The air in the royal bedchamber did not just grow cold; it curdled. A heavy, suffocating pressure settled over the room, thick with the sharp, metallic tang of ozone and the sudden, biting chill of an unnatural frost that seemed to seep directly out of the stone walls. Cassius pressed his right palm flat against his chest, his fingers immediately sinking into a wet, warm ruin. His breath hitched violently, a ragged, desperate sound that caught in his throat as his brain struggled to process the sheer depth of the injury. It was a severe, debilitating wound- a precise, cruel mirror of the traumatic, jagged gash that Florianthum herself carried upon her flesh.

Every single breath felt like a losing battle against a crushing weight. The sensation radiated outward from his sternum in agonizing ripples, paralyzing the thick muscles of his back and locking his spine in a rigid, painful arc. He tried to brace his weight against his elbow, digging his leather boot into the floor to force his legs to find some sort of purchase on the polished stone, but his nervous system completely refused the command. His vision flickered rapidly, the edges of his sight curling into a dull, smoky blackness that threatened to swallow him whole. With a final, involuntary shudder that shook his entire frame, his remaining strength gave out. He lost all control. He collapsed backward, hitting the floor completely, his gaze fixed upward in a mixture of raw shock and a creeping, icy terror.

Above him, Florianthum did not move. For a long, agonizing heartbeat, her face remained that same terrifying, unreadable mask- a dead, expressionless slate that looked more like carved marble than living tissue. But as her gaze drifted downward, settling on the sight of Cassius struggling in the dirt, something dark and twisted stirred within her features.

The blankness shattered. The corners of her mouth twitched upward, pulling back slowly, deliberately, until a long, horrific smile broke across her pale face.

It was an empty, distorted grin that stretched the skin taut across her cheekbones, entirely devoid of any human warmth or recognition. Her dark eyes remained wide and unblinking, reflecting his agony with a glassy, monstrous satisfaction. The sheer contrast between her delicate, innocent features and that predatory, unnatural grin sent a wave of cold dread through Cassius that temporarily eclipsed his physical pain. She did not look like a person anymore; she looked down at him as if he were nothing more than a broken toy whose sudden, violent suffering was merely an amusing curiosity to pass the time.

Cassius gripped his torn chest, his knuckles turning stark white against the dark crimson stains soaking his shirt. He wanted to speak, to call out her name, to find any remaining fragment of the girl he thought he knew behind that terrifying smile, but the sheer shock of the encounter had stolen the air from his lungs. The room seemed to stretch, the high ceilings receding into the dark as his heart hammered a frantic, dying rhythm against his ribs.

Then, the world changed entirely.

Before he could even draw another ragged breath, a thick, dark purple, glittery smoke began to seep out from beneath his body, bubbling outward as heavy ink spilled into a basin of clear water. It was not normal smoke. It did not rise toward the ceiling or dissipate into the cold air; instead, it clung to his body like a living thing, swirling in heavy, dense eddies that pooled around his torso and limbs. Within the deep, velvet-violet currents, thousands of tiny, glittery particles began to ignite spontaneously. They drifted through the thickening fog like miniature, dying stars, casting a soft, surreal luminescent glow against the damp stone walls.

The smoke looked utterly magical, an unbelievable spectacle that defied every law of nature and logic Cassius had ever known. As it swirled, a strange, ancient fragrance began to fill the massive room- a scent that smelled of heavy summer rain, ancient dust, and crushed violets.

The smoke expanded with terrifying speed, rolling away from Cassius’s collapsing form in thick, heavy waves. It poured across the stone floor, swallowing the deep shadows, the fallen furniture, and the base of the massive royal bed. Within a matter of seconds, the bedroom was entirely consumed by the fog. The high, arching walls, the heavy velvet drapes, and even the towering, smiling silhouette of Florianthum herself were completely blinded from view. Everything was erased, replaced by a shimmering, isolated cloud that seemed to exist in its own pocket of reality, severed from the palace entirely.

The only thing left visible in the entire universe was Cassius.

He was no longer lying on the hard, unyielding stone. As the dark purple glittery smoke pooled and thickened beneath him, it grew denser, compacting itself into an unadulting, weightless mattress of pure energy. Slowly, silently, Cassius’s heavy form was lifted off the ground. He floated upward, suspended in midair, cradled entirely by the shimmering violet cloud that held him with a gentle, almost reverent care.

His eyes were only half-open, the thick film of approaching unconsciousness veiling his irises and dulling the light. The sharp, agonizing edges of the physical world had gone completely numb, replaced by a heavy, enveloping warmth that flowed into his wound and stilled there, but it felt distant, as if it belonged to someone else standing miles away. The faces of his past- long-forgotten corridors, soft laughter, and the names he hadn’t spoken in days- began to flash vividly behind his heavy eyelids, blurred and distant like memories viewed through a rain-slicked window pane.

With the absolute last vestige of his mortal strength, his lips parted. The movement was agonizingly slow, his throat dry and tight as if lined with sand. He used every single ounce of willpower remaining in his broken body to push air past his lips, fighting the darkness that pulled at his mind.

"M-Mom..." he mumbled, the word nothing more than a fractured, breathy whisper that barely carried across the quiet fog.

The silence of the room rushed back in, heavy and thick. A long pause hung in the cold air as he struggled to find the strength for one more breath, his chest rising a fraction of an inch while his eyelids fluttered against the dark. He wanted to finish the thought. He wanted to call out for the only security he had ever truly known before the world tore him apart.

