Chapter 413: Chapter 410: Trying to Out-bombard Me?
But then again, Yun Jiansong was a righteous guy. At least he hadn’t told anyone about Lu Wen Jie.
"I can’t be certain if he’s friend or foe, but for me personally, he should be an ally," Feng Hao answered thoughtfully.
Yun Jiansong didn’t understand. "What do you mean?"
"I helped him once, so he probably won’t move against me. But for everyone else, I’m afraid he won’t show any mercy. After all, he’s a member of the True God Sect now," Feng Hao said meaningfully.
"I see." Yun Jiansong nodded in understanding, then followed up with another question. "By the way, Brother Feng, how do you know someone from the True God Sect?"
"It’s a long story. When I saved him, he wasn’t part of the True God Sect yet. His joining them was something of a surprise to me." Feng Hao frowned to himself.
’To be honest, considering Lu Wen Jie’s hatred for the True God Sect, it should have been impossible for him to join.’
’And yet, he’d somehow become a member—and a high-ranking one at that. That was what Feng Hao couldn’t figure out.’
’Perhaps he had his own agenda for joining the True God Sect, or maybe he’d been controlled and brainwashed...’
’However, Feng Hao believed the former was more likely. After all, if he had been brainwashed and controlled by the True God Sect, he wouldn’t have let them leave earlier.’
"So, should we make a move against him or not?" Yun Jiansong asked, his eyes filled with conflict.
Feng Hao looked surprised and teased, "Make a move against him? Do you think you can beat him?"
"..." Yun Jiansong was left speechless. Based on the power Lu Wen Jie had displayed earlier, he definitely couldn’t win.
"For now, let’s keep this to ourselves. I’ll find a chance to test his skills and get a better sense of the situation."
Yun Jiansong nodded thoughtfully. "Alright, I understand."
With that, he flew off and resumed his slaughter, sword in hand.
After Yun Jiansong left, Feng Hao’s gaze once again locked onto Lu Wen Jie in the distance. With a slight frown, he began to fight his way in that direction.
...
On the other side of the battlefield, the moment Saint Envoy Tian’s energy channeling was interrupted, the tide of battle had already begun to turn in the academy’s favor.
The experts from the Root Cutting Sect realized this as well, but they were completely pinned down by the Thief Master and could only watch helplessly as the academy’s masters slaughtered their subordinates.
"Damn it! Send a few people over to Saint Envoy Tian! Secure the Array-Breaking Spear first!"
The middle-aged leader of the Celestial Eagle Team gritted his teeth and gave the order, then threw a special signal flare into the air.
BANG!
As the flare ascended, the artillery fire that had previously ceased roared to life once more. In an instant, a deluge of shells rained down from the sky.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Under such a dense bombardment, even the Thief Master had to divert some of his focus to defend himself. He had no choice. Although the shells posed little threat to him individually, he couldn’t withstand the sheer volume. With hundreds, even thousands of shells crashing down, even the most powerful Mage would be blasted to smithereens.
Of course, launching a bombardment at a time like this would undoubtedly result in mutual destruction, but it effectively diverted the Thief Master’s attention.
Once the Thief Master was distracted, they could spare some men to support Saint Envoy Tian and find a chance to break the seal. As long as they could release the Saint Master’s true body, everything else would be manageable.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The situation descended into chaos under the artillery bombardment.
Feng Hao hadn’t expected the enemy to launch a bombardment at this moment and couldn’t help but curse under his breath, "Fuck! These cultists really are all lunatics! When they go crazy, they even bomb their own men!"
Seeing the artillery fire grow more intense, Feng Hao had no choice but to change his course and head over to support Yao Girl and Xiyue Frost.
Meanwhile, on another part of the battlefield, Lin Luo’s group of four had just fought their way near the Elder Hall when they were caught off guard by the sudden artillery barrage.
"Holy shit, are they fucking idiots? Bombarding at a time like this? They’re the ones who’ll suffer the greatest losses!" Lin Luo wiped the blood from his face and spat through gritted teeth.
Wang Tongqian cut down several enemies with his blade and hastily shouted a reminder to the gracefully dancing Kang Shuai, "Kang Shuai, stop your damn dancing! Watch out for the shells!"
"Mere shells. A simple verse from me is all it takes to make them vanish into thin air." Kang Shuai elegantly folded his fan, a disdainful smile playing on his lips.
But just as he was striking a pose, Mei Meimei snapped irritably, "Hey, Second Brother, can you stop being so vain in the middle of a fight? These guys are using solid-shot shells with huge destructive power. Your little verses won’t block more than a few."
"Shit, why didn’t you say so sooner!" Kang Shuai cursed under his breath, all traces of his elegant demeanor gone as he scrambled back toward the other three.
Mei Meimei shot him an annoyed glare before her expression turned serious. "Stop wasting time. Cover me."
"What for? Don’t tell me you’re planning a bombardment of your own?" Lin Luo asked, surprised and suspicious.
"Of course," Mei Meimei huffed, then sneered with contempt. "An artillery duel with me? They’re still a little too green for that."
With that, her Spatial Ring began to flash wildly. In the blink of an eye, over a hundred cannons of various shapes and sizes were set up around them. "Stop gawking and cover me for a bit. I need to load the shells."
"Uhm... maybe let’s not. You’re going to blow Five States City off the map," Lin Luo said, his mouth twitching.
"Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing." Mei Meimei gave a carefree laugh. While loading the cannons, she said to Kang Shuai, "Oh, right, Second Brother, help me lock onto the enemy artillery positions. Let’s take out their firepower first."
Kang Shuai opened his mouth, then shook his head helplessly. He pressed the tip of his folded fan to the spot between his eyebrows, and instantly, strings of text formed from white light rose up around his body.
At the same time, his Divine Sense began to spread out in all directions at incredible speed. In an instant, he had located the Root Cutting Sect’s artillery positions.
"Four strongholds in total. I’m sending you the Divine Sense coordinates." Kang Shuai wasted no words, directly transmitting the information he had gathered with his Divine Sense into Mei Meimei’s sea of consciousness.
Once the target locations were confirmed, Mei Meimei no longer hesitated. She skillfully adjusted the angles of the cannons, threw her head back, and laughed wildly. "Let me show you what a real bombardment looks like! Fire—!"
BANG! BANG! BANG!
The next moment, at Mei Meimei’s command, all one hundred cannons lit up with magical light. Shell after shell shot into the sky, streaking across it like meteors and tracing beautiful, brilliant arcs.
Outside Five States City, in four separate artillery camps, the enemy was frantically firing their cannons.
But they never expected that a massive barrage of shells was currently hurtling toward them.
"Huh? What are those lights?" a loader was the first to notice the strange sight in the sky and asked curiously.
The gunner paused and instinctively looked up. "I always say you’re an idiot, and you never believe me. Those lights are obviously artillery shells!"
"But why are those lights getting closer and closer to us?" the loader asked, confused.
"Uh..." The gunner’s expression froze. A sudden realization hit him, and his face went deathly pale. "Oh no! They’re enemy shells! Get down! Everyone get down!"
But it was too late. By the time they reacted, countless shells were already falling from the sky.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The terrifying shells exploded in a chain reaction like a string of firecrackers, instantly turning the artillery positions into rubble. What was even deadlier was that many of these shells were mixed with elemental ammunition, making their destructive power exceptionally horrifying.
In the space of a few short breaths, the entire position was utterly devastated. Flames and frost simultaneously covered the ruins, where countless Root Cutting Sect artillerymen were barely clinging to life, groaning in agony...
