The Seventh Base

Chapter 1283 42: Counterattack

From the O’Brian Republic, Fernand asked, “May I ask, what controversies exist about our O’Brian Republic?”

The Church was prepared, and the Red-clothed Archbishop Balmer spoke up: “As the spokesperson for Saint Tiya Star mentioned earlier, during the era of the Silver Star Empire, many places of the Old Empire had already decayed, leading to the empire’s swift collapse…”

“So, is there a controversy regarding the Lin’s membership in the committee?” Fernand interrupted.

Lin’s Transcendents’ eyes suddenly became sharp, looking in Fernand’s direction. This old guy actually questioned the Lin family?

“Please let me finish, Mr. Fernand,” continued the Red-clothed Archbishop. “After the empire’s collapse, the current Lin family has severed ties with the old regime, consistently upholding the current order without disrupting universal peace, thus there is little controversy. However, the direct descendants of the empire seem to still exist. Xu Mo appears to be the heir of the empire, aided by Gaia and the Star Ring, always plotting to revive the empire and initiate a universe war. Their presence threatens the current universal order, and the O’Brian Republic has shielded the faction led by Xu Mo and Gaia, even collaborating with them, which poses a potential threat to the new order and contradicts the goals of establishing the Cosmic Federation.”

“Therefore, if the O’Brian Republic can address this issue by handing over the faction led by Xu Mo and Gaia to the soon-to-be-established Cosmic Federation Committee for disposal, we will still acknowledge the O’Brian Republic’s membership in the Cosmic Federation Committee. Otherwise, the O’Brian Republic will be prohibited from becoming a member of the Cosmic Federation and will face sanctions in the future,” said Balmer.

Xu Mo wasn’t surprised to hear this; indeed, the first thing in establishing the Cosmic Federation is to use him as a scapegoat. If the O’Brian Republic refuses, it will be isolated, excluded from the Cosmic Federation, not only losing the chance to enter the committee but also estranged from the new order.

This newly formed Cosmic Federation Committee will have legitimacy to impose sanctions—financial sanctions, warfare sanctions.

The O’Brian Republic would face an impending disaster.

Once the O’Brian Republic is destroyed, next would be the Tyr Star Domain and Coriade Star Domain, slowly being settled and gradually devoured until the different factions engage in internal struggles to seize the ultimate universal control.

They have long intended to do this; forming the Cosmic Federation will make it all the more straightforward and logical, without obstacles.

Fernand felt a chill at these words; such a strategic move was almost forcing the O’Brian Republic onto a path of self-destruction.

Fernand understood that regardless of their decision, the end result would likely be the same.

The so-called first target of the Cosmic Federation is the O’Brian Republic, and by provoking conflicts between the Republic and the Kales Empire, they aim for an all-out war with the Kales Empire. Thus, they would not only destroy the O’Brian Republic but also weaken the Kales Empire’s military power, allowing the Church to exert better control.

This strategy of killing two birds with one stone, though apparent, is difficult to counter.

“Is the Lin family today not a member of the former Imperial Family? Why does Xu Mo and Gaia pose a threat to the universal order but the Lin family does not? What’s the difference between them? When have Xu Mo and Gaia disrupted universal peace?” Fernand asked. “Moreover, apart from being the highest civilization levels, are there any other specific standards for members of the Cosmic Federation Committee?”

“All these cannot be left to the Church’s sole decision, can they? If so, why not directly let the Church govern the Cosmic Federation?”

Fernand’s voice made the surroundings particularly quiet. Establishing the Cosmic Federation by the Church and other forces in the name of peace is a trend of the times, indisputable, yet the Church intends to harshly target the O’Brian Republic next; how could the O’Brian Republic possibly compromise?

“The difference is that the Lin family has already separated from the Old Imperial Family, while Xu Mo and Gaia have inherited the Old Empire’s legacy. These are unchangeable facts. As for specific standards, they naturally pertain to whether they pose a threat to universal peace,” the other party responded.

“So, it seems you’re merely suspecting Xu Mo and Gaia might threaten universal peace without any specific standards,” Fernand stated. “For many years, the Kales Empire has been invading O’Brian Republic’s territory, waging wars, causing countless deaths. Kales Empire’s actions are already disrupting universal peace; why can they still be a member of the Federation Committee?”

“The purpose of forming the Cosmic Federation is precisely to eliminate past wars for the sake of future universal order and realize peace,” Balmer stated.

