Chapter 249: Chapter 250: The Troublemaker
"Other than the money for this batch of pheasants, the rest is a deposit!" Li Yang explained with a smile. "I know you’re short on cash right now. Let’s not worry about other things—just pay off that hundred-thousand-yuan loan first. That way, you can focus on raising the birds without any worries, and my supply will be more stable, right?"
Looking at the money, Boss Zeng’s heart skipped a beat. "You don’t have a crush on me, do you?"
Li Yang almost coughed up a lung. ’What the hell... is going on?’
’I just gave you a little extra money, and this is what you think of me?’
Li Yang couldn’t help but shake his head. ’I really can’t figure out how these people’s minds work.’
Seeing Li Yang’s reaction, Boss Zeng giggled. "Alright, then you have my thanks."
Just as she spoke, the sound of a car pulled up outside. The two men from yesterday were back.
Brother Cong got out of the car with a cold sneer. ’Damn it, this bitch. Let’s see how you’re going to explain yourself today. When you can’t pay up, don’t you dare blame me.’
He strode forward, glanced at them with a smirk, and then said, "Boss Zeng, today’s the day to pay up, isn’t it? Hand over the money."
"Fine!" Before, Boss Zeng would have panicked, but now she wasn’t flustered at all. Instead, she took out her phone and quickly made the transfer.
"Done!" Boss Zeng said after finishing the transfer.
Brother Cong and his companion were dumbfounded. ’She has the money so quickly?’
’Does she take me for a fool?!’
Just as he was about to say something, he heard a DING. It seemed one of their phones had chimed.
Brother Cong checked his phone and his jaw dropped.
It was true. Boss Zeng had really repaid the one hundred thousand yuan.
"You can leave now, right?" Boss Zeng felt a sense of satisfaction seeing his dumbfounded expression. ’You bastard, you thought you could use this to threaten me? As if!’
"You..." Brother Cong was speechless. He pointed at them and said, "Fine. You’re good. Pulling a stunt like this on me... Fine. Just you wait."
After that, he was too ashamed to stay any longer.
The two of them quickly drove away.
Li Yang smiled. "Feeling better now?"
Boss Zeng looked at him, her eyes crinkling with a smile. "Alright, I owe you one for this. My pheasants are healthy now, so things will be easier. By the way, let me treat you to a meal."
Li Yang didn’t mind. They had to continue doing business in the future, so it was a good idea to build a better rapport.
’Besides, Boss Zeng is so beautiful.’
Soon, Boss Zeng brought Li Yang to a restaurant in town.
"Do you know how much one of our pheasants sells for here?" Boss Zeng asked with a smile.
Li Yang shook his head.
The owner, a woman who looked to be around thirty, came over when she saw them. "Zeng Qing, I heard your pheasant farm had an outbreak of bird flu, is that right?"
"We did, but they’re all better now!" Zeng Qing said with a smile.
"Really?" The owner’s eyes lit up. "You’d better not be lying to me."
"I wouldn’t lie to you!" Zeng Qing said. "How could I dare lie about something so important? I can’t just say my birds are fine, sell them to you, have you serve them to customers, and end up making them sick, can I?"
"Right, right, right..." The proprietress finally breathed a sigh of relief. "What would you like to eat?"
"Your house specials. Oh, and do you still have any of the previous pheasants? Bring one out for us."
"Alright!"
The proprietress quickly departed.
"I sell them here for three hundred fifty a bird," Zeng Qing spoke up again. "They sell them for at least six hundred yuan each. Just think about it."
Li Yang was taken aback. ’This stuff really is expensive.’
’Looks like I didn’t choose the wrong path after all.’
"So you were right to think about raising pheasants," Zeng Qing said with a smile. "I think there’s still a market for them. Of course, the key is to not have an epidemic like I did, otherwise it would be a disaster."
As she said this, she still felt a lingering fear.
Li Yang nodded. "It won’t come to that."
Upon reflection, Zeng Qing had to agree.
Just then, a loud shout erupted from across the room, followed by the CRASH of a shattering plate. "What is this crap? It tastes awful! Is this how you run a business?"
The sudden noise made everyone jump.
The two of them looked over and saw a table of several middle-aged men. The one who had thrown the plate was bald, and he was now standing and yelling angrily, "Is this even food you’re serving? It’s disgusting! I have no idea how you have the nerve to even run a restaurant. Make me another one right now!"
The proprietress came out, her face pale. "Sir, we’ve already remade it for you several times. You..."
"What about it? You’re open for business. If your food is bad, can’t a customer ask for it to be remade?" the bald man shouted.
The proprietress looked upset. "You can, but you all..."
She trailed off, unable to continue.
"Then make me another one! If I’m not satisfied, I’ll smash another one of your plates!" the bald man said arrogantly.
"Looking for trouble, aren’t they?" Zeng Qing shook her head. "They’re definitely here to cause problems, deliberately coming here to sabotage someone’s business. Sigh, running a business is hard."
