The SSS-Rank Deveror Who Abandoned Glory to Raise Four Daughters
Chapter 98 - 32
The transition from the high-tension arena evaluation to the routine rhythms of academic life created a bizarre dichotomy within Lecture Hall 101. Where there had once been rowdy, entitled posturing from northern aristocrats, there was now an almost sacred, disciplined silence. The remaining noble boys kept their eyes glued strictly to their parchment, practically trembling if Arthur so much as shifted in his seat. The female students, conversely, had elevated Arthur from a mere object of curiosity to an legendary icon—an untouchable, extraordinarily composed prodigy whose subtle smile could derail an entire row’s concentration.
In the back row, Arthur sat with his chin resting casually on his knuckles, his dark eyes scanning the complex runic matrices Professor Vane was chalking onto the main board. Beside him, Katherine was a picture of radiant transformation. Though she still wore her oversized cardigan out of habit, her posture was straight, her violet eyes sparkled with sharp academic focus, and her hands no longer trembled when she dipped her quill into the inkwell. The toxic, suffocating anxiety that had weighed on her for years had vanished, replaced by the warm, unshakeable sanctuary Arthur had created around her.
"Arthur," Katherine whispered softly, leaning slightly closer so her shoulder brushed his arm, her cheeks dusting with an adorable, rosy flush. "The second-order mana converter on the left grid... shouldn’t the stability coefficient be multiplied by three instead of two?"
Arthur glanced at her notes, noting with quiet satisfaction that she had caught the subtle mathematical error Professor Vane had accidentally introduced on the board.
"Correct," Arthur murmured, his low, smooth voice sending a sweet, breathless shiver down her spine. "Write it down that way. When Vane grades the afternoon practicals, your paper will be the only flawless one in the room."
Katherine bit her lower lip, a breathtaking, radiant smile breaking across her face as her heart did a happy, chaotic dance. She leaned back over her parchment, writing with renewed vigor, completely blissfully unaware that the boy helping her adjust her runic equations was the singular entity who had authored the foundational texts of modern magic himself.
When the afternoon block concluded, Arthur escorted Katherine down to Dr. Elena’s medical wing to begin her official research assistantship before taking his leave. Walking along the quiet, sunlit colonnades of the administrative quadrant, Arthur felt a subtle, familiar ripple in the ambient mana grid—a private, encrypted spatial signature that only one person in the world possessed.
He stepped into the shaded privacy of the grand archive courtyard, where the ancient oak trees cast long, cool shadows over the marble benches.
A soft, aromatic scent of sweet honey and fresh morning grass bloomed in the air. Out from the shadow of a high marble pillar stepped Lyra. She was not wearing her typical corporate suit or formal central bank regalia; instead, she wore a simple, breathtakingly elegant violet silk dress that hugged her lush, mature curves, her long silver hair falling over her shoulders like liquid starlight.
"Arthur," Lyra murmured softly, her violet eyes brimming with an intense, helpless affection that no corporate title could ever mask.
She didn’t hesitate. Stepping directly into his personal space, she wrapped her soft, warm arms around his neck, leaning her head against his chest with a deep, shuddering sigh of pure relief. Arthur smiled gently, his arms wrapping around her narrow waist, pulling her flush against him as he inhaled her familiar, comforting scent.
"You’re breaking your own protocol, CEO Lyra," Arthur teased softly, his fingers lightly tracing the soft curve of her spine. "I thought you promised the council you wouldn’t sneak onto campus during class hours."
"I don’t care about the protocol," Lyra pouted, looking up at him with flushed cheeks and sparkling eyes, her hands gripping his blazer tightly. "It’s been four days, Arthur. The estate is too big, the desk is too cold, and reviewing continental trade ledgers without you sitting across from me drinking dark coffee is absolute torture."
She leaned up on her tiptoes, pressing her soft, warm lips against his in a lingering, sweet kiss that carried every ounce of her unshakeable devotion, her romantic longing, and the deep, shared history of the empire they had built from nothing.
When she finally pulled back, breathless and rosy-cheeked, she rested her forehead against his chest.
"Sister Elena spoke to all twelve of us again last night," Lyra whispered, her voice trembling slightly with sweet, overwhelmed happiness. "She showed us the draft for the sovereign union. She... she already assigned the seating arrangements for the grand hall, Arthur. She put me on your right, Celeste on your left, and integrated a private wing for Miss Katherine."
Arthur chuckled, a deep, resonant sound that vibrated against Lyra’s cheek. "My sister always did move too fast when she saw an inefficiency. She probably thinks twelve wives is the bare minimum required to keep me from overworking."
"It is the bare minimum!" Lyra declared with a sweet, possessive huff, looking up at him with fierce, beautiful eyes. "And don’t you dare think you can escape it. The treaties are drawn, the central bank reserves are allocated for the grand celebration, and every single one of us is waiting for you to finish playing student."
"I’m not playing, Lyra," Arthur smiled, his dark eyes glowing with a cool, captivating light as he brushed a strand of silver hair behind her ear. "I’m observing the world we created. And seeing you, Elena, Katherine, and the council thrive in it makes every single late-night algorithm worth it."
Lyra looked at him, her heart melting entirely under his warm, absolute gaze. She pressed one last, loving kiss to his cheek before stepping back, smoothing her silk dress with flushed, happy hands.
"I’ll return to the estate for now," she said softly, offering him the brilliant, radiant smile of a woman who possessed the absolute love of the sovereign. "But remember your daily report tonight, Arthur. If you skip it, I won’t stop Valerie from deploying the sky-drakes."
"Understood, CEO," Arthur smirked.
As Lyra vanished back into the spatial portal leading to the Apex Estate, Arthur turned toward the sunlit courtyard, adjusting his uniform collar. The academic term was progressing smoothly, his secret empire was flourishing, his family was reunited, and the grand future of his continent was fully secured. Arthur slung his leather bag over his shoulder and walked calmly toward his next lecture, ready for whatever the day brought next.
