The Supreme Village Doctor
Chapter 315: Going to Chaling
Chapter 315 -316: Going to Chaling
Watching Li Yang walk out, Gao Xin Xue was actually filled with regret.
‘What am I doing? How did I scare him away?’
‘I…’
Gao Xin Xue felt awful, especially after seeing Li Yang’s reaction. He had clearly been startled.
‘I can’t really blame Li Yang for this. It’s my fault for always teasing him like that. That’s why he reacted the way he did.’
The more she thought about it, the worse she felt, so she quickly went out after him.
By then, Li Yang had already gone into the room to change his clothes.
Gao Xin Xue pushed the door open and went in.
“Sister Gao, is something wrong?” Li Yang turned his head to look at her.
Gao Xin Xue suddenly stepped forward and threw her arms around Li Yang.
Before Li Yang could even react, her passionate red lips were already pressed against his.
Li Yang felt his mind go completely blank.
“Don’t move…” But soon, Gao Xin Xue was telling him to stay still as she knelt down.
…
At seven in the morning, the village slowly began to stir with life.
Li Yang drove over to Zhong Lin’s residence.
Zhong Lin was already prepared and got in the car.
“Is this truck of yours going to make it?” Zhong Lin sounded a little exasperated. Li Yang was a boss, after all, yet he seemed to get a real kick out of driving his little pickup everywhere.
“Of course it will!” Li Yang said with a chuckle. “This thing can carry stuff in the back. If we end up buying a lot, we can just load it up back there. How great is that?”
“Alright, alright…” Zhong Lin nodded. “We’re going to Chaling. You drive, I’ll sleep.”
“Deal!”
Chaling was really just a small city, with an urban population of perhaps only four or five hundred thousand. However, a great many people traveled there to purchase medicinal herbs, coming from all over the country.
It made sense, as the area was perfectly suited for growing medicinal herbs. That was why so many people traveled from far and wide to this small city.
As a result, the small city’s economy was not bad at all; on the contrary, it was quite prosperous.
By the time they arrived, it was already around four in the afternoon.
They hastily found a hotel, parked the truck, and took showers. Only then did the two of them finally start to feel human again.
“Mr. Zhong, what’s the plan now?” Li Yang asked. “Are we going to go find people directly, or something else?”
“No rush!” Zhong Lin said with a smile. “It’s not every day we get to come to Chaling, so I’d like to look around a bit. We’re in no hurry to buy the seeds; I can take my time and choose carefully. I also have some old friends here I’d like to meet up with first. By the way, you can go have a look around on your own.”
That suited Li Yang just fine. After all, he had other business to attend to here.
“Alright, then let’s split up. I have some other things to take care of as well. Just give me a call if you need anything, sound good?”
“Will do!”
After dinner, the two went their separate ways to handle their own affairs. ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Li Yang took out the phone number Manager Zhang had given him and dialed.
“Yeah, who is this?” The voice on the other end was somewhat muffled by background noise.
“Is this Boss Zhou Jianlin?”
“Speaking. And you are?”
“My name is Chen Yang, and I purchase medicinal herbs,” Li Yang said, using a fake name. “I heard you have Wiregrass for sale. Is that correct?”
“How did you know that?” Zhou Jianlin paused for a moment. “I do have Wiregrass for sale here. Who referred you?”
“You don’t need to worry about who it was. Let’s just say a friend referred me. I’m in the market for this particular herb. How about I come to your shop?”
“Don’t bother coming!” Zhou Jianlin said with some displeasure. “If you’re looking to buy Wiregrass, I’m fresh out.”
“Huh?” Li Yang was taken aback. “How can you be out? I heard you’re the only place in all of Chaling that sells Wiregrass.”
“I was, but not anymore!” Zhou Jianlin’s voice was clearly irritated. “Those damn herb gatherers who supply the Wiregrass won’t work with me anymore. A bunch of scoundrels!”
‘They stopped working with him!’
Li Yang felt a pang of disappointment, but then he had an idea. ‘It doesn’t matter if they won’t work with him. I can just find those gatherers myself, right?’
“Boss Zhou, how about this? I’ll come over to your place so we can talk a little more.”
After saying that, Li Yang hung up and rushed over to Boss Zhou’s shop as quickly as he could.
Boss Zhou’s shop was located on the side of the street; it served as both a storefront and a warehouse.
The moment he stepped inside, he could smell the complex aroma of various medicinal herbs.
“Boss Zhou…” Li Yang called out from the entrance.
A moment later, Zhou Jianlin came out from the back.
“Who are you looking for?”
“It’s me, Chen Yang! I’m the one who just called,” Li Yang said with a smile, introducing himself.
“Oh, you…” Zhou Jianlin didn’t seem very interested. Seeing Li Yang’s simple attire, he figured he couldn’t be a major client, so his demeanor was naturally less than enthusiastic. “It’s no use looking for me. I can’t get my hands on any Wiregrass right now.”
“Boss Zhou, what happened?” Li Yang asked. “I heard you’ve always worked with them. How come you can’t get a supply anymore?”
“How the hell should I know!” Zhou Jianlin cursed. “I have no idea what’s gotten into those scoundrels, but they just won’t work with me anymore. Nothing I say makes a difference. It’s driving me crazy.”
At this, Zhou Jianlin added, “I have long-term partners who rely on this. Wiregrass is rare and has special effects for certain illnesses. Now that the supply is cut off, my losses are pretty significant too.”
