Chapter 62: 62 Receiving the inheritance

62 Receiving the inheritance

Guo Han observed the phenomenon carefully. He finally understood the principle, but it was already too late to apply it.

He tried to repeat it, but could only stabilize it partially. However, he lost a few seconds, and the difference began to emerge. Yun Che, meanwhile, advanced.

Guo Han advanced right behind him. Neither of them was willing to give up. The two pills began to take shape.

The final stage had finally arrived. The old man slowly raised his tired hand, covered in prominent wrinkles.

"Final transformation."

The formations increased the pressure. Yun Che felt his core tremble.

[Critical instability.]

[Cultivation decline imminent.]

[Perform Dual Cultivation.]

Yun Che ignored it.

[Repeated warning.]

[Your cultivation will be reduced.]

He ignored it again. The pill began to close, and Yun Che controlled the temperature.

[Reduce by 4%.]

[Current cultivation: Tempered Body Realm, Level 8.]

He reduced it.

[Insufficient spiritual flow.]

Yun Che introduced energy, and the essence glowed. On the other side, Guo Han also reached the final transformation.

He controlled every detail with absolute precision. For several seconds, the two pills appeared identical, making Guo Han smile.

"Now we will see."

Yun Che did not answer. Then it happened. A slight fluctuation appeared inside Guo Han’s furnace, and the temperature rose.

Not by much.

Just enough. It was the previous flaw that Guo Han immediately corrected. The pill remained intact, but its perfection had disappeared.

He closed his eyes.

"What a pity."

Yun Che continued.

The System provided the final instruction.

[Final instability detected.]

[Correction required.]

[Temperature: reduce by 1.1%.]

[Spiritual flow: increase by 3%.]

[Stabilization: counterclockwise.]

Yun Che executed all three movements.

The pill glowed, and a white light exploded throughout the chamber. The old man raised his hand, and the two furnaces stopped.

Silence.

Guo Han’s light remained illuminated, but weakly.

Yun Che’s became completely white.

The old man declared:

"The winner has been decided."

Guo Han remained staring at his pill. He had lost by the smallest fraction in his flame control. It was a minimal difference.

But he had lost. He slowly exhaled.

"So that’s how it was."

He looked at Yun Che.

"You really are a brilliant person in the field of alchemy. What a strange mind you have. This is only the second time I’ve lost to someone. Well, at least this time, it was to a true alchemist."

Yun Che remained silent.

"The first time was to a disciple of my sect who had never substantially refined a pill, and now, you."

Guo Han smiled.

"Although I lost this time, I learned a great deal. I think I’ve become better than my former self."

He extended his hand.

"I don’t know who you are."

Yun Che looked at his hand.

"You don’t need to know."

Guo Han smiled.

"Perhaps. However, with your abilities, it won’t be difficult to find out. You must belong to one of the great cultivator families."

The two shook hands.

"I hope we meet again in the future."

"Whenever you wish."

Guo Han nodded.

Then he stepped away.

The light around him began to disappear. The old alchemist stood before Yun Che and remained silent for several seconds.

Then his expression changed. This was no longer the demeanor of an examiner.

"You have won. After centuries of waiting for a successor, you have finally appeared."

"You are a brilliant young man. If I had possessed even half of your abilities back then, perhaps I would have been able to create the Supreme Heaven and Earth Blessing Pill."

The old man sighed dejectedly as his body began to grow increasingly translucent. He looked at the furnace.

"Perhaps you can fulfill this old man’s final wish."

Then he looked directly at him.

"Forget what I said. There is no way a young man can overturn the laws of an entire continent. If I had succeeded, I would not have ended up in a place like this."

Light began to emerge around his body.

"I will leave everything to you now. My inheritance is both a blessing and a curse."

The old man opened his tired arms, and the entire chamber trembled.

"With this..."

The walls began to glow.

"...I will give you everything."

Yun Che frowned as the old man continued:

"This mausoleum once belonged to the Great Alchemist Rafael, and now it belongs to you."

The central formation exploded with light.

"My herb garden."

Huge doors opened, revealing vast fields filled with spiritual plants.

"My library."

Thousands of books appeared along the walls.

"All of my formulas."

Scrolls began floating through the air.

"All of my furnaces."

Dozens of furnaces appeared.

"All of my formations."

The entire walls began revealing hidden matrices.

"My spiritual crystals."

The ground trembled, and an underground chamber opened. Yun Che looked down. Spiritual crystals occupied the entire space.

There were so many that they seemed to form an enormous mountain.

The old man smiled.

"There is more."

