the advancement pill
Zhao Ming frowned.
"You just said you couldn’t understand it?"
Guo Han smiled.
"I said I can’t understand everything yet. That’s different. I can analyze the formation."
He knelt before one of the inscriptions.
"This formation isn’t merely used to supply the furnace. It distributes spiritual energy among the different refinement points."
Su Meilin approached.
"And there are hidden patterns."
Guo Han looked at her.
"You noticed them too."
"Clearly."
She pointed toward a sequence of runes.
"These three lines seem to repeat the same pattern."
Guo Han analyzed them.
"They aren’t repetitions."
"Then what are they?"
"Corrections."
Su Meilin fell silent.
Guo Han continued:
"The formation is designed to automatically correct small changes in the refinement process."
The teenager smiled.
"Excellent."
Guo Han looked at him.
"But there is a flaw."
The teenager’s smile widened.
"Continue."
"If the spiritual energy exceeds a certain limit, the formation itself may interpret the excess as a necessary alteration and compensate in the wrong direction."
The teenager clapped his hands.
"Your understanding is impeccable and worthy enough for you to be here. Very good."
The runes began to glow as the test started. Guo Han took control of one of the formations.
Su Meilin began observing the patterns while Chen Ruyue separated the ingredients according to the required order.
Lian Yue positioned herself near the points of greatest risk, and Zhao Ming quickly began the process.
A reaction emerged, and Lian Yue advanced.
"Move away!"
Zhao Ming retreated at the exact right moment. A surge of spiritual energy swept across the room.
Lian Yue raised her hand, and a barrier protected the participants.
"Continue."
Zhao Ming smiled.
"I knew you would do that."
Lian Yue replied:
"Don’t rely on that again. If you ignore the formation once more, I may not be able to protect you."
Zhao Ming laughed.
"Then I’ll try not to cause you any trouble."
Meanwhile, Yun Che observed the structure. He couldn’t simply copy Guo Han.
He did not possess enough knowledge about formations, so he said goodbye to his Lust Points and called upon the System.
[Initiating structure analysis.]
[Identifying spiritual flow.]
[Mapping connections.]
[Identifying correction points.]
The information appeared in his mind. Yun Che began to understand, and he would not need to copy Guo Han.
He understood the formation’s logic through another path and adjusted the energy according to the System’s instructions.
The reaction stabilized, and Guo Han, who had already been paying attention to the masked man, noticed the change.
"He isn’t following my sequence."
Su Meilin replied:
"No, he isn’t."
She watched carefully.
"He found another solution."
Guo Han smiled.
"Interesting. To think that he also possesses knowledge in the field of alchemical formations."
The door to the eighth floor opened, and an extremely hot wind struck everyone. The initial impact was so strong that some of the flames went out.
Then the temperature began to rise. Lian Yue looked around.
"We must be very careful here. This floor is unstable."
Guo Han replied:
"It probably wasn’t meant to be."
The walls began changing color, and the room’s spiritual energy fluctuated violently. Inside the containers, the ingredients began to tremble.
The teenager calmly walked through the center. His appearance now approached that of a young adult.
His voice had also lost much of its childish lightness.
"Now you understand how difficult it is to be an alchemist."
No one answered. He looked at everyone.
"Alchemy isn’t merely about creating something when everything is perfect."
An explosion occurred in the distance. Lian Yue raised a barrier while the teenager continued.
"It is creating something when the entire world is trying to destroy what you are making. It is refining pills under extreme pressure."
The temperature rose again.
"Begin."
Everyone rushed to their positions. Zhao Ming began refining when a wave of heat struck his platform.
He twisted his body, protected the furnace, and continued.
"This is becoming annoying."
Another wave swept across the room.
Zhao Ming raised a barrier with one hand while controlling the flame with the other.
Guo Han faced another problem. The constant changes in spiritual energy were altering the balance of the formula.
He analyzed it quickly.
"If I maintain the original sequence, the fusion will be destroyed."
He modified the order.
Su Meilin immediately replied:
"It’s not just the temperature."
Guo Han looked at her.
"What?"
"The spiritual energy is fluctuating in cycles."
She pointed toward the walls.
"Look. With every thermal change, there is a corresponding change in the spiritual circulation."
Guo Han realized it.
"So the environment is synchronized."
"Exactly."
Guo Han adjusted his formula.
Chen Ruyue struggled to preserve the ingredients. Some of them were beginning to lose their stability.
She immediately sealed the containers.
"These two cannot remain exposed."
Lian Yue approached.
"I can protect them."
Chen Ruyue handed her the ingredients.
"I need you to keep their spiritual temperature stable, not merely prevent them from being destroyed."
Lian Yue nodded.
"Understood."
She created a precise barrier around the ingredients when a violent reaction emerged near Yun Che.
Lian Yue moved.
"Move away!"
Yun Che did not respond.
His eyes remained fixed on the furnace.
The System analyzed the environment.
[Spiritual fluctuation detected.]
[Pattern identified.]
[Thermal alteration synchronized with external spiritual flow.]
[Recommendation: reduce temperature during the fluctuation peak.]
Yun Che adjusted the flame, and the energy stabilized. A few seconds later, another wave began.
However, he was already prepared. He quickly reduced the temperature before the fluctuation reached the furnace.
Su Meilin noticed.
"He is anticipating the changes."
Guo Han looked at Yun Che.
"Then he understood the pattern."
Su Meilin replied:
"Yes."
She remained silent for a few seconds, and Guo Han smiled faintly.
"That isn’t necessarily a bad thing."
"I know."
Su Meilin continued observing the masked man.
"That’s precisely what makes it strange."
Another explosion occurred.
Zhao Ming was thrown several meters backward, and Lian Yue protected him before he struck a wall.
Zhao Ming stood up.
"I’m fine."
Lian Yue replied:
"I didn’t ask."
Zhao Ming smiled.
"You should ask."
"Stop talking nonsense. Just refine."
"Yes, ma’am."
She shook her head, and the chaos continued. The furnaces threatened to explode, and the ingredients were destroyed.
When the environment finally began to calm down, everyone was exhausted.
The teenager observed the six platforms that were still illuminated, a faint smile appearing on his face.
"Not bad."
Then the door to the ninth floor opened.
