The Supreme Village Doctor
Chapter 134 - 135: Having Eyes but Failing to See
Chapter 134: Chapter 135: Having Eyes but Failing to See
After Xiao Zhen left, Li Yang departed as well. The situation was a bit odd, but it was someone else’s family affair. Li Yang couldn’t be bothered to get involved, content to have some peace and quiet.
On his way out, Li Yang gave Zhang Rong a call.
"Aunt Rong, are you free? Want to go shopping with me?" Li Yang asked with a smile.
"You little rascal, what are you up to?" Aunt Rong chuckled softly.
Hearing her laugh over the phone, Li Yang could just imagine how bewitching she looked at that moment.
’This vixen is really something else.’
"I’m building a feed factory in the village and need to buy corn in bulk," Li Yang explained. "I figure you know this area better than I do, so I was hoping you could show me around?"
"Oh, that..." Hearing it was for business, Aunt Rong immediately agreed. "Sure. As it happens, I know a few people in that line of work. I’ll take you."
"Great!" Li Yang happily drove off to pick up Aunt Rong.
As soon as Aunt Rong got in the car, she noticed a pleasant fragrance.
"Aunt Rong, you should ride in my pickup more often. That way, it won’t just smell bad all the time," Li Yang said with a perfectly straight face.
"You’re getting to be quite the smooth-talker..." Aunt Rong smiled faintly. "Enough of that. Let’s get going. Head to this address."
"You got it!"
With a beautiful woman by his side, even driving felt more invigorating.
Soon, with Aunt Rong’s guidance, Li Yang arrived at a storefront not far from the market.
The shop had a mezzanine on the second floor. As soon as Aunt Rong walked in, a portly, middle-aged man hurried out to greet her. "Well, if it isn’t little sister Rong! It’s been a while! Last I heard, you were going to buy some of our corn for a snack business, right? Then I never heard back. I’m telling you, Rong, for someone as pretty as you, the price is always negotiable."
Aunt Rong said, sounding rather impatient, "Old Lin, I decided not to open the shop, which is why I never got back to you. This is a friend of mine. He needs to buy corn for animal feed, so you two should talk. And hey, give him a good price."
"Little sister Rong, what’s there to discuss with some guy? Why don’t you and I talk instead?" Old Lin shot Li Yang a glance, completely dismissing him.
’Someone dressed like that wants to make animal feed? Yeah, right.’
’Zhang Rong is much easier on the eyes. I’d much rather talk to her.’
Li Yang frowned. ’This shopkeeper must be an idiot.’
"Ah, little sister Rong, just look at that figure..." Old Lin clucked his tongue. "I just love the way you look. Oh, by the way, weren’t you asking me about a Divine Doctor last time? I’ll have you know, I actually met one. But... you’ll have to agree to one condition."
Li Yang’s heart skipped a beat. ’So Aunt Rong really was asking everyone about a Divine Doctor back when Su Yunmeng was disfigured.’
’I can only imagine how much she must have suffered.’
’To the point where even scum like Old Lin dares to bully her.’
"Stop showing off!" Li Yang couldn’t stand it anymore and snapped at Old Lin. "You’re still running your mouth when your own kidneys are failing?"
"You... What nonsense are you spouting!" Old Lin, inwardly startled, pointed at Li Yang and cursed.
"Am I spouting nonsense?" Li Yang chuckled coldly. "You’re about forty, aren’t you? And you definitely don’t have any children, am I right?"
Old Lin’s expression changed. "You know me?"
"Know you? Hell no. I can just tell by looking. If you did have a kid, there’s only one explanation: you’re raising someone else’s."
"You..."
Zhang Rong stared at Li Yang, her face a mask of astonishment.
She wasn’t actually familiar with Old Lin. She had only contacted him when she was briefly considering opening her own shop after Su Yunmeng’s business fell through.
She knew absolutely nothing about his family situation.
"You what?" Li Yang said coldly. "If you’re disrespectful to Aunt Rong again, you can forget about ever having children. Just wait for your family line to die with you."
"Say that again!" Old Lin was both stunned and furious.
"By the way, Old Lin," Zhang Rong said seriously, "I forgot to mention, my niece is all better now. It was this very Divine Doctor Li who cured her. She doesn’t have a single scar on her body now. I think you should listen to his professional opinion. It might actually be useful for you."
What!
Old Lin stared at Li Yang in astonishment. This kid was actually a Divine Doctor.
Li Yang just chuckled coldly and watched him, saying nothing.
"Divine Doctor..." Old Lin’s face instantly switched to a fawning smile. "I was blind to not recognize your greatness. I’m so sorry. I’d like to ask... what exactly is wrong with my... my body?"
"So I was right?" Li Yang asked in return.
"Yes, yes, yes..." Old Lin nodded frantically. "You were completely right. My wife and I have been married for seventeen years, and we haven’t been able to have a single child. I... I’m terrified, you know? I want a kid, too, but nothing works. We’ve been to the hospital, and they couldn’t help. They just said I’m in poor health and need to focus on recovery. I’ve been ’recovering’ for so long, but what’s the use? I was even starting to suspect it was my wife’s fault..."
