Chapter 281: Chapter 282: The Herb Shop Owner’s Request
Sister Zhi understood and chuckled.
"You rascal. You just love to get the upper hand with your words, don’t you?"
In the two days she had known Li Yang, she had figured him out. He loved to sweet-talk and gain the upper hand verbally.
Li Yang chuckled. "Congratulations, Sister Zhi. I guess this is your official comeback to the modeling world."
Sister Zhi looked at Li Yang. "You really do have a few tricks up your sleeve. I’m the one who should be thanking you."
"No, no..." Li Yang said with a grin. "I got what I wanted out of this, too. I mean, didn’t I just land an interview with a magazine for our village? When they interview you, make sure to praise our village. Tell them you came here to rest and recuperate when you were feeling down. And don’t forget to mention our beautiful scenery."
Sister Zhi chuckled again. "You really don’t let a single opportunity to promote your village slip by, do you? Fine, fine. I’ll make sure to say a few good things for them."
"Thanks a million!" Li Yang laughed. "Alright, consider it done."
Having settled that matter, Li Yang was in a good mood. "By the way, how are we going to make money now?"
Bai Zhi gave him a strange look. "Are you in that much of a hurry to make money?"
"Of course!" Li Yang’s expression turned grim. "To be honest, that road in my village is my main focus. But all this time, I still haven’t earned enough to even start construction. What am I supposed to do? All I can think about is making money... a lot of money, so I can get that road built. Speaking of which, can a modeling agency start making money quickly?"
Seeing his money-obsessed expression, Bai Zhi felt a bit exasperated. She shook her head. "It’s not that easy to make money. You make it sound so simple."
Li Yang gave a hollow laugh. ’It’s not that I think it’s easy, it’s that I desperately need the money.’
"If you’re really in a bind, I can lend you some money." Bai Zhi had a good impression of Li Yang and was willing to help.
"No, that’s alright..." Li Yang naturally refused.
’Bai Zhi had been through her own troubles, and now she had to start a company. How could she have any spare cash for me?’
Li Yang might like to tease, but he would never stoop to being a freeloader.
Besides, it would leave a bad taste in his mouth.
"Alright, then..." Li Yang thought for a moment before continuing, "You should go back and practice your runway walk, and also work on setting up the company. Let me know if you need anything. Of course, I hope the next time you call me is to give me my dividend."
Bai Zhi gave a wry smile.
"Where are you off to?"
"I’m going to go figure out how to make some money..." Li Yang said, his face a mask of worry. "I’m stressing out about it."
"Alright. The people from Yizu Magazine might come over in a couple of days. I’ll contact you then."
Li Yang nodded, got in his car, and drove off.
’Damn it, why is making money so hard?’
’Do I really have to rely on my medical skills to earn the big bucks?’
The money he was making every day wasn’t a small amount, but it was still a far cry from the millions he needed.
Li Yang couldn’t help but feel a sense of resignation.
’I really underestimated how hard it is to make money!’
Just then, however, his phone rang.
It was the boss who bought his medicinal herbs.
Li Yang hardly managed the herb business anymore; the villagers were handling the collections for him.
"Boss, what’s up?" Li Yang asked. "Is there something I can help you with?"
"Yes, yes!" the boss said cheerfully. "The herbs from your village are excellent! My clients are all very satisfied. In fact, I’ve even landed some major long-term clients because of them."
"That’s great news, isn’t it?" Li Yang was pleased to hear it.
"Just the other day, one of them asked if we produce ginseng. They said their ginseng sells really well, and if it’s wild and aged, it’s even more expensive. So I wanted to ask, do you guys have any wild ginseng to harvest over there? If you do, you could make a fortune."
’Wild ginseng?’
Li Yang paused for a second, then shook his head. "If we had any wild ginseng, I’d be the first to know..."
The boss chuckled drily. True enough, everyone knew how valuable that stuff was.
"I think you should go look for some..." the boss pressed, not giving up. "All the other herbs from your area are such high quality. How do you know there isn’t any wild ginseng? There might be. You should give it a shot."
Li Yang thought for a moment. "Alright, I get the picture. I’ll go back and have a look."
"You should!" the boss said earnestly. "Wild ginseng is scarce everywhere these days. If you can find one that’s fifty years old, it would be worth hundreds of thousands, at least. If you could find a hundred-year-old one, that would be a real treasure. Two or three million would be easy."
’Two or three million?’
Li Yang’s heart skipped a beat.
"Alright, I get it!" The thought spurred him on. "I’ll go back and take a good look. If I find any wild ginseng, I’ll give you a call."
"Great, great, great!" The boss hung up, clearly pleased.
Just as he hung up, his phone rang again. Surprisingly, it was Zhao Xuechu.
"Mr. Li, it’s about the medicine for Zhenzhen..." Zhao Xuechu said hesitantly.
"Ah, my apologies..." Li Yang said, embarrassed. "I’ve been incredibly busy lately. How about this? I’ll go look for it right away and see if I can find it."
"Okay, thank you so much!"
