Chapter 1493: Chapter 1508: Officer Attacked
Liu Zhongyong and a few others followed Lin Mu out of the interrogation room and accompanied him to the entrance of the police station. Lin Mu then nonchalantly took out a cigarette, lit it, and handed one to Liu Zhongyong. Although Liu Zhongyong’s help wasn’t crucial for Lin Mu, it was still a gesture of appreciation to offer him a cigarette.
"Ha ha, Officer Liu, thanks a lot," Lin Mu said with a smile.
"No need to thank me, it was a favor for Young Master Jiao, just a small effort," Liu Zhongyong said.
"Alright then, I’ll take my leave," Lin Mu waved as he spoke, but as soon as he stepped out of the station, he stopped and turned back to Liu Zhongyong.
Liu Zhongyong glanced at Lin Mu and asked, "Is there anything else?"
"Be careful tonight," Lin Mu chuckled as he advised Liu Zhongyong.
Liu Zhongyong wasn’t a fool; he understood the implications behind Lin Mu’s words. He smiled, "Don’t worry, I’ll be cautious. Honestly, I don’t have Zhu Tianqi in my sights."
Lin Mu waved his hand, "Ha ha, that’s not what I meant. I mean outside, someone’s already waiting for you."
Liu Zhongyong frowned slightly and then smiled, "Thanks, I got it."
"Also, I should remind you, these people aren’t simple. If there’s no trouble, I can give you a ride," Lin Mu offered.
"No need, I can handle it," Liu Zhongyong replied.
"Alright then, be careful," Lin Mu waved his hand and strode out of the station.
Liu Zhongyong watched Lin Mu’s departing figure and spoke to the officer beside him, "Prepare yourselves, it seems someone is going to target us."
The officer nodded and then left the scene.
Before long, a police car approached. Liu Zhongyong opened the door and got in, and soon the car drove away from the police station.
Meanwhile, standing in front of the police headquarters, Zhu Tianqi took out his phone and dialed a number.
"Is everything ready?" Zhu Tianqi asked over the phone.
"All set," replied a voice from the other end.
"Be careful, Liu Zhongyong seems to be aware and might be prepared," Zhu Tianqi advised.
"Don’t worry, everything will be foolproof," the voice assured him.
"Alright, let’s go with that," Zhu Tianqi said and hung up the call.
Then, standing on the steps in front of the police headquarters, Zhu Tianqi sneered, "Liu Zhongyong, let’s see how you escape this time."
Meanwhile, Liu Zhongyong’s car had just left the station. His driver and trusted subordinate seemed confused by Lin Mu’s warning, "Officer Liu, Zhu Qitian is overestimating himself. Do we really need to be so cautious against him?"
Liu Zhongyong was seated in the back, with people on either side in the front.
"Better safe than sorry. Tonight, someone like Zhu Tianqi won’t let it go easily. I know him too well; he’s the kind who will bite back at any cost," Liu Zhongyong replied.
...
Just then, a strong beam of light shone from the front. The driver instinctively shouted, "Watch out!"
With such intense lights, the road ahead became invisible, so the driver instinctively turned the steering wheel.
This situation was clearly a deliberate ramming. Without turning the wheel to avoid it, a direct collision would be devastating.
"Bang"
A dull thud was heard as the car crashed into a roadside lamppost.
"Something’s up, everyone get ready," Liu Zhongyong immediately sensed that something was wrong, drawing out his handgun as he spoke.
The few officers in the car also drew their guns from their waists.
"Don’t get out just yet; observe the situation," Liu Zhongyong advised once again.
So the officers remained inside the car, not getting out. Liu Zhongyong’s judgment was correct; if the opponents had guns, getting out now would be a death sentence.
Screeching brakes followed as a few unlicensed Toyota cars blocked Liu Zhongyong’s vehicle front and back, leaving no way out and making escape seem impossible for Liu Zhongyong.
When the Toyota cars came to a stop, a group of assassins with stockings over their heads disembarked, each wielding a handgun.
"Officer Liu, the situation looks bad. They all have guns," one of the officers alerted Liu Zhongyong.
At this moment, Liu Zhongyong looked grim; he clearly didn’t expect the opponents to be so audacious as to have more than ten armed men boldly attack the police. Now, with only five or six people on his side and surrounded, things looked dire.
"Stay calm, and act according to the situation," Liu Zhongyong instructed coolly. He also knew that he must remain composed. As their leader, if he panicked, his subordinates would certainly become frantic and disorganized, leading to certain defeat and death!
Soon, the group of stocking-headed men surrounded Liu Zhongyong and his team. These people looked seasoned and ruthless, leaving Liu Zhongyong no chance to escape.
"Open the car door," one of the assassins ordered.
Soon, an assassin approached, pointed his gun at the car window, and shouted to Liu Zhongyong inside, "Hurry up, open the car door."
Realizing the situation, Liu Zhongyong knew that running was barely an option, and the chances of escaping were slim.
It seemed he had underestimated the enemy. Reflecting on this, Liu Zhongyong felt deep regret. He shouldn’t have ignored Lin Mu’s warning, but unfortunately, there’s no medicine for regret in this world!
"Officer Liu, why not make a stand? At worst, we won’t make it," suggested one of the officers inside the car to Liu Zhongyong.
Liu Zhongyong waved his hand, saying, "They’re after me, not you. You’re all police officers. As long as you don’t provoke them, they won’t dare kill you."
"Officer Liu, what about you?" asked one of the officers cautiously.
"Better that I die alone than us all dying together, right?" Liu Zhongyong chuckled.
"Officer Liu, you have been a benefactor to us. If we fight together, there’s a chance," another officer from inside the car suggested.
"It’s no use. They have more than ten guns, and we only have five. We can’t win and would only die in vain alongside me. So, please, stay inside while I go out alone," Liu Zhongyong instructed.
"Officer Liu, if we die, we die together!"
"No, this is an order," Liu Zhongyong said sternly, then opened the car door and got out.
Once out of the car, a brute approached and snatched Liu Zhongyong’s handgun, then used the butt of the gun to smash against Liu Zhongyong’s jaw.
This brute hit extremely hard, causing blood to ooze immediately from the corner of Liu Zhongyong’s mouth. The brute continued to rain punches and kicks down, knocking Liu Zhongyong to the ground.
