Chapter 1570: Chapter 1585: Narrow Encounter with an Old Foe
The Monkey Steals the Peach, a very underhanded and sleazy move, but in Black Tiger’s hands, it carried a sharp, bloodthirsty aura.
"Interesting." Lin Mu squinted, feeling a chilly sensation in his groin even before Black Tiger’s claw reached him. This Black Tiger was clearly a skilled fighter. Though Lin Mu couldn’t tell his style yet, he seemed stronger than the Tai Chi master Lin Mu had faced the other day. At least, that bearded middle-aged man didn’t have such a fierce murderous aura.
"Hiss!" In the blink of an eye, Lin Mu’s right hand darted down and, impossibly, clamped onto Black Tiger’s wrist like lightning.
Black Tiger was startled, and his already hunched body instantly curled into a ball. The Monkey Steals the Peach move was meant to be a hit-and-run tactic, jumping up to dodge the enemy’s counterattack. Against others, Black Tiger’s strength might have allowed him to break free and escape. But now he was up against Lin Mu, the Wolf Fang Mercenary King of the North African Grassland, and that only meant trouble for him!
With a "crack" sound, Black Tiger’s wrist was dislocated by the tremendous force of his own leap, while Lin Mu stood firm as a rock, unmoved.
"Damn, trying to cut off the Lin Family’s bloodline, today I’ll show you who’s boss."
Lin Mu grinned, his white teeth gleaming sinisterly under the dim streetlamps. Before Black Tiger could react, Lin Mu moved, his stance relaxed, gathering True Qi, his breath steady, then suddenly exerting force with his arms.
Whoosh! A moment that Ling Xiaoqiao would never forget appeared, as Black Tiger’s 180-pound strong body was lifted effortlessly by Lin Mu, just like grabbing a small animal, firmly held in his hand!
Lin Mu seemed to transform into an Olympic discus thrower, gripping Black Tiger’s arms with both hands, taking small, steady steps in a circle, as constant thumping sounds echoed. Black Tiger’s body collided continuously with the walls on both sides, debris flying, blood splattering, making the scene as brutal as could be!
"Wee woo! Wee woo!" At that moment, a piercing police siren suddenly blared.
"Ha, you’re lucky, kid."
Lin Mu raised an eyebrow, casually tossing the bloodied, unconscious Black Tiger, whose face was swollen like a pig’s head, to the ground. He then beckoned to Ling Xiaoqiao, saying, "Let’s go, why are you standing there? Unless you want the gang to take you to Yihong Courtyard, the police will have you go to the station for a glass of water!"
"Uh... okay, okay..." Ling Xiaoqiao nodded dumbly, letting Lin Mu take her hand and lead her away.
As soon as they got into the Bugatti, the roaring police cars sped over, stopping at the alley’s entrance. A group of officers rushed out and ran inside. Though this street wasn’t a bustling commercial avenue, it still had plenty of foot traffic. If something as menacing as a street assault occurred, disrupting harmony, how could the police not be urgent?
"Let’s go, the police are here."
Ling Xiaoqiao’s pretty face was pale as she urged repeatedly. Perhaps due to her profession, she couldn’t help but feel nervous at the sight of police caps.
"Why worry, come on."
Lin Mu rolled down the window, looking with interest. "As long as they didn’t see us, who would know we took out those thugs?"
"Who’s scared?"
Ling Xiaoqiao thought for a moment, realizing he was right, and relaxed with a sigh, covering it by saying, "I just don’t want to cause you trouble."
"Oh! Quite righteous, aren’t you?"
"Of course, I, Ling Xiaoqiao, always walk the rivers and lakes with integrity..."
Ling Xiaoqiao patted her chest, preparing to brag, but saw Lin Mu looking at her with an amused expression.
Her face flushed, remembering how she had tricked him not long ago. Now speaking of integrity felt somewhat hypocritical. Coughing awkwardly, she pretended to be surprised, changing the subject: "Wow, this is your car, it’s so beautiful! The seats are genuine leather, right?" 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂
"Ha, stripped from a person, how could it not be genuine?"
Lin Mu chuckled darkly.
"Tch! As if I’d believe that!" Ling Xiaoqiao pouted, tapping the center console. Instantly, melodious music played in the car. "The sound system’s really good, I guess this car must be worth tens of thousands."
Realizing he hadn’t scared her, Lin Mu felt somewhat bored, hands resting behind his head as he lazily stared out the window. "With your keen eye, a 3.0-liter, twin-engine luxury Bugatti? Try buying one for less than a million."
"What, that expensive?"
Ling Xiaoqiao’s face changed in shock, her beautiful eyes widening. Her hand, which was casually sliding over the console, recoiled as if electrified, fearing she might leave a scratch or stain on it.
Seeing her cautious demeanor, Lin Mu couldn’t help but laugh, "I’ve suddenly realized, you’re quite adorable. No, specifically, adorably silly!"
"Huh?" Ling Xiaoqiao was momentarily speechless, wanting to retort but unsure how.
Since she’d walked the rivers and lakes alone, she’d been described many ways—cool, beautiful, even heartless—but never "adorable." At that word, she felt a wave of nostalgia, as if she was back to her schoolgirl days, secretly crushing on a senior. Her face flushed red, as red as the blooming azaleas of her hometown.
Interactions between people are complex; sometimes a word, an action, can have a magical effect.
Ling Xiaoqiao’s ’adorable look’ made Lin Mu’s heart flutter, dissipating any previous dissatisfaction and resentment. Just as he was about to close the window and leave, a cold voice suddenly came from outside: "License and registration, don’t you know you can’t park here?"
"Uh!" Lin Mu sheepishly scratched his head under Ling Xiaoqiao’s somewhat tense and questioning gaze, realizing he hadn’t seen the no-parking sign in his eagerness to watch the commotion.
"Sorry, madam! I’m from Xiang Island, not familiar with mainland rules. Please, let’s let it slide!"
Lin Mu’s response almost made Ling Xiaoqiao burst into laughter. This guy was too amusing, even faking being from Hong Kong or Taiwan. But to be fair, his Cantonese was impeccable—not just the pronunciation but also the intonation and habits. Even the elderly in Xiang Island would have a hard time finding faults.
Sure enough, the policewoman was taken aback. Do people from Xiang Island have privileges? No! However, for the sake of cross-strait harmony and exchange, some leniency in law enforcement is an unwritten rule within the mainland’s public security system.
"Go on, remember to pay attention next time."
Waving impatiently, Lei Xiaojiao straddled her patrol motorcycle with a pouty face.
