hung up.
’Qin Susu, you can’t blame me for this. It was your stepmother who started it by insulting me. I’ve got a temper too, you know.’
’Besides, those two kids look way too much like that other guy. Otherwise, your dad wouldn’t have realized he was a cuckold after just one glance.’
Thinking of this, Li Yang shuddered. ’Qin Gang... raising another man’s children for over a decade. He must be feeling just great right now.’
Not daring to dwell on it, Li Yang drove back to the village.
It was just after three in the afternoon by the time he returned to the village.
It wasn’t long before the supplier delivering the chicks arrived.
One thousand healthy little chicks were delivered to the area behind Zhou Liyun’s house, officially kicking off the chicken farming venture.
"Boss, what about my liquor?" the supplier asked anxiously after he finished unloading the chicks.
"Here you go." Li Yang handed him a half-full mineral water bottle. "Don’t drink too much of it at once. Just a small sip at a time is all you need."
"Great, great, great!" The supplier accepted it gleefully. "If you need another delivery, just give me a call! Don’t you hesitate."
Li Yang simply smiled and nodded.
As evening fell, the villagers who had gone into the mountains to dig for herbs returned.
After dropping off the herbs they had gathered, many of them made their way to the front of Li Yang’s courtyard.
Li Yang was prepared. He took out his ledger and began to pay them.
"Uncle Min, come on over. Here are the herbs you brought me. Take a look, this is the price I’ve set. For yesterday’s haul, that’s two hundred and twenty-five yuan!"
Over two hundred!
Li Min’s eyes lit up.
The others were all overjoyed.
