The Sea Queen of 1985
Chapter 500: Vying for Favor
Chapter 500: Chapter 500: Vying for Favor
Yang Zhigang was completely done with his son. "Nanyang, I don’t want to talk to this beast. Bring out all the evidence we’ve collected!"
"Yes, Uncle Yang." Chen Nanyang took out all sorts of documents, as well as video recordings. "Yang Jianming, let me briefly explain these materials to you..."
After Yang Jianming finished listening, his expression turned grim. "Dad, I’m your biological son!"
Yang Zhigang shot back, "And wasn’t Zhang Xiufang your biological mother? Whether it was Xiao Rui, Zhang Lili, that Anna, or Rose—the woman who burned to death with Zhang Xiufang—which one of them wasn’t close to you?"
"Pingping and An’an, and Shunshun and Lili, whom you abandoned at home—which one of them has nothing to do with you? And you? How did you treat all these people? You inhuman monster! I used to think the biggest failure of my life was marrying Zhang Xiufang. But later I realized that wasn’t it. The biggest failure was having a shameless son like you, Yang Jianming."
Hearing his father curse him like this, a sinister glint appeared in Yang Jianming’s eyes.
"There’s no way I’m giving up custody of Jenny and Angie."
Yang Zhigang sneered, "Oh, you will. You’ve latched onto a tycoon’s daughter now for even greater benefits. If she finds out what a vile person you are, do you think she’ll want to stay with you?"
"Even if that woman is too love-struck and dizzy to see straight, her parents aren’t fools. You want a court battle? We’ll give you one. I’ve already arranged everything back home. Whether it takes one year or two, I can play this game. And I can come to the United States anytime."
Yang Jianming thought about it. The inheritance tied to these two daughters couldn’t be touched until they turned eighteen.
That meant he wouldn’t be able to access it for another seventeen years. He couldn’t just sit around and wait for seventeen years.
A woman’s prime is short, but a man’s isn’t long either.
He had grown accustomed to the glitz and glamour of the United States and was determined to climb the social ladder. Rice was his carefully selected ticket.
He absolutely would not allow his plans to be ruined.
Having figured this out, he said, "Well, the old ginger is always the spiciest. Fine. I’m willing to give up custody of the children and agree to let you take them back to China. But you have to give me all those documents."
Yang Zhigang sneered. "Give them to you? For what? With your shameless behavior, they might come in handy again in the future. It’ll save me the trouble of gathering them all over again."
He still remembered Yao Ziqian telling his fortune and predicting he would have seven granddaughters.
He already had six, which was enough to prove that Yao Ziqian’s prediction was accurate.
Just one more to go. Yang Zhigang was keeping count!
"Dad, how can you say that about your own son?" Yang Jianming was utterly humiliated.
Yang Zhigang said assertively, "I don’t want to get involved in your messy affairs anymore, nor can I control you. This is my only demand, and I will not give you the documents. You, Yang Jianming, may not be a decent human being, but I, Yang Zhigang, am."
"Your mother, Zhang Xiufang, gave birth to an evil creature like you, and she got her retribution. Not only did you swindle her money to buy a car, but she also burned to death in a great fire. Having you as a son was my sin, too. To atone, all I can do is donate more money for good karma and raise my granddaughters well. As for you, Yang Jianming, I’m just waiting to see when you’ll get your comeuppance."
Yang Jianming looked embarrassed when he heard this, but he quickly thought of the bright future he would have after marrying Rice.
"You probably won’t live to see it. This is the United States. With money and power, you can do whatever you want. When I return home in glory, don’t you pretend you don’t know me."
"Bah!" Yang Zhigang spat. "Even if you bought the entire United States, I wouldn’t give a damn. The Yang Family’s ancestral grave must have been buried in a cursed spot to produce a heartless, treacherous fiend like you."
Yang Jianming’s face turned livid from the tirade. He took the pen, signed, and relinquished custody of the children.
The rest was left for the lawyers to handle.
Although it cost a lot of money, they had finally achieved their goal quickly.
Yang Zhigang obtained custody of his granddaughters, Angie and Jenny, and completed the necessary procedures to return to China.
Yang Zhigang didn’t want the woman named Rice to be deceived, so he discussed sending the documents to her with Chen Nanyang.
Chen Nanyang was exasperated. "Uncle Yang, why don’t you take a look at these documents first?"
After Yang Zhigang looked, he immediately put the documents away. "Yang Jianming is despicable and shameless, but this Rice woman is no saint either! It turns out she was the one who instructed the nanny to abuse the two children."
And so, Yang Zhigang put the documents away securely and brought them back to China.
After paying the lawyer’s fees, he returned to China with the children.
Chen Nanyang also returned with him.
As for Ye Feng, he still had unfinished business and needed to stay behind.
All in all, after half a month, Yang Zhigang returned from the United States.
He brought back two little girls, just over a year old. They had black hair, and their facial features were very much like those of East Asians.
If you didn’t look closely, you might mistake them for exquisitely featured East Asians, or perhaps think they looked a bit like they were from Xinjiang.
Wu Cuicui learned about the two children from her husband, Yang Jianguo, and felt very sympathetic.
They were already raising two of Yang Jianming’s daughters, so taking in two more didn’t seem like much of a burden.
In fact, Wu Cuicui also remembered Yao Ziqian’s fortune-telling, recalling that Yang Jianming was fated to have seven daughters.
So, the appearance of two more daughters didn’t seem particularly surprising to Wu Cuicui.
Yang Jianguo looked at the two new additions and felt both happy and melancholic.
He had only one daughter of his own in his life, and now he had ended up adopting four.
Although he despised Yang Jianming to the core, wishing he would just drop dead, he couldn’t bring himself to hate these four adorable, doll-like children.
Beautiful children often receive more love and care.
Although the two children had some trouble adjusting to the strange new place, the house was full of other kids.
Pingping, An’an, and Shunshun were older and could look after the little girls who were just learning to walk.
Ningning and Zhuangzhuang, who were also in the house, were about the same age as the twin sisters and could play together.
Only little Lili, seeing her mother being so good to the two new little sisters, became unhappy. She monopolized her mother, refusing to let her hold Jenny and Angie.
"She’s my mommy!" Yang Lili declared protectively.
Wu Cuicui was exasperated, but she was still very happy to hear Yang Lili call her "mommy."
Although they had a nanny, Wu Cuicui’s care for these children was genuine.
"Those are your little sisters, and they are Mommy’s daughters too. But Mommy still loves you," Wu Cuicui tried to reason with the child.
But reasoning didn’t work. Yang Lili remained possessive, not letting Wu Cuicui hold the other children.
Just then, Yang Minmin rode up on her bicycle, home from school.
"Yang Lili, get over here right now."
Yang Lili, who had been acting bratty while clinging to her mother, heard her big sister’s voice and immediately scrambled down from Wu Cuicui’s arms, running over to her sister like an obedient little puppy.
"Big Sister, I wasn’t being naughty. I was being very good."
Yang Minmin parked her bicycle, then bent down and hugged Yang Lili. "Your new sisters are younger than you. You have to be the bigger person and let them have their way, okay?"
