The Supreme Village Doctor
Chapter 293: Stepping In to Save a Life
Chapter 293 -294: Stepping In to Save a Life
Faced with the man’s fury, everyone fell silent, not daring to speak.
“I’ve brought the Divine Doctor!” Just then, He Zinan walked over with Li Yang.
“Zi Nan, who is he?” someone immediately shot to their feet, glaring hostilely at Li Yang.
“He saved my life,” He Zinan said earnestly. “You might not know who he is, but he’s the one who cured my poisoning.”
Everyone was shocked.
He Zinan had been poisoned for years, trapped in a state between life and death. Countless famous doctors had been consulted, but all to no avail. Then there was a rumor that a giant snake’s gallbladder could cure her. They had indeed gone looking for one, but never found it.
After that, they simply heard that He Zinan had recovered. As for how exactly she got better, no one knew.
‘To think this young man was the one who saved He Zinan.’
“Miss He, you’re not mistaken, are you?” the old man asked, raising an eyebrow at Li Yang. He looked him up and down, his face a mask of disbelief. “He cured your poison?”
He Zinan nodded. “Dr. Tu, it was indeed him who cured my poison.”
“Ridiculous!” Dr. Tu exclaimed, his face etched with disbelief. “He’s so young. How could he possibly have cured your poison? I spent so long on it without success. How could it have been him?”
He Zinan didn’t know how to respond. She could only say, “Dr. Tu, I naturally have faith in your medical skills. But he truly was the one who cured my poison last time. That’s why I brought him here today, hoping he could help my father.”
“Forget it!” Dr. Tu said without a second thought. “If you really want your father to die sooner, then by all means, let him try. But let me warn you, this poison is extremely strange. If you add anything to it that doesn’t work, it could even make things worse. You’d better think this through.”
He Zinan’s expression faltered.
‘She knew her father’s poison was tricky, but she hadn’t realized it was this severe.’
“That’s right, Zi Nan. I think we should find another way to deal with Godfather’s poison. Don’t let him touch him. If something happens to Godfather, what will we do?” a young man said, standing up to face He Zinan.
The others nodded in agreement, most of them against letting Li Yang attempt the treatment.
He Zinan’s expression turned grim as she looked toward Li Yang.
“Let me see the patient first,” Li Yang said, not angry in the least, his voice calm.
“Right, right, let’s see the patient first!” He Zinan finally snapped out of it and quickly led Li Yang inside.
Dr. Tu was clearly displeased, but in the end, he just followed them inside.
Li Yang took one look after entering and immediately understood the situation.
‘He was also a little surprised. This poison was far more potent than the one that had afflicted He Zinan.’
“This is Red Ming Seed Poison,” Li Yang stated, instantly naming it.
But none of the listeners reacted, because they had no idea what that was.
“Dr. Tu has never heard of it?” Li Yang asked with a smile.
Questioned like this by Li Yang, Dr. Tu flew into a rage out of sheer embarrassment. “How would we know if you just made up some poison name? How are we supposed to know about some poison you just pulled out of thin air?”
“Pulled out of thin air?” Li Yang just smiled and shook his head. “I assure you, I’m not making this up. Let me put it this way: this poison is indeed very rare. It’s extracted from a creature called the Red Ming Centipede, and it is incredibly toxic. The fact that Mr. He is still alive is a miracle. By my guess, he’s been poisoned for three days, correct?”
The others were startled. That was indeed correct.
“Let me cure the poison,” Li Yang said, wasting no more words as he took out his silver needles.
“Hold on!” Dr. Tu interjected, stopping him. “Let’s get something straight. What do you mean, *you’ll* cure the poison? I’ve been the one in charge of his treatment this whole time. If you try to cure Mr. He and something goes wrong, what then?”
“I’ll take full responsibility,” Li Yang said directly. “This poison may be incurable in your eyes, but not in mine. In fact… it’s actually quite easy to cure.”
“Ridiculous!” Dr. Tu felt slighted and roared, “Such arrogance! ‘Quite easy to cure,’ you say? If you can really cure it, then go on, show us!”
“Of course.” Li Yang wanted to show this guy what he was made of, so he immediately began applying the needles. “Watch closely!”
With that, Li Yang began the acupuncture.
In Li Yang’s hands, the needles moved as if they were toys. His technique was so natural and beautiful it looked like he was embroidering.
Even though Dr. Tu didn’t believe Li Yang could cure the man, he was stunned for a moment upon seeing such a technique, a look of utter disbelief on his face.
‘It seems that, whatever else you could say about this guy, he really did have some skill when it came to his Acupuncture Technique.’
“He’s just putting on a show!” a man sneered.
But just then, Mr. He, who had been lying motionless on the bed, suddenly sat up. With a great retch, he spewed a large mouthful of black blood.
Instantly, a foul stench filled the air.
The others pinched their noses, rendered speechless.
“How dare you! You’ve killed Godfather!” a man roared.
