Chapter 700 -699: Reanimation

Ah Qi and his guards tore the entire Regent Prince Mansion apart, finally discovering something suspicious inside the bedroom wardrobe.

A guard knocked on the wall and listened carefully, then turned to Ah Qi.

“Your Highness, this wall is hollow.”

Ah Qi ordered his men to move the wardrobe.

But it was no use. The wardrobe was attached to the wall and couldn’t be moved.

Ah Qi climbed into the wardrobe himself, running his fingers over every inch of the surface, not even sparing the deepest crevices.

Finally, he discovered a mechanism hidden in a secret compartment of the wardrobe.

He activated the mechanism, and the back wall of the wardrobe opened, revealing a bottomless secret passage.

Ah Qi left a few guards to stand watch outside while the rest followed him into the secret passage.

The secret passage was dimly lit, with only the faint yellow glow from the lantern in Ah Qi’s hand.

Gripping the hilts of their swords, the guards scanned their surroundings, remaining on high alert for any potential traps.

Soon, they came to a three-way fork.

Ah Qi didn’t know which was the right way, so he decided to split his men into three groups.

The ten guards were divided into three small teams.

One team took the left path, one took the right, and the remaining four guards followed Ah Qi down the middle path.

After walking a while longer, Ah Qi finally saw the end of the passage.

At the end was a small room containing several wooden chests.

The guards thought the chests would be filled with gold and jewels, but when they opened them, all they found were worthless old items.

Naturally, they were greatly disappointed.

Ah Qi could see that most of the items belonged to a woman, and a guess began to form in his mind.

‘These might be things Manman once used.’

‘He put himself in the other person’s shoes. If his beloved had died, he would have done the same—collected all her belongings. To him, they would be treasures more precious than gold or jewels.’

Ah Qi ordered, “Take all these chests with us.”

The guards didn’t understand why the Prince wanted these worthless old things, but they were tactful enough not to ask.

They would do whatever the Prince commanded.

「Inside the ice cellar.」

The lid of the originally sealed ice coffin had been pushed open.

Hua Manman lay quietly in the ice coffin. Her long hair cascaded like a waterfall, her skin was as pale as snow, and her hands were folded over her chest, clutching a small sachet.

Her eyes were closed, and a fine layer of frost had condensed on her raven-black eyelashes.

The Three-colored Cat had already brought the sachet here as Hua Manman instructed.

But it had waited a long time without seeing any reaction from Hua Manman.

It could only wait patiently, guarding the side of the ice coffin in silence.

‘What on earth does Hua Manman want to do?’

Suddenly!

It felt the Main God disappear.

A complete and utter disappearance, never to return.

In human terms, it was death.

The system originated from the Main God. Even though it had betrayed the Main God, there was still a subtle, weak connection between them.

Now, that connection had vanished completely.

It could no longer feel the Main God’s presence.

The system froze in shock.

‘It had originally thought that when Manman said she would kill the Main God, it was just a passing fit of anger.’

‘But it never expected her to actually be serious.’

‘She really did kill the Main God.’

‘This woman is insane!’

The Three-colored Cat raised its little head and looked at the sleeping woman in the ice coffin.

At that moment, it finally understood Hua Manman’s intentions.

‘She must have known all along that her life was tied to the Main God’s. She knew that if the Main God died, she couldn’t survive either.’

‘That’s why she had it come here to stand guard beforehand.’

Just then, the sound of footsteps and voices came from outside the door.

‘Someone’s here!’

The Three-colored Cat immediately stood up, ran to the side of the metal door, and pricked up its ears to listen carefully.

It heard the people outside speaking the Xiliang language.

‘Clearly, the newcomer wasn’t Li Ji.’

Recalling its near-encounter with Ah Qi in the Prince Mansion, the Three-colored Cat quickly concluded that the person breaking into the secret passage must be Ah Qi.

The Three-colored Cat was frantic.

It leaped into the ice coffin in a flash, its paws landing on Hua Manman’s body as it meowed at her.

‘Woman, wake up!’

The people outside must have found the mechanism.

The mechanism was activated. The metal door made a CLICKING sound from within, then slowly slid open to the side.

The Three-colored Cat was so nervous its fur stood on end.

It leaped out of the ice coffin, wanting to transform into a bear and drive out all the intruders.

However, with the Main God dead, the system had also lost its energy supply.

The system had just turned into a bear when, less than three seconds later, it POOFED back into its Three-colored Cat form due to insufficient energy.

An internal system alert warned of insufficient energy.

The little energy it had left was only enough to maintain its Three-colored Cat form; it couldn’t change into any other animal.

Ah Qi led his guards into the ice cellar.

Their eyes immediately fell upon the ice coffin and the woman lying quietly inside it.

‘It’s Manman!’

Ah Qi strode over. Looking at the woman in the ice coffin, his heart flooded with intense joy.

‘He’d crossed mountains and rivers, and now he had finally found her!’

The guards looked at the woman in the ice coffin and couldn’t help but ask doubtfully.

“Is she really dead?”

You couldn’t blame them for wondering. The woman simply didn’t look dead.

There wasn’t a single wound on her body, her skin was smooth and supple, and her long hair was black and silky.

She looked as if she were merely asleep, with none of the signs of death about her.

Ah Qi reached out, his fingertips gently stroking Hua Manman’s cheek as he murmured softly.

“In my heart, she is always alive.”

As his fingertips brushed past her lips, her eyelashes trembled slightly.

Gently shaking off a little fine frost.

Ah Qi’s movement froze.

His eyes widened, and he stared fixedly at the woman in the ice coffin, utterly astonished.

‘Did I just see things? I actually saw Manman move!’

Just as he was thinking he had hallucinated, he saw her eyelashes tremble again. At the same time, her eyelids twitched slightly, as if she might open her eyes at any moment.

This time, even the guards noticed something was wrong. They backed away in fear, asking in alarm and disbelief.

“Is she coming back to life?!”

Although Ah Qi was astonished, he was not afraid.

‘To him, no matter what Manman became, she would always be his Manman.’

He held his finger in front of Hua Manman’s nose.

A moment later, he felt a faint breath.

It was Hua Manman’s breath.

‘She was still breathing!’

Ah Qi immediately said, “She’s not dead!”

The guards were skeptical.

They cautiously gathered around, each in turn checking for Hua Manman’s breath, and discovered that she was indeed still breathing.

This was simply incredible.

The guards couldn’t quite believe it.

But Ah Qi had no such reservations. All that mattered was that Manman was not dead!

He swiftly took off his own cloak, wrapped Hua Manman in it, then lifted her into his arms and commanded in a deep voice.

“Let’s go!”