Yun Che turned his eyes toward him.

"Countless resources accumulated throughout my life."

"Treasures."

"Materials."

"Portable furnaces."

"Alchemy tools."

"Incomplete formations."

"Complete formations."

"Research records."

"Knowledge I have never shared with anyone."

Yun Che remained silent. Then the old man pointed toward the center of the chamber. An incomplete spatial matrix appeared.

"This formation is not yet complete. If you happen to decide to complete it, you must conquer the other two mausoleums. But with your current cultivation level, it is better that you do not even dare to try."

Yun Che approached.

"This incomplete formation possesses a special function."

The old man explained:

"It is connected to the outside space."

"Once it is complete, it will allow you to enter and leave this mausoleum while taking the local inhabitants with you. Even after returning to the outside world, you will still be able to come back, at a cost of one thousand spiritual stones each time."

Yun Che’s eyes changed. That was far more valuable than it appeared. The old man noticed his reaction.

"Exactly."

He smiled.

"You can turn this place into your own base."

The light around him began to grow more intense.

"Finally..."

The old man raised one finger.

"...you will receive what I consider the most important thing."

The entire library began to glow.

"My knowledge."

Thousands of pieces of information began pouring into Yun Che’s mind like a violent torrent. Purification methods.

Flame control, alchemical formations, stabilization methods, essence treatment, pill refinement, fusion, spiritual control, herbs.

Materials.

Experience.

Mistakes.

Discoveries.

Centuries of knowledge began to pass through his consciousness. Yun Che clenched his teeth. His head hurt. He screamed and cried loudly like a child, the veins in his head nearly bursting.

Gathering all his willpower, he called upon the System, which quickly alleviated his suffering by digitizing all the knowledge.

[Great Alchemist’s inheritance detected.]

[Assimilation initiated.]

[Knowledge received.]

[Reorganizing alchemical structure.]

[Partial integration completed.]

[New formulas acquired.]

[New refinement methods acquired.]

[Knowledge of alchemical formations acquired.]

[Knowledge of furnaces acquired.]

[Knowledge of spatial matrices acquired.]

Yun Che breathed deeply, and then another message appeared.

[Lust Points remain at a critical level.]

[Core instability remains.]

[Warning.]

[Dual Cultivation remains necessary.]

[The host’s cultivation has fallen to the Tempered Body Realm, Level 3.]

[When the cultivation falls beyond three minor realms, the host will die.]

Yun Che opened his eyes. The old man was already disappearing.

"Use all of this wisely."

Yun Che looked at him.

"Why give me everything?"

The old man smiled.

"Because knowledge that is accumulated but never passed on is merely dead knowledge."

His body began to disappear.

"I spent my life searching for someone capable of taking my alchemy beyond what I was able to achieve."

"If you ever go to the Azure Dragon Continent, look for my daughter. By now, she should be in the Profound Sovereign Realm and in need of the Heaven and Earth Blessing Pill."

"It was because of this pill that I died, so be careful."

Light covered his body.

"And you..."

He smiled.

"...are the first person I have encountered who can truly accomplish it."

His body disappeared, and the chamber became completely silent.

Then the System’s voice echoed.

[Inheritance fully established.]

[Mausoleum ownership transferred.]

[Highest authority recognized.]

[Full control acquired.]

Yun Che looked around. At that moment, he understood. The trial had not merely given him a pill. It had given him a territory.

A library.

An herb garden.

Countless furnaces.

Treasures.

Spiritual crystals.

Formations.

Knowledge.

And a spatial matrix that could, in the future, transform this place into a secret base accessible from anywhere in the world.

But there was something he could not ignore. The System’s warning was still before his eyes.

[Lust Points: critical level.]

[Core: unstable.]

[Cultivation decline: imminent.]

[Recommendation: perform Dual Cultivation.]

Yun Che closed his eyes. He had just obtained an inheritance capable of completely changing his path, yet the System would not even allow him to enjoy his victory.

His real problem was still waiting. There was no way to think about the future if his life was being threatened in the present, and time was running out.

The mausoleum’s door slowly began to open. Yun Che put his mask back on before leaving. He looked one last time at the place where the old man had disappeared, his final words still echoing in his ears.

The entire mausoleum now belonged to him, and no one in the outside world knew about it. To everyone else, he was still merely a mysterious masked cultivator, but Yun Che knew the truth.

From that moment onward, he possessed something that could completely alter his future while, at the same time, carrying a silent threat within his own body.

If he did not solve the problem of Dual Cultivation... Not even the entire inheritance of the Great Alchemist would be enough to save him.