“You mean the wars you initiated in the past don’t count, so you can join the Cosmic Federation Committee, but the ones you suspect cannot?” Fernand sneered. “If that’s the case, it would be hard to convince people indeed.”

“I have already read out the conditions for forming the Cosmic Federation, and if there are differing opinions regarding certain aspects of establishing the Cosmic Federation, then it shall be collectively decided by the major forces in the universe,” Balmer said, not continuing to argue with Fernand.

“Hold on,” Fernand said.

“Does the O’Brian Republic have any other opinions? If the O’Brian Republic disrupts the establishment of the Cosmic Federation, it will be directly expelled and forbidden to continue participating in this conference,” Balmer threatened.

“Of course, I agree with the meeting’s discipline, but before that, there’s something that needs to be revealed for the future peace of the universe,” Fernand began to speak, and suddenly someone behind him escorted a figure forward.

Seeing that figure, someone from the church frowned.

Mystic God Temple Cultivator Alon.

“What is the meaning of this?” Everyone’s eyes turned to Alon.

Alon walked forward, and Fernand spoke, “Previously, regarding the O’Brian Republic’s assassination of Kales Empire Prince Lonco, I believe you all are aware. The Republic Leader’s daughter Vera, Mystic God Temple’s Transcendents Anos and Alon were present nearby, listed as suspects. This is Alon, now let him speak for himself.”

Fear flickered in Alon’s eyes, but he still looked up at the crowd and said, “I am Alon, a Cultivator from Mystic God Temple, and also a Cultivator sent by the church to Mystic God Temple. Last time’s incident, it was I who arranged for Vera and the others to appear in the assassination area.”

Alon’s words instantly caused an uproar.

On the Kales Empire side, many narrowed their eyes instantly, staring at Alon, then looking toward the church direction.

The church’s handiwork?

“Such means are rather crude, aren’t they?” Baolmer said, “Casually finding a subordinate to slander our church? Did you alter his memory?”

Baolmer was blocking any fallback; just like that, hoping to overturn the situation? It’s undoubtedly a fool’s dream; one Alon changes nothing.

Suddenly… a sound erupted, blood splattered, and Alon’s head was pierced directly, then someone took his corpse away.

The church’s people narrowed their eyes, only to hear Fernand continue, “Alon is the second genius of Mystic God Temple. If you think Mystic God Temple would let me slander and kill him, then there’s nothing more to say.”

“Furthermore, the church’s influence spans across major planets, including many in the O’Brian Republic, and has done quite a few things. Among them, an operation called the ‘Angel Plan.’ I wonder if the Red-clothed Archbishop remembers, this plan specifically abducts children from various planets. I have files recorded here, is it another forgery of mine?” Fernand raised his hand with a virtual electronic file, “I’ve made many copies and will send them to various forces. Can the church’s members explain this plan?”

“We can explain.” At this moment, two figures walked out from the church’s direction, causing Baolmer to pause, looking at the two figures, which turned out to be Church Archbishops Marvin and Sande.

“What are you doing?” Baolmer whispered, the two ignored him and continued walking quickly towards the O’Brian Republic side. Marvin then said, “Regarding Kales Empire Prince Lonco’s death, what I know is that Saint Heir Naga hinted at the Duffy Family to do it. Just capturing Duffy would clarify it.”

“Presumptuous…”

A cold reprimanding voice echoed, multiple powerful auras erupted from the church’s side, but almost instantly, Fernand, who had been prepared, appeared behind the two, facing the church direction, a strong energy shield enveloping the area he was in, holy light cascaded down, yet didn’t threaten Marvin and Sande.

“What, trying to silence?” Fernand shouted, “Today, the Cosmic Federation is founded, to establish cosmic order, how is it that I see your church as the main culprit of cosmic chaos? Now, aren’t you allowing others to speak?”

“Fernand, your O’Brian Republic actually sent someone to control our church archbishops? To prevent the establishment of the Cosmic Federation, have you become so desperate?”

Church Elder Arthur couldn’t sit still either, stepping forward, exuding a terrifying aura.

If this situation was allowed to continue, their church would be hit at the roots, the so-called legitimacy would become worthless.

Unexpectedly, the O’Brian Republic’s killer move was here; first, unconditionally supporting the establishment of the Cosmic Federation, promoting its smooth development, but at this critical moment, exposing some of the church’s deeds, thereby toppling the church.

Once all these things done by the church are publicly known, the so-called Cosmic Federation becomes a joke, and how could there still be talk of legitimacy?
