The Shadow Wolf's Second Life: They Bullied The Wrong Omega
Chapter 85: Transfer Our Pack Status?
Ludwig froze, his jaw slackening as his eyes darted frantically between Edgar and me. He couldn’t comprehend it. Why was the Alpha of the Morningstar Pack—a force rivaling the Four Great Packs—personally showing up to shield a family of low-caste Omegas?
What in the hell was my actual relationship with him?!
Ah, I wouldn’t have believed it if I wasn’t the said Omega.
I mean, Edgar may be 21 like he said, he looks like he could be in his late 20’s.
Anyway, my point is, at this age, he already has the qualifications and already became the leading Alpha of the Morningstar Pack, despite the fact that he’s always at the Casino hidden in the Grey Moon territory, acting like some castaway Alpha.
I was also shocked when I heard it from Benjamin. His uncle—I mean cousin—is a bigshot through and through. And ive bene messing with that big shot, haha. That’s how formidable I am, hmph!
Panic rippled beneath Ludwig’s skin as he realized his grand strategy for the Tournament of Power was evaporating. But then, his Alpha pride reared its ugly head. This was his estate. This was his territory. What would the other packs say if word got out that he let a younger Alpha march into his study and strip him of his authority?
Ludwig forced a raspy swallow, attempting to puff out his chest. "Regardless of your... personal interest in Brianna Wells, she and her family still belong to the Grey Moon Pack. She is registered under my jurisdiction, and she will fight under the Grey Moon name! You can’t just swoop in and—"
Edgar shot him a gaze so frigid, so heavy with absolute, predatory malice, that the words died instantly in the old man’s throat.
"I was trying to be polite and talk things out," Edgar murmured, his deep voice smooth as silk and twice as dangerous. "But it seems you simply refuse to take a hint."
Ludwig trembled, the cold sweat on his forehead trickling down to his jaw. "W-What...?"
"When you added her name to the roster, was it not just as a throwaway piece?" Edgar asked, stepping closer to the desk, his presence completely dwarfing the room. "Was it not so she would enter the arena, fill a slot, and get slaughtered just so you could meet your territorial quota?"
Ludwig opened his mouth, his tongue dry. "That... that was—"
"I know how you operate, Ludwig," Edgar cut him off smoothly, his tone dripping with disdain. "You didn’t care if she lived or died. You didn’t bother offering her a single shred of resources, training or protection. That is the kind of ’Alpha’ you are. And now that I have invested in her, made her strong, and given her proper resources, you want to swoop in, force her into your Vanguard, and claim the glory of her victory for yourself?"
Edgar let out a short, mocking scoff.
While Edgar kept Ludwig thoroughly pinned under his suffocating presence, I slowly withdrew my silver dagger from the old man’s throat. Cleaning the tip on my sleeve, I sheathed the blade into my jacket lining and stepped away from the desk, leaving Edgar to handle the rest of the political theater.
Edgar lifted his hand and snapped his fingers once. The sound echoed sharply through the ruined study. Behind him, one of his Betas stepped forward, dropping a thick, leather-bound document onto the mahogany desk directly in front of Ludwig.
THUD.
Ludwig stared down at the crisp white pages bearing the official Morningstar seal. "W-What is this...?"
"Bradford Wells, Valerie Wells, Jayden Wells, Jordan Wells, and Brianna Wells," Edgar listed flatly, resting both hands on the edge of the desk as he leaned over the terrified old man. "All five individuals currently registered under the Grey Moon Pack. I want their citizenship, pack allegiance, and territorial status transferred... directly to the Morningstar Pack. Sign it."
I stopped in my tracks, my eyes widening in genuine shock as I turned to stare at the back of Edgar’s head.
Transfer our pack status?!
When on earth did he prepare such documents?! And why the hell didn’t he tell me about this beforehand? Changing our entire pack allegiance wasn’t anywhere on our script!
I quickly snapped out of it. My immediate priority was my family.
I turned and walked toward Bradford and Valerie. The two guards holding them hesitated, their hands still gripping my parents’ arms tightly despite being put down by the pressure.
I snapped a sharp, murderous glare directly into their eyes, just enough to make their instincts scream. The guards flinched, instantly releasing their hold and backing off with their hands raised.
I knelt beside my parents, gently pulling Valerie up into a standing position before steadying Bradford by the elbow.
"Brianna..." Bradford whispered, his hands trembling as he stared at me in total bewilderment. "What is going on? When... when did you become so powerful?"
"That’s not important right now, dear," Valerie cut in softly, her voice raspy and equally taken aback as she held her blood-stained handkerchief to her forehead. She looked at me, her wide eyes darting toward Edgar’s towering back. "Brianna... did you hear what the Morningstar Alpha just said? He wants to move us to his pack... Is this also because he likes you?"
I tried to force a reassuring smile onto my face, but my lips barely twitched. Truthfully, I was just as stunned as they were.
I squeezed my hands into tight fists, my mind whirling as I looked at Edgar’s calm, authoritative side profile from behind. Edgar... what in the world are you really planning?
Alpha Ludwig’s hand trembled so violently he could barely hold the pen Edgar’s Beta shoved into his grip. He looked up, horror in his eyes, searching for a single shred of mercy on Edgar’s face, but he found only an impenetrable wall of cold, unyielding authority.
"Sign it, Ludwig," Edgar commanded, his voice dropping into a low, terrifying pitch that reverberated through the very floorboards. "Or I can pull every investment, contract, and trade agreement the Morningstar Pack has with Grey Moon by sunset. By tomorrow morning, your pack won’t even have enough funds to pay your own enforcers."
