The Supreme Village Doctor
Chapter 290 - 291: Director Xu’s Arrival
Chapter 290: Chapter 291: Director Xu’s Arrival
Anyone else would have been terrified to hear something like that.
But to their surprise, Li Yang remained lying there and simply grunted, "Got it."
’Got it?’
Qian Youli was a little stunned. ’What’s that supposed to mean? It sounds like you’re not taking us seriously at all, are you?’
"That’s it?" Qian Youli was getting angry. This was a clear sign of disrespect. "Do you have any idea what this is?"
Li Yang finally sat up straight. Looking at Qian Youli, he said, "Director Qian, do *you* know what a frame-up is?"
Qian Youli flinched, then said angrily, "Li Yang, I’m warning you. Watch what you say."
Li Yang grinned and shook his head. "I don’t know what it means to ’watch what I say,’ but I do know that you’re framing me. I’m not wrong about that, am I?"
Qian Youli stared at him coldly. "Everything we’re doing is based on factual evidence..."
Li Yang just smiled and said nothing more.
Over on the side, Zhang Qian spoke up. "Boss Li, we’re all businessmen here. Why let things get so ugly? How about this: I’ll step in and vouch for you with Director Qian. I guarantee I can help you resolve this. Our company has a lot of experience with cultivation. We can definitely help you..."
"Get lost!" Li Yang cut him off before he could even finish.
Zhang Qian’s face darkened, and he dropped the pretense. "Li Yang, do you know that people as arrogant as you tend to get beaten up? Let me tell you, if you keep this up, you’ll soon have nothing left here. Then we’ll see how you plant and sell your vegetables."
"Is that so?" Li Yang chuckled. "I find that hard to believe."
"You..." Zhang Qian was so angry he was speechless.
Young Master Jin stood up. "You were given a chance and you spat on it. Director Qian, this matter has nothing to do with us anymore. Do what you need to do."
Qian Youli understood completely. He sneered, "Don’t worry. I’ll make sure he learns the meaning of regret."
But just then, a booming voice suddenly rang out, "And who is it that’s going to make him learn the meaning of regret?"
Everyone froze, their heads swiveling involuntarily toward the source of the voice.
Director Xu had arrived, accompanied by several other people.
"Li Yang!" After entering, Director Xu didn’t even glance at the others. His eyes were fixed on Li Yang as he said earnestly, "In light of your outstanding contributions to our Ningzhou, I am here to present you with a certificate of commendation and a bonus."
With that, Director Xu took out the certificate.
The moment everyone saw it, their expressions changed.
"This is from the mayor of Ningzhou City!" Director Xu added.
He then revealed a small medal.
Li Yang hadn’t expected to receive such things and felt a little embarrassed. "Director Xu, isn’t this a bit much?"
"Much?" Director Xu laughed heartily. "Do you have any idea how much in losses you saved us? This is nothing! I’d say it’s not nearly enough..."
As he spoke, Director Xu looked over at Zhang Qian and the others. He turned back to Li Yang and said, "I heard you’ve run into some trouble recently, is that right?"
Li Yang nodded.
"You must be Qian Youli, Director Qian, correct?" Director Xu said, turning to him. "I never would have thought... Instead of doing your job properly, you decided to become someone’s lackey."
"You... Who are you?" Qian Youli didn’t recognize Director Xu.
Director Xu sneered. "Who I am isn’t important. But you should know Director Tan from your city, shouldn’t you?"
The color drained from Qian Youli’s face.
Director Tan.
There was only one in their city—his own direct superior.
He had handled this matter privately, without alerting Director Tan.
And since he had fabricated evidence, he wasn’t actually that afraid. ’So what if Director Tan finds out? I have proof,’ he thought.
"Here, why don’t you explain it to Director Tan..." Director Xu dialed a number and held the phone out to Qian Youli.
Qian Youli flinched but took the phone.
"Qian Youli, look at what you’ve done!" Director Tan’s furious voice erupted from the other end.
A jolt went through Qian Youli’s heart. He scrambled to explain, "Director Tan, don’t listen to him! Our tests detected a problem..."
"A problem?" Hearing this, Director Tan slammed his desk. "You have the nerve to talk to me about a problem? Did you or did you not tamper with the results? Don’t think for a second I don’t know what’s going on! I ran spot checks on ten samples myself, and not a single one had an issue. So how is it that a problem suddenly appeared when *you* ran the tests?"
What!
Qian Youli never imagined Director Tan had already gotten involved. He was dumbfounded and, at the same time, terrified. "Director Tan, this... this might have been an oversight by our staff..."
"An oversight?" Director Tan laughed. "You’re quick to pass the buck, aren’t you? The staff’s oversight? Why don’t you just say it was *your* oversight? I’m officially informing you that you no longer work for this department. Furthermore, I’m launching an investigation into your illegal activities. If I find anything, I’ll make sure you go to prison."
"Director Tan..." Qian Youli nearly fainted.
