The Supreme Village Doctor
Chapter 184 - 185: Aunt Lian’s Medicine is Ruined
Chapter 184: Chapter 185: Aunt Lian’s Medicine is Ruined
That evening, Li Yang personally cooked another meal for them. Although his culinary skills were nothing special, the superb quality of his ingredients couldn’t be denied. Even with his mediocre technique, the dishes he made were still incredibly delicious, earning endless praise from all three of them.
"Mommy, this is so yummy!" The little sister was focused on her bowl like a kitten. After she finished eating, she asked in a sweet, childlike voice, "Mommy, can I eat food this delicious again in the future?"
Gao Xin Xue was stunned speechless. She turned to Li Yang and said, "Now I see why you’re so confident. This food alone could bring you a lot of customers."
Li Yang let out a smug laugh. "So, feeling confident now, are you?"
Indeed, Gao Xin Xue was now brimming with confidence.
"Mom, I’ve decided I’m going to work here," Gao Xin Xue said to Aunt Gao. "You and my sister can stay in the city. She needs to go to preschool, after all, and that’s obviously not an option out here. But we’re not too far apart. When you have days off, I’ll come back to get you."
"Okay!" Aunt Gao was quite satisfied with the place. Even though it was the countryside, the scenery was truly beautiful.
Besides, her daughter was building a career here. What did she have to worry about?
"In that case, welcome aboard, Sister Gao," Li Yang said with a smile.
"Alright, we should get going. In a couple of days, once I’ve packed up and taken care of a few things in the city, I’ll bring my things over. Then I’ll officially be on the clock."
"No problem! I’ll be waiting, Sister Gao!"
...
Under the cover of night, Gao Xin Xue and her family quickly departed.
Li Yang stood there, smiling to himself like a fool, before finally heading to his small clinic.
He had just stepped inside when he saw Xia Lian walk in.
"It’s been a while since you’ve been here..." Xia Lian said, glaring at him. "You’re the village doctor, you know. Stop running off everywhere."
Li Yang sat down and asked teasingly, "Aunt Lian, is that medicine of mine still working well?"
"Like hell it is!" Xia Lian shot him a glare. "It’s not as good as a person."
Li Yang nearly fell out of his chair. ’This woman’s words are fierce,’ he thought.
"You can’t say that, Aunt Lian. At least that thing only runs out of batteries; it won’t fail to perform, right?" Li Yang chuckled. "I mean, what if you meet a guy who can’t get it up? Who surrenders after just a few moves? That’s worse than the gadget, isn’t it?"
Xia Lian was starting to regret this. ’Why did I try to get into a sparring match of words with him? He’s an old pro at this.’
"You don’t have... performance issues, do you?" Xia Lian looked at him and said, "They say doctors can’t treat themselves. If you can’t get it up, you should let me know. I can introduce you to a doctor."
"Nonsense!" Li Yang said, annoyed. "How could I possibly have a problem? I could wear you out so much you couldn’t work for two hours."
"You little brat, watch your mouth!" Xia Lian glared at him. He was really running with the metaphor, wasn’t he?
Li Yang gave a dry laugh and stole a glance at Xia Lian.
’She really is beautiful,’ he thought. ’And she has that fierce, wild vitality of a country woman—something you don’t find in city women.’
"Um..." Xia Lian, feeling a bit insecure, spoke up. "The reason I came here was, well, I wanted you to see... if that ’fire’ you mentioned last time has died down at all."
Li Yang snorted with laughter. ’I knew it. I knew Aunt Lian came to find me for a reason.’
"Ah, Aunt Lian, this is something that requires careful, long-term observation," Li Yang said, putting on a serious act.
"Don’t give me that!" Xia Lian was not so easily fooled. She shot him a glare. "Long-term observation? It’s just a matter of taking my pulse. You’re still trying to pull one over on me?"
His bluff called, Li Yang gave an embarrassed laugh.
He stepped forward, took Xia Lian’s pulse, and then nodded. "There are no major issues anymore..."
Xia Lian let out a sigh of relief. She really did feel much more at peace now.
"Do I... still need to use it often in the future?" Xia Lian asked.
Li Yang chuckled slyly. "If you don’t want to use it, that’s fine. You could always let me take its place."
Xia Lian shot him a glare. "You? Take its place? You think you can handle it?"
"You bet I can!" Li Yang puffed out his chest.
"Oh... just get lost. Could... could you help me buy another one? Mine’s already broken," Xia Lian finally said, embarrassed.
"What?" Li Yang’s jaw dropped.
Li Yang nodded. "Alright, alright. Let’s go, let’s go. We’ll go to your place so I can take a look at it."
Back at Xia Lian’s house, she brought out the item for him to see. Li Yang nodded. "I’m going to take it apart and have a look. Oh, you have a screwdriver, right? Hand it over!"
Xia Lian went and got Li Yang a screwdriver.
Under the light, Li Yang quickly took the gadget apart.
After disassembling it, Li Yang glanced inside. His eyes went wide, and he suddenly burst into roaring laughter.