"...da-"

The final syllable cut off, raw and incomplete, dissolving entirely into the quiet, rhythmic hum of the shimmering violet fog. His head rolled slightly to the side, his chin resting against his shoulder, and his right hand slipped away from his wound to hang limply over the edge of the floating purple cloud. His half-open eyes went completely still, staring blankly into the glittery, swirling smoke as his consciousness finally slipped over the edge into absolute darkness. He was left there, suspended in the magical, silent air, a broken soldier adrift in a sea of purple stars.

As the dense smoke carried his limp form to the apex of the bedchamber just below the chandelier, the humming of violentely shifted. Shimmering particles spun in rapid orbits around him, condensing into a single, blinding point of energy before a spectacular purple flash detonated silently from the center of the mist.

The overwhelming brilliance engulfed the entire room, erasing the shadows and draping the shattered furniture in a hyper-vivid, glittery light. It was an exhibition of supreme, ancient power. Beneath the incandescent radiance, Cassius’s physical body dissolved from sight, leaving him looking like an ethereal soul or a god as the extreme magical pressure threatened to shatter the tower windows.

Then, the blinding dark purple flash vanished in a single sharp moment.

A suffocating, absolute silence followed. The shimmering particles evaporated and the dense fog thinned into clear air in a single heartbeat. There was no trace of Cassius left in the room; the stone floor where he had bled was bone dry, and his broken frame had vanished entirely from existence.

The only vampire remaining in the ruined, desolate chamber was Ezalium Florianthum. She lay frozen on the corner of the bed, her horrific mocking smile gone. Her eyes were closed tightly, her head tilted slightly downward. Stripped of her terrifying blue fire and violent kinetic aura, she looked profoundly fragile- starkly pale, utterly dead, and completely alone in the quiet wreckage.

---

Far from the quiet wreckage of the ruined tower, another part of the grand palace moved with a terrifying rhythm.

Lord Vilucious walked with immense grace down the center of a massive, breathtakingly aesthetic royal aisle. The corridor was a masterpiece of opulence, flanked by towering pillars wrapped in deep, midnight-blue velvet and inlaid with solid gold gilding that caught the flickering torchlight. Every slow, deliberate step the dark ruler took echoed softly against the high, vaulted ceilings.

Cradled securely in his arms was his absolute favorite companion- a royal white-furred Persian cat. The female feline was completely pristine, her coat as pale as freshly fallen snow, sleeping soundly and undisturbed by the heavy atmosphere.

For centuries, she had been more than just a pet to the Vampie King; she remained by his side constantly, acting like an unspoken shield and an extension of his own power in the grand court. As he glided toward his massive throne court, Vilucious gently caressed her soft fur with his dark blue, velvet-gloved long fingers to keep her asleep.

Directly behind the Lord, a massive battalion of royal soldiers marched in perfect unison. Their heavily armored boots struck the stone floor with slow, steady, and terrifyingly measured thuds that created a low, roiling thunder through the blue-and-gold walls. Yet, despite the deadly force trailing behind his cape, the Lord’s focus remained unbroken, his eyes staring ahead toward the heavy throne doors while his hand continued its hypnotic caress against the pristine white fur.

The two massive golden gates of the court creaked open, thrown wide by a pair of pale, trembling royal slaves who bowed their heads so low they nearly touched the marble floor.

Lord Vilucious stepped through the threshold, his light grey eyes instantly locking onto his throne. Settled high above the entire court on an elevated, majestic platform, the seat of power was a masterpiece of solid, untarnished gold. Over its backrest, a steady, mesmerizing cascade of magical, milky-white water flowed in silence, casting a soft luminescence that complemented the King’s own flawless, snowy skin. It was a breathtaking sight, shining brilliantly from across the vast expanse of the hall.

Looking at it, a quiet, deep-seated pride broke through Vilucious’s sharp features- a subtle, triumphant smile that silently declared his absolute dominion over this world.

As his heavy, calculated steps brought him deeper into the hall, the vampire elites sitting in the tiered stone columns on either side erupted into a coordinated, thunderous cheer, chanting his name in unison.

But the celebration was brutally cut short.

Just as Vilucious walked towards the stairs of his throne and lifted his boots to take the very first step toward his throne, the shadows twisted. A pool of dark purple energy materialized directly under his heavy royal boot, freezing him mid-stride, his foot hovering, unable to touch the stone.

The proud smile vanished, his expression hardening into that of a dead-serious tyrant. He let the heavy silence stretch before letting out a soft, mocking laugh that echoed through the high rafters. "Whoa... is this part of my welcome? What is the meaning of this color?"

A scout from his battalion broke formation, sprinting toward the platform with a heavy crossbow in his trembling hands. The soldier slid to his knees, bowing so hard his forehead struck the stone. Lord Vilucious turned his head, his eyes burning with a dangerous fury. "Tell me, soldier... what is the royal color of this kingdom?"

"I-it is royal dark blue, Your Majesty!" the soldier squeaked.

Before the King could punish him, a sudden tremor ran through his arms. The white Persian cat began to shiver violently, a low, sickly whimper escaping her throat. "Meww."

Vilucious’s cold fury flickered into sharp concern. "Vermonia? Speak, my child! What has happened to you?"

The cat’s eyelids snapped open.

In that single instant, the Vampire King’s world fractures. Vermonia’s delicate irises were completely gone, replaced by a burning dark purple filled with animalistic rage. A thick wreath of dark purple, glittery smoke erupted from her white fur, swirling like a miniature cyclone.

Vilucious’s hands trembled, the overwhelming pressure stripping his strength. The cat slipped from his grasp, landing heavily on the floor.

"Vermonia?!..."

The King’s voice came out as a hollow, airy whisper, staring down in absolute disbelief at the ancient, forbidden magic rewriting his palace from within.
