"Do not mistake my silence for fear or a possibility of surrender, bear."
Gorvak’s smile slowly disappeared.
Ariselle continued.
"I was far too busy watching how many of my sisters you killed."
Khoran tightened his grip on his sword.
"They died because they were weak. All of you are weak."
Ariselle’s eyes became even colder.
"We are weak, you say?"
She tilted her head slightly.
"Then I hope you have enough strength to stand by those words."
Gorvak raised his hammer.
"You don’t need to threaten me. My hammer speaks for itself."
He pointed the weapon at Ariselle.
"I’ll give you one last opportunity, Queen of the Medusas."
The entire battlefield fell silent.
"Most of your warriors are already dead, and there is nothing the three of you can do to change the course of this war."
Gorvak wore an arrogant smile.
"Now that you’ve finally appeared, it would be better for you to surrender and beg for your life and the lives of the Medusas who still remain."
He paused briefly.
"Submit to me and my people so that you can save your life and what remains of your dying people."
His voice carried across the battlefield, and in response, Ariselle remained motionless.
"Alive?"
"Yes."
Gorvak laughed.
"As slaves of the Beastmen, of course."
Some enemy soldiers began laughing.
Ariselle smiled as well, but there was no joy in that smile.
"Do you really believe I would bury my pride to save people like you?"
Gorvak frowned as Ariselle slowly raised her chin.
"I would rather bury all of my people myself..."
Her green eyes shone.
"...than allow them to become slaves to inferior trash and barbarians like you."
Gorvak’s smile completely disappeared from his bear-like face.
"So you want to die with them, don’t you?"
Ariselle immediately answered.
"No."
She slowly turned her face, and her eyes fell upon Yun Che.
The masked man remained motionless.
Andarna was hugging his leg, while her blindfolded eyes turned toward the battlefield, completely curious and anxious.
Ariselle looked at Gorvak again.
"It is already too late for me to surrender to anyone."
Gorvak narrowed his eyes.
Ariselle continued.
"I have already surrendered to someone."
Silence fell over the battlefield.
Finally, she had acknowledged the agreement she had with Yun Che, and this time, it was no longer merely a secret between the Elders.
She acknowledged it before everyone.
She looked at Yun Che.
"Him."
Yun Che did not answer.
He simply remained beside Andarna as the Medusas behind Vaelra slowly began approaching.
Two hundred warriors, most of them wounded and exhausted.
Some carried broken swords, while others held bows with trembling hands.
Some had blood covering their faces, but all of them positioned themselves behind their Queen.
Elder Vaelra was the last to arrive.
She slowly walked forward, each step seeming to weigh heavily on her body.
When she finally stood before Ariselle, she lowered her head in shame, overwhelmed by a mixture of complicated emotions.
"My Queen."
Ariselle looked at her.
Vaelra tightened her grip on her sword, her black eyes filled with emotions too complicated to deal with at that moment.
"I failed."
Her voice was low.
"I lost many warriors."
She closed her eyes.
"I lost Elyra."
Vaelra’s hand tightened around the sword’s hilt until her fingers turned white.
"I should have protected her."
Ariselle continued looking at her for several seconds before approaching and placing a hand on the Elder’s shoulder.
"You remained alive and protected our people until the end. There is nothing to be ashamed of or apologize for. You did your best for our people."
Vaelra opened her eyes.
"That isn’t enough."
"Today..."
Ariselle looked at the battlefield covered in corpses.
"...it is."
Vaelra lowered her head again.
Behind them, the survivors remained motionless.
Then a different sound emerged in the distance.
FWOOSH!
A flame streaked across the sky.
The Beastmen looked back, and the Lizardmen did the same.
Through the distant smoke, several figures began to appear.
The Fire Elementals.
They had quickly crossed the distance between the west and the north.
They were not accompanied by an army.
They were only tenth-level cultivators of the Profound Nascence Realm, which was why they had managed to arrive so quickly by using the maximum speed allowed by their cultivation.
Six figures advanced among the rocks, their bodies possessing proportions similar to those of humans.
Their skin was completely red, with flames covering their hair, shoulders, and arms.
Rakan walked at the front.
His body was enormous and muscular, with small dark metal plates covering his chest, while his eyes glowed like burning charcoal.
Saro walked beside him.
His slimmer body had glowing cracks spread across his chest, with small flames escaping from them.
Behind the two were the other four Elementals.
A beautiful, tall woman whose hair was made of long flames.
A slender man with a layer of heat distorting the air around him.
An elegant woman surrounded by blue-red flames.
And another man whose skin was covered in hardened plates of fire.
All of them were tenth-level cultivators of the Profound Nascence Realm.
Rakan stopped.
His eyes met Ariselle’s, and an arrogant smile appeared on his face.
"So the Queen of these filthy things is here. What a surprise."
Saro laughed.
"We finally found the person who possesses the mausoleum."
Ariselle remained motionless as the Elemental Rakan stepped forward.
"We want the Mausoleum of the Great Alchemist. Give it to us obediently, and we will consider sparing your life."
Silence.
"You know very well that this inheritance does not belong to the Medusas. By right, the inheritance should belong to us Fire Elementals. Your inferior race is not worthy."
Another Elemental added:
"Hand it over quickly."
Ariselle merely let out an inward sigh.
She then seemed to close her eyes for a few seconds.
Rakan continued speaking.
"Don’t make this complicated. Just hand over the mausoleum and the corresponding inheritance. If you do it immediately, you will keep your life, so you had better not waste this opportunity."
She opened her eyes.
"You came here after destroying my people, and you still have the audacity to make demands?"
