Chapter 392: Chapter 389: I’m Just Afraid You Can’t Finish It All

Just as Zhang Meng’s group and the Xue Qingshan father-daughter pair were about to leave, a hearty laugh rang out from nearby. "Haha, why were you looking for me? I’m back, aren’t I?"

"Feng Hao?!" Everyone whipped their heads around in surprise.

There stood Feng Hao, shoulder-to-shoulder with Yun Jiansong, a faint smile on his face as he looked their way. Yun Jiansong, of course, remained expressionless.

Once they confirmed Feng Hao was safe and sound, Xiyue Frost and the others let out a collective sigh of relief. Xi Yueyao, however, had a different reaction. She struggled out of Xiyue Frost’s arms and flew into Feng Hao’s embrace like a homing pigeon.

"You damn medicine peddler, where did you run off to! You scared me to death!" Xi Yueyao’s eyes were red, but she stubbornly held back her tears.

It wasn’t that she was particularly strong; she just never forgot the promise Feng Hao had made her: "In this life, I, as your husband, will only ever make you cry once."

She didn’t want him to break his promise, and she didn’t want to cause him any heartache.

Feng Hao could sense her feelings, his gaze softening with tenderness and guilt. "Silly Girl, I’m sorry for making you worry."

"Hmph!" Xi Yueyao lightly pounded on Feng Hao’s chest, turning her head away in a huff. "You have some nerve."

"Hehe." Feng Hao grinned, habitually ruffling her hair. Taking her by the hand, he walked toward the others. "I’m relieved to see everyone is safe."

"What could possibly happen to us at the academy?" Xiyue Frost shot Feng Hao a look, her tone sharp. "You’re the one who’s impossible to not worry about. Yaoyao has been beside herself all night."

"Ahem," Feng Hao said with a sheepish smile. "My apologies for making everyone worry."

Hearing this, Xiyue Frost’s anger finally subsided. She let out a soft hmph and said no more.

Seeing Feng Hao return safely, Zhang Meng and his two companions were overjoyed as well. "It’s all good. As long as you’re back safe, Boss, that’s all that matters."

"Yeah, we were starting to think you’d been captured by that evil cult," Dongfang Qi and Nanyuan Xu chimed in, stepping forward to tease him.

Xue Qingshan and his daughter also came forward to express their gratitude. "My friend, thank you for what you did earlier. If you hadn’t lured away that Seventh Rank Mage, we never would have made it to the academy."

"We’re all neighbors. It was no trouble at all," Feng Hao said with a chuckle.

"So, how did you manage to escape that Seventh Rank Mage?" Xue Xiaoyun asked, her eyes wide with curiosity.

Feng Hao smirked, puffing out his chest. "A mere Tier Seven Root-Cutting Mage? Why would I need to ’escape’? I just tossed a few moves his way and finished him off."

"Yeah, right! In your dreams!" Xue Xiaoyun huffed.

It wasn’t just Xue Xiaoyun. Everyone else present also figured Feng Hao was full of it. Only Xi Yueyao chose to believe him.

Feng Hao couldn’t be bothered to explain. After a bit more small talk, his gaze began to sweep over the surroundings.

He felt a sense of relief seeing the academy’s faculty and students all united with a common purpose.

For these students, who had been coddled and had never experienced any real hardship, the impact of this disaster was undoubtedly immense. The fact that they were holding up this well was already impressive.

Of course, the credit for that belonged mostly to the faculty of the various departments and the academy’s leadership. Without their guidance and command, the students would never have remained this composed.

"Right, what’s the current situation with the battle? Were the academy’s losses severe?" Feng Hao asked the group, his brow furrowed in concern.

Yue Linglong sighed, a hint of helplessness on her beautiful face. "The faculty and students suffered heavy casualties in last night’s battle. We even lost an Elder. Thankfully, the cult suddenly retreated at dawn. Otherwise, the situation would be even more dire."

"The silver lining is that during this Magic Tide, the students’ powers will all increase to some degree, which will bolster our strength," Yue Linglong continued with another sigh. "The critical problem now is that the Elders are all severely injured. I don’t know if they’ll be able to fend off the cult’s next assault."

