The Side Character Who Wins by Doing Nothing

Chapter 395: No One Will Retreat

Although Master Wudao had grown suspicious from what Lu Sangjiu said, it was still just suspicion.

In his heart, he was unwilling to believe that Ting Chan would really do such a thing, and even less willing to believe his sect’s Ancestor would.

But seeing the Sect Leader standing here before him, covered in wounds and so weak, his conviction was inevitably shaken.

He let go of Lu Sangjiu and strode forward. "Sect Leader! What in the world is going on?"

It was possible the Sect Leader had done something to deserve this treatment, but... if that were true, why not just say so? Why claim he was in seclusion while secretly imprisoning him?

No matter how he thought about it, what Lu Sangjiu said seemed far more likely.

Seeing Wudao approach, Gu Jue frowned and was about to draw his sword.

Lu Sangjiu was severely injured and had already been contending with Wudao for some time; she was now utterly exhausted.

She wanted to speak and stop him, but the moment she opened her mouth, she coughed up another mouthful of blood. She could only stumble anxiously toward Gu Jue, trying to prevent him from attacking.

Gu Jue had his sword halfway out of its sheath when he saw Lu Sangjiu stumble, about to fall. He instinctively let go of the Abbot he was supporting and rushed over to catch her.

"Are you alright?"

As he spoke, Gu Jue anxiously took out a Healing Pill and fed it to her.

The Spiritual Power exploded within her, and Lu Sangjiu’s injured, depleted body finally felt some relief.

She caught her breath, finally able to get out the words she’d been holding back. "I’m fine... Master Wudao doesn’t know anything."

Although she didn’t have time to explain further, that one sentence was enough for Gu Jue to roughly understand the situation.

He saw that some color had returned to Lu Sangjiu’s face before turning to look behind him.

Master Wudao was supporting the Sect Leader, anxiously asking about his condition. The Sect Leader, having taken the Healing Pill Gu Jue had given him, was feeling a bit better and now had the strength to explain things to Wudao.

After listening, Wudao’s eyes turned bloodshot. "Damn it... How could this happen!"

Filled with grief and indignation, he helped the Abbot sit on the ground. "Rest assured, I understand what has happened. I will go and explain everything to our Sect Disciples and get justice for Jichen!"

He knew the Ancestor would not move against him lightly, and with Ting Chan currently away from the sect, he was full of confidence.

Lu Sangjiu and Gu Jue exchanged a look, both feeling that things had suddenly become much simpler... ’Perhaps we don’t need to rescue the Abbot after all?’

"So we..."

Lu Sangjiu nodded. "Let’s stay and see. If this works, it would be for the best."

Gu Jue nodded, then contacted Luo Linlang and the others to ask about their situation.

The Divinity Transformation Stage elder from before had said Luo Linlang and the others were tied down, but in truth, this was all part of Lu Sangjiu’s plan.

She had intentionally let them be discovered. She knew that their identities were already exposed, so hiding was of little use. On the contrary, revealing them all would make their enemies underestimate them.

This allowed Gu Jue, her hidden trump card, to remain concealed and become the key to the final rescue.

So, while they were said to be tied down, they were actually handling the situation with ease.

Now, upon receiving Gu Jue’s message, they each broke away and escaped.

Gu Jue, of course, briefly explained the situation on his end and told them to wait for their return in the mountain range outside Bodhi City.

Meanwhile, Lu Sangjiu was desperately consuming Elixir Pills to restore her Spiritual Energy and heal her wounds.

But her injuries were too severe; they wouldn’t heal anytime soon.

Just as they thought the matter might be resolved so smoothly, Gu Jue’s expression suddenly changed, and Lu Sangjiu’s eyes snapped open.

Both of them instinctively looked in the same direction, toward a point in the distance where space was fluctuating. A moment later, a tear ripped open in the fabric of space, and a figure stepped out.

Seeing the person’s appearance, Lu Sangjiu’s pupils contracted... ’Qin Miao!’

After suffering a defeat at the hands of Xie Ningyuan and escaping last time, Lu Sangjiu had heard no news of her.

With so much else happening, Lu Sangjiu hadn’t had time to think about her. She never expected Qin Miao to suddenly appear here!

And she didn’t appear alone. Following behind her were two Divinity Transformation Stage Evil Cultivators.

However, their auras were somewhat unstable. It seemed they had only just advanced to the Divinity Transformation Stage, most likely through some method that unnaturally rushed their growth.

Their entire Qilin Sect had been wiped out before, leaving only a few scattered members. Qin Miao must have been short on manpower, resorting to some Evil Technique to create two Divinity Transformation Stage subordinates.

Their appearance here now was clearly a sign of ill intent.

Just as Wudao had gathered the Sect Disciples, he suddenly saw these uninvited guests appear.

The sect’s Great Array had been opened earlier, so Qin Miao and her followers appeared outside of it.

Seeing this, Wudao immediately tried to fully activate the Great Array to prevent the sect from suffering another devastating blow.

However, he had forgotten that the true authority over the sect’s Great Array was in the hands of the Tribulation Crossing Ancestor!

He had just begun to activate it when the Great Array suddenly flashed with golden light and vanished completely!

Wudao was horrified. He realized it must have been the Ancestor’s doing. Unable to compete with him and with no time to think, he could only fly out of the sect and block Qin Miao’s group.

"Who are you? What business do you have at my Ten Thousand Buddha Sect?"

A faint smile played on Qin Miao’s lips, but her charming face held no emotion. "Why, I’m here on orders... to kill you, of course."

The moment the words left her mouth, she attacked Wudao.

At the same time, the two Divinity Transformation Stage cultivators behind her shot toward the Sect Disciples below!

Among the current Sect Disciples, the highest cultivation was only at the Nascent Soul Stage. The rest were low-level cultivators, so weak that a casual wave of their attackers’ hands could kill them in droves.

The severely injured Abbot would not stand by and watch his disciples be slaughtered. He immediately stood up and headed toward the battlefield.

Lu Sangjiu quickly tried to stop him. "Abbot, your body can’t take it! We need you to break this stalemate. You have to leave here first!"

The Abbot’s usually kind face was now incredibly solemn. "I cannot stand by and watch my Sect Disciples be slaughtered. You have nothing to do with this. Go!"

Lu Sangjiu knew it wouldn’t be easy to stop him. If she were in his shoes, she wouldn’t leave either.

The bigger picture might be important, but it didn’t absolutely depend on him. How could he use that as an excuse to flee in the face of battle?

Lu Sangjiu gave a bitter smile and turned her head to look at Gu Jue. "Mr. Gu..."

Gu Jue nodded. "You don’t need to say another word. We’ll help them together."

A knowing smile spread across Lu Sangjiu’s face, the flames of battle burning in her eyes. "I knew neither of us would back down... Then let’s fight!"
