The Shining Star Above The Heaven
Chapter 1283: Could Remember His Own Face
Alcraz came out of his daze and spoke.
"Oh, yes, well... it's alright, Your Excell... uhm, Your Majesty. That's okay with me."
He did not know how he should address Aldrian.
He was afraid that he might unconsciously offend this unknown royalty. Even someone from the higher heavens revered him.
Gu Cangtian also finally regained his composure. He quickly wiped away his tears. The moment he saw the great emperor, he had forgotten that someone else was with him.
"By the way, when I heard that someone had saved him in the past, and that person came from this universe and even from the higher heavens, I was truly curious. I did not expect that it would be you, Gu Cangtian. How did you end up in this place?" Aldrian asked.
Gu Cangtian glanced at Alcraz.
Knowing his worries, Aldrian continued.
"It's okay. He will not tell anyone anything about us. I already have a measure for that. Besides, he has already seen our interaction anyway. Even if Avergis somehow uses his power through Alcraz, we would sense it immediately."
Gu Cangtian released a sigh and nodded.
"Well, when the Second Heaven was on the brink of falling to those invaders, many of us had already begun planning what we needed to do in the future. We had to choose a place where we could hold our position for as long as possible until Your Majesty returned, if we could."
"I came to this place on my own initiative. I thought it would be a good place to maintain my position with the dangerous sandstorm right beside me. I could also make it even more dangerous, making those invaders not dare to explore it or even approach it.
"I placed a small Stone of Annihilation, which contains powerful destruction laws, in the middle of the sandstorm, giving the sandstorm the attribute of Destruction laws. With that, not even a demigod could pass through the sandstorm or even approach it.
"At this moment, we are already deep inside the sandstorm. With the sandstorm above, I could live peacefully here while waiting for Your Majesty to return."
Aldrian nodded, but then he became curious.
"But you came out to save Alcraz, a follower of Avergis?"
Gu Cangtian glanced at Alcraz, who silently listened to them.
"Well, initially I ignored him because I thought he was just like the many fools who tried to explore the sandstorm for treasures. Moreover, he is one of Avergis' followers. That reason alone was enough for me to kill him."
Hearing that, Alcraz's heart trembled. He had never known this, but he was not surprised. After all, Gu Cangtian came from this universe. From what he had said earlier, he also seemed to have experienced a war, perhaps against his ancestor.
"However, when I observed Alcraz, I could feel that he was special. My comprehension of Karma laws and Time laws helped me notice something unusual about him, which in the end made me decide to save him despite him being one of Avergis' followers. He was exuding karma that was far stronger than anyone else's."
"But now I know why he was exuding that kind of karma. That karma must have come from the many timelines in the future where he met Your Majesty, which also connected him to me in the end."
"I am truly happy that I could experience the timeline where I am able to meet Your Majesty at this moment."
Gu Cangtian said with a relieved expression.
Alcraz finally understood the meaning behind Gu Cangtian's answer when he asked why he had saved him.
'So that's what he meant by saying it was for karma,' he thought.
To be honest, he was quite disappointed to learn that the man who had saved him from death's door had not done so purely out of kindness. He knew that he should not expect pure kindness from someone from this universe after what his ancestors had done, but he still felt disappointed.
Moreover, with how Gu Cangtian had treated him so kindly, he had thought that Gu Cangtian was different and simply liked helping others.
In the end, all of that had only existed in his mind. Gu Cangtian had saved him only because he would become the bridge that allowed him to meet this young man.
"So you could also sense my presence outside earlier despite me not showing any of my characteristics to you?" Aldrian asked.
"Of course, Your Majesty. How could I, your servant, not know your presence? I could never call myself your servant if I could not recognize your presence, even if you turned invisible. I will always know Your Majesty's presence as long as you are within my senses," Gu Cangtian said proudly.
"And the moment I saw Your Majesty again, there was no doubt that it was you. Although there are slight changes, your perfect face is almost the same as it was in the past. My apologies, Your Majesty, but even I dare say that the current you is the younger version of the face I knew in the past."
The moment Aldrian heard that, something stirred within his memories. He narrowed his eyes as the memories of his own face suddenly became much clearer.
Blue eyes, a pointed nose, long red hair.
He touched his forehead as if he were experiencing a headache, causing Gu Cangtian to narrow his eyes.
"What's wrong, Your Majesty?" he asked, but Aldrian did not answer. He was still in the midst of processing the memories of what his face as the Great Emperor looked like.
Just like that mysterious figure, he had also never seen the Great Emperor's face. He had never seen his face, even though it was his own self, which made him feel quite strange.
But it looked like Gu Cangtian's words had triggered those memories to return.
After a few moments, as his memories resurfaced, his expression returned to calm. He took a deep breath and released it.
'I remember now.'
He could finally remember his own face as the Great Emperor. It was as if the fog obstructing his memories of his face as the Great Emperor had disappeared.
There were not many differences compared to his current face. Just like what Gu Cangtian had said, the face of the Great Emperor was a mature version of his current face.
His mature self was truly dazzling. If his current appearance was already enough to make any woman fall in love and any man admit defeat, then his mature self could make anyone feel unworthy of even looking at him.
He was too perfect even in his own eyes, which made him feel strange since that face was his own.
"Your Majesty."
Gu Cangtian's voice brought Aldrian out of his daze, and he looked at Gu Cangtian. He saw Gu Cangtian looking at him with worry.
Aldrian took a deep breath and smiled.
"I'm sorry for making you worry. I just remembered something from that era, so there is nothing to worry about."
Gu Cangtian raised his eyebrows and nodded.
'His Majesty's memories must still be incomplete. It will take some time before he can remember everything from the past,' he thought.
"Anyway, I heard from Alcraz that you were injured. After looking at you, it seems your injuries are severe. You are still not healed even though a long time has already passed. What happened to you?" Aldrian asked.
Gu Cangtian sighed.
"Well, I received these injuries in the Third Heaven. The battle at that time was truly fierce, and we were slowly pushed back to the central region of the heaven. I fought while holding the line for the retreat. I was surrounded by more than ten gods, and after a fierce battle, I managed to kill five of them. But I was injured by the enemies' attacks, which damaged both my divine soul and my divine sphere."
Gu Cangtian also opened his upper robe and revealed a large scar on his upper abdomen. Just by looking at it, Aldrian knew that the injury was severe enough to affect his life as a cultivator.
The divine soul and the divine sphere were the most important parts of a Divine Realm cultivator. The divine soul was the evolution of a being's soul after reaching divinity. Their soul became much more abstract and no longer physical. Only fellow gods could harm their souls.
As for the divine sphere, it was the evolution of a being's dantian after reaching divinity. Their dantian would transform into a miniature world or even something on a much larger scale, such as a universe. The larger the scale, the stronger they became.
"My injuries are quite severe, so I have still not recovered until now. With the limited resources I have here, I doubt they will ever fully heal," Gu Cangtian continued before releasing another sigh.
"Let me check your condition," Aldrian said as he approached Gu Cangtian.
Gu Cangtian could not help but feel honored that the Great Emperor wanted to examine him.
Aldrian touched Gu Cangtian's wrist and checked his condition for a few moments before nodding.
"I see. It's quite bad, but fortunately it's treatable."