At these words, Feng Hao’s brow furrowed. ’Honestly, the academy is in worse shape than I imagined.’

Just as he was deep in thought, Xie Xiaoyu shoved her way through the crowd, shouting. Following close behind were Elder Yun and Bai Yin, their eyes fixed on him with unconcealed urgency.

"Feng Hao, you’re finally back! My master needs to see you about something important!" Xie Xiaoyu yelled.

The moment she saw Xie Xiaoyu, Xi Yueyao’s temper flared. "You wench, what are you yelling for! You looking for a fight?!"

"Hmph! We can fight later. Right now, I have real business with him," Xie Xiaoyu snorted haughtily, pulling Elder Yun and Bai Yin right up to Feng Hao.

Feng Hao shook his head, exasperated. He turned to Elder Yun and Bai Yin in confusion. "Is there something you need, Seniors?"

Elder Yun took out a small bottle of pills, her eyes glinting. "Young man, this elixir... it’s yours, isn’t it?"

"It is. Why?" Feng Hao glanced at the bottle in her hand, completely baffled.

"Wonderful! Do you have any more?" Elder Yun demanded, her voice filled with urgency.

The sudden turn of events left Feng Hao completely bewildered. He had no idea what Elder Yun was getting at.

Seeing Feng Hao’s dumbfounded expression, Bai Yin quickly stepped forward to explain. "Master and the other Elders are all injured. They desperately need high-tier elixirs to heal. If you have any more, we would be eternally grateful if you could share them. Please!"

It was only then that Feng Hao understood. He couldn’t help but laugh. "And here I was, wondering what the big deal was. You need Healing Medicine, is that it? Come on, I’ve got plenty. My only concern is you won’t be able to get through it all."

With that, under the disbelieving stares of the crowd, he pulled out several dozen identical bottles of Healing Medicine from his Spatial Ring.

As soon as it saw the high-grade "cat food," Xiaohai darted out from the sidelines, snatched a bottle of the elixirs, and took off, leaving Feng Hao completely exasperated.

"Go on, get out of here and go play with Xiao San’Er. There’s nothing for you here," Feng Hao grumbled, glaring at Xiaohai as he released Three-second Fire.

But after Three-second Fire appeared, it showed no interest in playing with Xiaohai. Instead, it stared curiously at Elder Yun, then adopted a haughty expression. "Well, well, look what we have here! Another one of my kind! Hey... old lady, let your little Xiaofengfeng out to play with me."

Elder Yun, however, was already in a state of shock. First, she’d gasped in astonishment at the huge batch of Tier Nine Healing Medicine. Then, she was left speechless by the sight of Xiaohai treating a Tier Nine Elixir like a common snack.

Just when she thought the shocks were over, a fire seed materialized right in front of her.

"Is that... a fire seed?!" Elder Yun stammered, her eyes wide.

"Huh? Elder Yun didn’t know?" Feng Hao paused, glancing instinctively at Xi Yueyao. If he recalled correctly, she had spent a good while parading Three-second Fire around the academy. Logically, the entire school should know about it by now.

Xi Yueyao clearly saw the question in his eyes. She smacked her lips and huffed, "I’m not that stupid. I would never be willing to just expose something as precious as the Little Fireman!"

"Then what were you doing with it all that time?" Feng Hao asked, baffled.

"Nothing much. Just wanted to see if he could melt my ice sculptures... and maybe pull a few pranks," the girl mumbled, her eyes darting away.

"..." Feng Hao was rendered speechless.

But when Xie Xiaoyu heard this, she shrieked, "Aha! So you’re the one who’s been secretly burning my clothes and hair!"

"Tch. It was just a few outfits and a couple strands of hair. What’s the big deal?" Xi Yueyao retorted with a dismissive pout.

"You little monster! Let’s see how you like it if I burn you bald!" Xie Xiaoyu exploded, ready to lunge forward with claws bared. Fortunately, Xie Kuangfeng arrived just in time to stop her, preventing another bloodbath.
