The Supreme Village Doctor
Chapter 363 - 364: Soaring Ratings
Chapter 363: Chapter 364: Soaring Ratings
The old man paused, stunned.
"Dad, you were so agile when you were young, and you still are," his son said with a smile. "I looked at the registration form they posted online, and it looks like they might be filming next week. Why don’t we sign up? If we actually get picked, we can go together, father and son. Oh, and let’s bring my kid, Mom, and my wife. It’s been ages since we all went out to have fun together. I checked it out, and the place looks really fun."
"Sounds great!" His father was delighted. "You’re not busy anymore?"
A pang of sorrow struck the son. "What would I be busy with? I have weekends off."
"What about your father-in-law...?"
"It’s fine. He has his son to keep him company. If he wants to come, we can all go together."
"Deal!" his father said happily.
Similar scenes were playing out in other homes.
"Mom, we can’t participate in the game, but we can go be in the audience. I can take you out for some fun at the same time."
"Honey, the scenery there is beautiful! I’m so exhausted from taking care of our child every day. Please take me to Taohua Village this weekend. It’s not that far, so it won’t be too tiring!"
...
Meanwhile, on the city’s largest online forum, tonight’s show had already generated a huge buzz, and everyone was talking about it.
"I’ve been searching for a place just like this for so long; I can’t believe it’s real! The show is pretty good, but that location is absolutely gorgeous!"
"Totally! I’ve already made a reservation for next Saturday. I’m going!"
"Next Saturday? I’m going tomorrow!"
...
People from the TV station were also monitoring the forums.
Seeing so many posts, Director Song breathed a sigh of relief. The ratings hadn’t come out yet, but the feedback looked promising.
Their programs had never made much of a splash on the local forums before. When had they ever generated this much buzz?
This meant that people were generally pleased with the show.
At this thought, Director Song’s confidence soared.
"Director, should we start working on the next episode?" the person in charge asked Director Song. "I’ve been looking at the forums too, and the reviews all seem to be positive. Even though the official ratings aren’t out yet... they should be good."
"Let’s not get ahead of ourselves," Director Song said in a measured tone. "We’ll wait for the ratings to come out and then assess the situation. Everyone’s been working hard and is tired. Go home and get some rest. By the time you’re well-rested, the ratings will be in, and we’ll have a clear idea of what to do next."
The person in charge gave a wry smile and nodded.
First thing the next morning, Director Song rushed to the office.
She had already received messages on her way.
But she didn’t dare to look at them!
After parking her car and walking back into the station, she found that nearly all the employees had already arrived, earlier than usual.
They had never been this eager before.
Everyone knew that the station’s future was riding on this.
Director Song took a deep breath, pulled out her phone, and said, "I just received the data. Since everyone’s here, let’s look at it together."
With that, Director Song pulled up the data spreadsheet on her phone.
The moment she saw the numbers, she froze.
"Director, what is it?" Seeing Director Song standing there, speechless and dumbfounded, everyone grew anxious and pressed her for an answer.
"This..." Director Song held out the phone for them to see.
The show’s producer snatched the phone first. The moment he saw the screen, he let out a yell, "Oh my God, the ratings are this high!"
"Let me see, let me see!"
Hearing this, the others all surged forward, crowding around to get a look.
In an instant, the entire station erupted.
It was the highest-rated program in the station’s history, with ratings triple that of their second-best show!
"Well?" the producer asked excitedly. "Can we start planning the next episode now?"
"Go for it!" Director Song said with a grin. "And sponsors! Get us sponsors! They didn’t want to invest before, but now that our ratings are out, let’s see how eager they are to invest!"
"Yes!"
...
After composing herself, Director Song gave Li Yang a call.
"Director Song, how did it go?" Li Yang asked, his voice still laced with worry.
"You are truly my lucky star!" Director Song’s boisterous laughter suddenly erupted from the other end of the line. "The ratings were incredible, far beyond our wildest expectations! It was fantastic... We’ll be back to film again next weekend."
"That’s wonderful!" Li Yang roared with laughter.
"As a show of our gratitude, we’re going to highlight our partnership with your village in the upcoming episodes. We hope it will help you all out."
"Thank you so much!"
"Don’t mention it. If it wasn’t for you, I doubt this show would’ve ever gotten off the ground. Anyway, I’ll let you go for now!"
"You bet!" Li Yang was grinning from ear to ear.
At the same time, the Cold Lake Ice Spring stores in the city were also unusually busy today.
Ren Jing was just about to leave for a business meeting when the client called her directly. "Manager Ren, your company, Cold Lake Ice Spring, is the one sponsoring that water obstacle course show, right? Alright, no more discussion needed. Just come on over, and we’ll sign the contract immediately!"
"Great!"
