Chapter 274: Chapter 275: Cure Him

Bai Zhi froze for a moment, then quickly shook her head. "You can forget that idea. The man in charge is Mr. Yu, the event’s organizer, but he almost never gets involved in matters like this."

"How will we know if we don’t try?" Li Yang said calmly. "Come on, let’s go up and find him."

Bai Zhi hesitated.

"After everything they’ve put you through..." Li Yang said bluntly. "What is there to be embarrassed about?"

Bai Zhi realized he was right. ’After what Director Liang said, all the dignity I tried so hard to protect is gone. What’s there to be afraid of now?’

"Let’s go!" she said, gritting her teeth. "I’m going to see just how much face I have left."

Li Yang smiled. "When we get there, let me do the talking."

Bai Zhi shook her head. ’If I can’t even get through to them, what chance do you have? They don’t even know who you are.’

Li Yang could tell from her expression that she had no confidence in him, but that was fine. The only thing that mattered right now was closing the deal.

They went straight upstairs and found Mr. Yu’s office.

Bai Zhi pushed the door open and went inside.

A man in his fifties was sitting inside. He paused when he saw Bai Zhi enter, then broke into a smile. "Well, if it isn’t our Miss Bai. To what do I owe the pleasure? Come in, have a seat!"

Having worked with her company many times before, Mr. Yu recognized Bai Zhi.

"Mr. Yu, I apologize for the intrusion." His warm welcome gave Bai Zhi a small boost of confidence, and she stepped forward with a smile.

"Not at all!" Mr. Yu laughed. "What can I do for you?"

"Well..." Bai Zhi began. "Regarding our collaboration with your company... Director Liang told me it’s been canceled. I came to discuss it with you."

Mr. Yu mulled it over for a second before speaking. "Actually, Xiaoliang mentioned this to me yesterday. As you know, I always leave these matters to him. I prefer not to get involved, right?"

The words caught in Bai Zhi’s throat.

’So, Mr. Yu isn’t going to give me any face either.’

"Miss Bai, perhaps we can work together some other time?" Mr. Yu said with a smile.

’Some other time’... That basically meant ’never again.’

Bai Zhi forced a bitter smile.

But just then, Li Yang suddenly spoke up. "Mr. Yu, there might not be a chance to work together next time."

Mr. Yu’s eyebrows shot up. ’I’m trying to let you save face, and this is how you act? You don’t even want that?’

He glanced at Li Yang and said coolly, "I don’t believe it’s your place to speak here. Miss Bai, is he with you?"

Just as Bai Zhi was about to explain, Li Yang spoke again. "Mr. Yu, you have a terminal illness. When I said there might not be another chance to work together, I meant that even if our companies do collaborate in the future, you won’t be here to see it."

Mr. Yu’s face turned pale. He pointed a finger at Li Yang. "You..."

"It’s your heart, isn’t it?" Li Yang glanced at him again. "You’ve had bypass surgery before, but it’s failing again. I don’t know what your doctor told you—if you should have another one or something else. But judging by your current condition, I’m guessing you won’t survive it. The success rate for your next surgery won’t be higher than twenty percent."

Mr. Yu could no longer stand. He collapsed onto the sofa with a THUD, his entire body trembling.

Bai Zhi was dumbfounded. ’Li Yang was right?’

"I..." Mr. Yu finally said, his voice bitter. "You’re right. The doctor said... the success rate for another surgery is no higher than twenty percent... But I have no choice. I have to have the surgery again, otherwise, all I can do is wait to die."

"Well, now you have an opportunity," Li Yang said earnestly. "I can cure your condition, and you won’t need artificial stents in the future. But I have one requirement: you have to agree to work with our company."

"You can cure me?" Mr. Yu looked at Li Yang, finding it hard to believe.

"Of course," Li Yang said calmly. "I can cure you, and you won’t need stents ever again."

"You..." Mr. Yu stared at Li Yang in disbelief. ’This... it sounds too good to be true.’

"Want to give it a try?" Li Yang smiled. "The choice is yours. If you want to try, I’ll treat you. If it works, you keep your promise. If it doesn’t, we can pretend this conversation never happened. Most importantly, my method doesn’t involve surgery or medication. All it takes is acupuncture, and it’s completely safe. So, what do you say?"

"I’ll try!" A person facing a terminal diagnosis will grasp at even the slimmest of chances. He answered immediately, "I’m willing to try."

"Good." Li Yang wasn’t surprised in the least. "Alright then. Lie down on the sofa, and I’ll give you the acupuncture treatment."

Mr. Yu lay down on the sofa.

’Li Yang knew my condition with just a single glance. He must be an incredibly skilled doctor; otherwise, that would be impossible.’

’That’s right. I’ll give him a chance... and give myself one, too.’
